Frequently Asked Questions - UPAC-MBUSCRD-AZ01B nJoy

What is the purpose of the nJoy UPAC-MBUSCRD-AZ01B Modbus card?
The Modbus card enables remote monitoring and control of a UPS or PV inverter by providing a Modbus RTU communication interface via RS-485.
How do I set the machine ID on the Modbus card?
Use the 8-bit DIP switch SW1 to set the ID. Each bit represents a binary value; push down for '1', up for '0'. Refer to the appendix in the manual for specific ID-SW1 mappings (IDs 1-255).
What communication formats are supported?
Baud rates: 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200 bps (default 19200). Parity: even, odd, or none with 1 or 2 stop bits. Configure via SW1 bits 1-4.
How do I configure the RS-485 resistance?
Use DIP switches #6 (pull-up), #7 (pull-down), and #8 (termination). All are enabled by default (ON). Disable if the network already has terminating resistors.
How do I connect the Modbus card to a computer?
Connect via an RS-485 to RS-232 converter or RS-485 to Modbus/TCP converter. Use an RJ45 cable between the card and the converter. Pinout: Pin 4 (RS-485 B), Pin 5 (RS-485 A), Pin 8 (GND).
Can I use multiple Modbus cards in one system?
Yes, each UPS can have one Modbus card. Up to 31 UPS units (each with its own ID) can be monitored from a single computer using a daisy-chain RS-485 network.
What should I do if the card is missing or damaged?
Contact the store where you purchased the product. The package includes a Modbus card, a spare jumper, and a user manual.
How do I install the Modbus card?
First set the ID and communication format via DIP switches. Then insert the card into the intelligent slot of the UPS or PV inverter. No need to turn off the device.
Does the card support surge protection?
Yes, the Modbus card provides surge protection on the RS-485 interface.
What is the storage temperature range for the card?
Store the card in a dry place at temperatures between -10°C and +70°C.
