You have clearly decided in favour of a quality product. These operating instructions are a part of this product. They contain important information in regard to safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all of these operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and only for the specified areas of application. In addition, pass these documents on, together with the product, to any future owner.

Intended use
This hair straightener is intended for smoothing human hair, and must never be used for wigs and hairpieces made from synthetic material. The hair straightener is for domestic use only. Please pay attention to all of the information in this operating manual, particularly the safety instructions. The appliance is not intended for commercial use.
Any other or any additional use is considered as improper use. Claims of any kind for damage resulting from unintended use will not be accepted. The operator alone bears liability.

NOTICE
▶ Check the contents to ensure everything is present and for signs of visible damage.
If the delivery is not complete, or is damaged due to defective packaging or through transportation, contact the Service Hotline (see section "Warranty and Service").
Unpacking
◆ Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the carton.
◆ Remove all packaging material.
WARNING
▶ Packaging material should not be used by children as a play thing. There is a risk of suffocation.
Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from transport damage. The packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable.

The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit saves on raw material and reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispose of packaging material that is no longer needed as per the regionally established regulations.
NOTICE
▶ If possible preserve the appliance's original packaging during the warranty period so that, in the event of a warranty claim, you can package the appliance ideally for its return.

Safety instructions
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
- Connect the appliance only to correctly installed mains power sockets that supply a current rating of 220 - 240 V \~ / 50 Hz.
The power cable on this appliance cannot be replaced. In the event of it being damaged the whole appliance must be disposed of.
In the event of operating malfunctions, and before cleaning the appliance, disconnect the plug from the mains power socket.
▶ To disconnect the power cable, always pull the plug from the socket, do not pull the power cable itself.
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
- Ensure that the power cable does not become wet or moist during use. Place it such that it cannot be crushed or damaged.
- Should the appliance, the power cable or the plug become damaged, arrange for them to be repaired by Customer Services to avoid risk of injury.
▶ Do not use the appliance outdoors. - Do not wrap the power cable around the appliance and protect it from being damaged. Under no circumstances may the appliance be submersed in fluids or fluids be allowed to permeate the housing. Do not expose the appliance to humidity and do not use it outdoors. Should liquids enter the housing, disconnect the appliance from the mains power socket immediately and arrange for it to be repaired by a qualified technician.
In order that you can disconnect the appliance quickly in an emergency, do not use extension cables.
▶ Never grasp the appliance, the power cable or the power plug with wet hands. - Unplug the appliance immediately after use. The appliance is completely free of electrical power ONLY when unplugged.

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

Never use the appliance near water, particularly not near sinks, baths or other vessels. The proximity of water presents a risk, even when the appliance is switched off. Always disconnect the plug from the mains power socket after use. As additional protection, the installation of a faulty-current protection unit with an activation power rating of not more than 30 mA is recommended for the power circuit in the bathroom. Ask your electrician for advice.
- Do not crimp or crush the power cable and lay it in such a way as to prevent anyone from stepping on or tripping over it.
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
▶ Never leave a switched-on appliance unsupervised.
▶ Never place the appliance close to sources of heat, and protect the power cable from damage.
- Do not operate the appliance if it has sustained a fall or is damaged in any way. Arrange for the appliance to be checked and/or repaired by qualified technicians.
⚠ WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
- Do not open the housing or attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Should you do so, the safety concept can no longer be assured and the warranty will become void. Permit only authorised technicians to repair a defective appliance if repairs should be necessary.
The appliance becomes hot during use. Hold it only by the grip when it is hot.
This appliance may be used by children of the age of 8 years or more and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or, have been instructed in regard to the safe use of the appliance and have understood the potential risks.
▶ Children should not play with the appliance. - Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children, unless they are being supervised.
Beforestraightening
■ The hair should be clean, dry and free of styling products. Excepted are the special products that support a straightening of the hair.
■ With very curly or very thick hair, lighty moisten the hair.
■ Comb the hair thoroughly before straightening so that there are no knots in it.
■ To achieve an especially good straightening result, spread special products for hair straightening through the hair.
Operation
Preparation
NOTICE
The hot plates ④ must be free of soiling. If necessary, clean them before taking the appliance into use (see chapter "Cleaning").
The appliance is locked, the restraining device ③ has been slid to the position 🔒.
1) Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
2) Slide the on/off switch ① to "l". The control lamp ② glows. The hot plates ④ are being heated up.
3) Wait for approx. 1-2 minutes, then the hot plates ④ will be heated up.
4) Slide the restraining device ③ to the position 6.
Straightening hair
■ Prepare the hair as described in "Before straightening".
■ Start with the lower hair pieces at the back of the head. Work over the sides to the front.
1) Separate a ca. 3 cm wide hair strand.
WARNING - RISK OF BURNS!
▶ Ensure that you do not touch the scalp or other skin on the body with the hot plates ④.
▶ During the procedure you may only take hold of the appliance by the handle!
2) Clamp the strand of hair close to the scalp between the hot plates ④ and press them together.
3) Draw the entire strand of hair through the hot plates ④ by pulling the hair straightener downwards.
4) Repeat the process with each individual strand.
5) When you have smoothed all of the strands, slide the on/off switch ① to "0". The control lamp ② extinguishes.
6) Remove the power plug from the wall socket.
7) Press the hot plates ④ together and slide the restraining device ③ to the position 🔒.
Safety switch off
This appliance is fitted with a safety switch-off.
After approx. 30 minutes, and without activation of the on/off switch ①, the appliance switches itself off automatically. After approx. 25 minutes the control lamp ② starts to blink, to remind you it is about to switch off automatically.
Should you wish to continue using it for longer than 30 minutes, switch the appliance off and then immediately back on. The 30 minutes start from the beginning again.
NOTICE
The safety switch-off is not intended to replace switching the appliance off manually with the on/off switch ①! It is only for your safety, should you forget to switch it off!
Cleaning

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
▶ Before cleaning, ALWAYS remove the plug from the mains power socket. Risk of electric shock!

WARNING - RISK OF BURNS!
▶ Always allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning it.
WARNING - PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Potential damage to the appliance.
▶ Do not use any aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents, these could damage the surfaces.
■ Wipe the housing and the hot plates ④ with a stoplamp cloth.
In cases of stubborn soiling, use some mild detergent on the moistened cloth.
■ Do not use the appliance again until it has dried completely.
Storage

WARNING - RISK OF BURNS!
▶ Always disconnect the plug from the mains power socket when the appliance is no longer in use, so as to prevent accidental activation.
WARNING - PROPERTY DAMAGE!
▶ NEVER wrap the power cable with plug around the appliance. This could lead to irreparable damage to the power cable!
■ When it is cooling down, always place the appliance on a heat resistant surface.
■ Press the hot plates ④ together and slide theestraining device ③ to the position 🔒.
■ Store the appliance at a clean and dry location.

Disposal

Do not dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive 2002/96/EC (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. Pay heed to the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre.
Warranty and Service
The warranty for this appliance is for 3 years from the date of purchase. The appliance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before delivery.
Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our service department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your goods be assured.
NOTICE
The warranty covers only claims for material and manufacturing defects, not for transport damage, wearing parts or for damage to fragile components, e.g. bulbs or switches.
This product is for domestic use only and is not intended for commercial applications. The warranty is void in the case of abusive and improper handling, use of force and internal tampering not carried out by our authorized service branch.
Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by this warranty.
The warranty period is not extended by repairs made under the warranty. This applies also to replaced and repaired parts.
Damages and defects extant at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking, resp. no later than two days after the date of purchase.
Repairs made after the lapse of the warranty period are subject to charge.
