You have selected a high-quality product. The operating instructions are part of this product. They contain important information about safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the range of applications specified. Please also pass these operating instructions on to any future owner.

Intended use
This hair straightener is intended for straightening human hair only. Under no circumstances is it to be used for wigs or hairpieces made of synthetic material. This appliance is intended exclusively for private use. Pay heed to all of the information in this operating manual, especially the safety instructions. This appliance is not intended for commercial applications.
The appliance is not intended for any other purpose, nor for use beyond the scope described. No claims of any kind will be accepted for damage arising as a result of incorrect use. The risk shall be borne solely by the user.
Safety information

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
- Connect the appliance only to mains power sockets supplying a mains power voltage of 220 - 240 V \~, 50/60 Hz.
- Remove the plug from the mains power socket in case of operating malfunctions and before you clean the appliance.
▶ Always pull on the plug to disconnect the appliance from the mains; never pull on the power cable itself.
▶ Ensure that the power cable does not become wet or damp during use. Route the cable in such a way that it cannot be crushed or damaged.
If the appliance, the power cable or the plug are damaged, arrange for them to be repaired by Customer Services to avoid hazardous situations.
▶ Do not use the appliance outdoors. - Do not use extension cables – they will make it difficult to disconnect the appliance quickly in an emergency.
▶ Never touch the appliance, the power cable or the power plug with wet hands.
▶ Do not kink or crush the power cable, and route the cable so that it cannot be stepped on or tripped over. - Do not wrap the power cable around the appliance, and protect it from being damaged. Under no circumstances should the appliance be submersed in liquids or liquids be allowed to penetrate the housing. Do not expose the appliance to humidity and do not use it outdoors. If any liquid gets into the housing, disconnect the appliance from the mains power socket immediately and have it repaired by a qualified technician.

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
▶ Unplug the appliance immediately after use. The appliance is completely free of electrical power only when unplugged.

Never use the appliance near water, and keep it away from sinks, baths and other similar containers.
The proximity of water is hazardous, even if the appliance is switched off. Always disconnect the plug from the mains power socket after use. For additional protection, we recommend that you install a residual current circuit breaker with an activation power rating of no more than 30 mA for the power circuit in the bathroom. Ask your electrician for advice.

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
▶ Never leave a switched-on appliance unsupervised.
▶ Never place the appliance close to sources of heat, and always protect the power cable from damage.
- Do not operate the appliance if it has been dropped or is damaged in any way. Have the appliance checked and/or repaired by qualified technicians if necessary.
This appliance may be used by children of the age of 8 years or more and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are being supervised or have been instructed with regard to the safe use of the appliance and have understood the potential risks.
▶ Do not allow children to play with the appliance.
- Cleaning and user maintenance should not be carried out by children, unless they are under supervision.

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
- Do not open the housing or attempt to repair the appliance yourself. This can lead to hazards and also invalidates the warranty. Defective appliances should be repaired by authorized specialists only.
The appliance heats up during use. Always hold the appliance by its handle when it is hot.

The appliance is supplied with the following components as standard:

1) Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the carton.
2) Remove all packaging material.
3) Clean all parts of the appliance as described in the section entitled "Cleaning".
NOTE
▶ Check the package for completeness and signs of visible damage.
▶ If any items are missing or damaged as a result of defective packaging or transportation, contact the service hotline (see section "Service").
Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from transport damage. The packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable.

The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit saves on raw material and reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispose of packaging material that is no longer needed according to the regionally established regulations.

Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly manner. Note the labelling on the packaging and separate the packaging material components for disposal if necessary. The packaging material is labelled with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings:
1-7: Plastics,
20-22: Paper and cardboard,
80-98: Composites.
NOTE
▶ If possible, keep the original packaging during the warranty period so that the appliance can be properly packed for returning in the event of a warranty claim.

Before straightening
■ The hair should be clean, dry and free of styling products. The only exceptions to this are special products that promote the straightening of the hair.
■ Comb the hair thoroughly before straightening so that there are no knots in it.
Automatic switch-off
This appliance is fitted with an automatic switch-off system. After 30 minutes the appliance stops heating automatically. The indicator lamp ④ flashes and you hear a warning beep every 10 seconds until the ON/OFF switch ③ is pressed. If you want to continue using the appliance, switch it off for a moment and then back on again.
NOTE
The automatic switch-off is a safety function only. It is not intended as a replacement for switching the appliance off properly by using the ON/OFF switch ③!
Operation
Switching on/off
NOTE
The hotplates ⑤ ⑥ must be free of dirt. Clean them before use if required (see section "Cleaning").
1) The appliance is locked with the catch ②. Press the hotplates ⑤ ⑥ together and press the ⑦ symbol on the catch ② to unlock the appliance. Now you can open the hair straightener all the way.
2) Insert the plug into a mains power socket. You will hear a short sequence of beeps.
3) Push the ON/OFF switch ③ forwards. You will hear a short sequence of beeps and then the indicator lamp ④ starts flashing red to indicate that the appliance is heating up.
4) As soon as the hair straightener has heated up to approx. 160°C, you will hear three beeps and the indicator lamp lights up permanently red to indicate that you can now begin styling.
NOTE
▶ During longer use the appliance heats up to around 190^ C+/- 10^ C).
5) When you have finished styling your hair, push the ON/OFF switch ③ to the rear. The indicator lamp ④ goes out and you will hear a beep.
6) Pull out the plug and allow the appliance to cool down completely.
7) Press the hotplates ⑤ ⑥ together and press the symbol on the catch ② to lock the appliance.
Straightening hair
1) Prepare the hair as described in "Before straightening".
2) Start with the lower sections of hair at the back of your head. Work around the sides towards the front:
Take a strand of hair about 2 cm wide and hold the end of the strand tightly between your index and middle finger of the hand that is not holding the hair straightener.
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
▶ Ensure that the hotplates ⑤ ⑥ do not touch your scalp. Never touch the hotplates ⑤ ⑥ or the upper part of the hair straightener during operation! Risk of burns!
3) Clamp the strand near the root between the hotplates ⑤ ⑥ and press them together.
4) Pull the entire strand through the hotplates ⑤ ⑥ by pulling the hair straightener quickly downwards from the root to the tips.
5) Proceed in the same way for every strand.
6) Once you have straightened all the strands, switch the appliance off and pull the power plug from the mains power socket.
7) Allow the appliance to cool down completely.
Cleaning
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
▶ Always remove the plug from the mains power socket before cleaning the appliance.
▶ UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you immerse the appliance in water or other liquids during cleaning!
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
▶ Allow the appliance to cool sufficiently before cleaning it.
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!
▶ Do not use any aggressive cleaning liquids or solvents. They could damage the surface.
1) Wipe the housing and the hotplates ⑤ ⑥ with a damp cloth.
2) For stubborn soiling use a mild detergent on the cloth. Wipe off any detergent residue using a cloth moistened with clean water only.
3) Allow the appliance to dry fully before using it again.
Storage
■ Place the appliance on a heat-resistant surface to cool down.
■ You can hang the appliance up by the hanger ①.
If you do not intend using the appliance for long periods,
■ clean the appliance as described in the section "Cleaning".
■ Store the appliance in a clean and dry location.
Troubleshooting

Disposal of the appliance

Never dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive 2012/19/EU.
Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal facility or your municipal waste facility. Please comply with all applicable regulations. Please contact your waste disposal centre if you are in any doubt.

Your local community or municipal authorities can provide information on how to dispose of the worn-out product.
This appliance has a 3-year warranty valid from the date of purchase. If this product has any faults, you, the buyer, have certain statutory rights. Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by the warranty described below.
Warranty conditions
The validity period of the warranty starts from the date of purchase. Please keep your original receipt in a safe place. This document will be required as proof of purchase.
If any material or production fault occurs within three years of the date of purchase of the product, we will either repair or replace the product for you at our discretion. This warranty service is dependent on you presenting the defective appliance and the proof of purchase (receipt) and a short written description of the fault and its time of occurrence.
If the defect is covered by the warranty, your product will either be repaired or replaced by us. The repair or replacement of a product does not signify the beginning of a new warranty period.
Warranty period and statutory claims for defects
The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage and defects present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking. Repairs carried out after expiry of the warranty period shall be subject to a fee.
Scope of the warranty
This appliance has been manufactured in accordance with strict quality guidelines and inspected meticulously prior to delivery.
The warranty covers material faults or production faults. The warranty does not extend to product parts subject to normal wear and tear or fragile parts such as switches, batteries, baking moulds or parts made of glass.
The warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged, improperly used or improperly maintained. The directions in the operating instructions for the product regarding proper use of the product are to be strictly followed. Uses and actions that are discouraged in the operating instructions or which are warned against must be avoided.
This product is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes. The warranty shall be deemed void in cases of misuse or improper handling, use of force and modifications / repairs which have not been carried out by one of our authorised Service centres.
Warranty claim procedure
To ensure quick processing of your case, please observe the following instructions:
■ Please have the till receipt and the item number (e.g. IAN 12345) available as proof of purchase.
- You will find the item number on the type plate, an engraving on the front page of the instructions (bottom left), or as a sticker on the rear or bottom of the appliance.
If functional or other defects occur, please contact the service department listed either by telephone or by e-mail.
- You can return a defective product to us free of charge to the service address that will be provided to you. Ensure that you enclose the proof of purchase (till receipt) and information about what the defect is and when it occurred.
