How do I connect the player to an HDMI TV?

Use an HDMI cable (not supplied) to connect the HDMI OUT of the player to the HDMI input of your TV. Ensure that the HDMI Output Setting is set to On. You can choose the resolution with the RESOLUTION button (720p, 1080i, etc.).

What should I do if there is no picture via the component output?

Check that the Progressive Setting is correct. If the HDMI output is activated, the component output only delivers a progressive signal. Turn off HDMI OUT with the HDMI button to get an interlaced signal if necessary.

How do I clean the player and discs?

For the player: wipe the casing with a soft, dry cloth. For discs: wipe radially from the center outward with a soft, dry cloth. Never use solvents or antistatic products.

The remote control does not work, what should I do?

First check the batteries: insert two new AA/R6 batteries respecting polarity. Point the remote control towards the front sensor (range ~5 m). Avoid strong lights. If the problem persists, reset the player by unplugging the power cord for 10 seconds.

What are the region codes for DVDs?

The region number is printed on the back of the player. For example, the European model generally has code 2. Only DVDs with the same code or 'all regions' can be played.

Can I play MP3 and JPEG files on CD-R?

Yes, provided the disc is finalized in ISO 9660 Level 2 or Joliet format. The player only reads the first session of a multisession disc. File names must have the extensions .mp3, .wma, .jpg.

How do I set the parental control?

Access the setup menu, select Parental Lock and set a password. You can then choose a restriction level (1 to 8) to limit playback of certain DVDs.

No sound via HDMI, why?

Check that the Digital/HDMI Audio Out setting is not set to Off. If your TV does not support Dolby Digital or DTS, set it to PCM. For SACD, audio is not transmitted via HDMI, use the analog outputs.

What should I do if the player does not turn on?

Ensure that the power cord is properly plugged in and that the mains voltage matches (AC 100-240 V for Europe). If the problem persists, unplug the cord for 10 seconds and then plug it back in. If nothing happens, contact your Onkyo dealer.
