How do I connect the DV-SP504 player to a TV?

Use an HDMI cable for best quality, or a composite video cable (supplied) connected to the VIDEO OUTPUT and AUDIO OUTPUT FRONT/D.MIX 1 jacks. For a TV with S-Video or component input, use the corresponding outputs.

What types of discs can this player play?

It plays SACD, DVD-Audio, DVD-Video, DVD±R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, Video CD, as well as MP3, WMA, JPEG and DivX files (except North American models).

Why is there no picture on the screen?

Check that the TV is on the correct input, the video cable is properly connected, and the HDMI setting is activated (press the [HDMI] button on the front panel). If using the component output, make sure progressive scan is compatible with your TV.

How do I set the parental lock?

Press [SETUP], go to the 'Operation Setting' menu then 'Parental Lock'. Enter a 4-digit code (default 0000) and select the restriction level.

How do I play MP3 or JPEG files?

Burn the files in ISO 9660 Level 2 or Joliet format on a CD-R/RW or DVD±R/RW. Insert the disc, the Disc Navigator screen appears. Use the arrow keys to select a folder or file and press [ENTER].

What should I do if the remote does not work?

Check the batteries (insert two AA batteries observing polarity), move closer to the player (range ~5 m) and point the remote at the sensor. Avoid intense light sources.

How do I use the Last Memory function?

During DVD playback, press [LAST MEMORY] on the remote. The stop point is memorized even after removing the disc. To resume playback, insert the disc and press [LAST MEMORY] then [▶].

How do I clean the player?

Use a soft dry cloth to wipe the casing. For stubborn stains, dampen lightly with water and mild detergent, then wipe with a dry cloth. Never use solvents. For discs, wipe radially from the center outward.

What are important safety precautions?

Do not open the casing (class 1 laser radiation). Avoid exposure to water or moisture. Leave at least 20 cm ventilation space around the unit. Unplug during thunderstorms.

How do I reset the player if it malfunctions?

Press and hold the [■] (stop) button for about 10 seconds until 'RESET' appears on the display. Alternatively, unplug the power cord for 10 seconds then plug it back in.
