Frequently Asked Questions - DE5900 AOPEN

How do I set up the DE5900 for the first time?

Connect the 90W power adapter to the DC-in jack on the rear panel. Attach the L-type holder if mounting on a horizontal surface. Connect peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse) to available ports. Press the Power S.W. button on the front panel.

What is the maximum memory capacity?

The DE5900 supports up to 64GB using two DDR5 SO-DIMM modules (4800/5200 MHz). Both slots must be populated with compatible modules.

How can I clean the DE5900?

Disconnect the power adapter before cleaning. Use a moisture sheet or cloth; do not use liquid or sprayed detergent. Ensure no liquid enters openings.

How do I install an M.2 SSD?

Open the chassis (refer to manual for disassembly). Insert the M.2 2280 NVMe/SATA SSD into the key B slot. Secure with the screw. The system will automatically detect the drive.

What does the System Error LED indicate?

The System Error LED on the front panel lights up when a hardware fault is detected. Common causes include memory, storage, or power issues. Check the manual for specific error codes.

How do I recover the BIOS?

Use the BIOS Recovery button on the front panel (near USB ports). Insert a USB drive with the correct BIOS file and follow the on-screen instructions. Refer to the user manual for detailed steps.

How do I extend the power switch?

Connect an external switch to the Extend Power SW terminal block on the rear I/O. Use wires AWG #20~28 with a strip length of 9~10mm. Press the terminal button to insert and clamp the wire. Refer to section 4.1 of the manual.

What should I do if liquid enters the device?

Immediately disconnect the power adapter. Do not attempt to power on. Contact qualified service personnel to inspect and repair the device.

How do I dispose of the DE5900 responsibly?

What are the ventilation requirements?

- Do not install DE5900 in a closed space. Be sure the ventilation holes in the DE5900 side for at least 1 to 2 inches or 2 to 5cm of space for ventilation. To ensure that other objects do not cover the ventilation holes on DE5900

In right side and rear side keep space at least 5cm Don't put operating device inside closed space.

4. Function Introduction

4.1 Terminal Block - Extend power switch

Extend power switch at rear IO of DE5900 can allow customer to extend the power switch by their demand, and customer can decide their own switch specification and cable length just follow the wire gauge and strip length.

Ground & SW+ are for connection to extend power switch, and PS_ON is a signal to present the system power on/off status, when PS_ON signal is low, then system is in power on status when PS_ON signal is high, then system is in power off status

This is a screwless type spring clamp pluggable terminal block, you can insert a wire by press the button on the terminal, please refer to the procedure below.

Step 1 please prepare a pin or rod that hard enough for pushing the button on the terminal block Step 2 push the button in the end and hold it

Step 3 insert the wire into the hole and make sure the stripped portion is fully inserted Step 4 release the pin or rod then the wire will clamp by the terminal block
