Frequently Asked Questions - SIRAX CT610 Camille Bauer

How do I measure DC voltage with the SIRAX CT610?
Set the rotary switch to the V DC position. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the V/Ω jack. Touch the probes to the circuit and read the value on the display.
What is the maximum current I can measure?
The maximum current for the SIRAX CT610 is 10 A for both AC and DC. For currents above 10 A, use a clamp accessory. Do not exceed 10 A for more than 30 seconds to avoid damage.
How do I replace the battery?
Turn off the meter and remove the test leads. Unscrew the battery compartment cover on the back. Replace the old 9 V battery with a new one, ensuring correct polarity. Close the cover and tighten the screw.
What does the 'OL' reading mean?
OL stands for Over Limit or Overload. It indicates that the measured value exceeds the selected range. Switch to a higher range to get a proper reading.
Can I measure temperature with this multimeter?
Yes, the SIRAX CT610 supports temperature measurement using a type K thermocouple (included). Set the rotary switch to the TEMP position, insert the thermocouple, and read the temperature in °C or °F.
Is the SIRAX CT610 safe for mains voltage measurements?
Yes, it is rated CAT III 600 V, which means it is safe for measurements on building installations and distribution boards. Always follow safety precautions when working with live circuits.
How do I test continuity?
Set the rotary switch to the continuity symbol (sound wave). Connect the test leads to the COM and V/Ω jacks. Touch the probes together first to verify the beep. Then test the circuit; the meter will beep if continuity exists (< 50 Ω).
What is the accuracy of this multimeter?
Basic DC voltage accuracy is ±0.5% of reading + 2 digits. Refer to the manual for full accuracy specifications for each function and range.
The backlight is not working. What should I do?
Press and hold the HOLD/BACKLIGHT button for about 2 seconds to toggle the backlight. If it still doesn't work, ensure the battery is fresh. If the problem persists, contact Camille Bauer support.
What are the storage recommendations?
Store the multimeter in a dry place at temperatures between -10°C and 50°C. Remove the battery if storing for extended periods. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, moisture, and strong electromagnetic fields.

The installation and commissioning should only be carried out by trained personnel.

Check the following points before commissioning:

  • that the maximum values for all the connections are not exceeded, see „Technical data“ section,
  • that the connection wires are not damaged, and that they are not live during wiring,
  • that the power flow direction and the phase rotation are correct.

The instrument must be taken out of service if safe operation is no longer possible (e.g. visible damage). In this case, all the connections must be switched off. The instrument must be returned to the factory or to an authorized service dealer.

It is forbidden to open the housing and to make modifications to the instrument. The instrument is not equipped with an integrated circuit breaker. During installation check that a labeled switch is installed and that it can easily be reached by the operators.

Unauthorized repair or alteration of the unit invalidates the warranty.

2. Introduction

2.1 Purpose of this document

This document describes the summation current transformers SIRAX CT600 and CT610. It is aimed at installers, commissioning engineers, service and maintenance personnel.

Scope

This operating manual is valid for all variants of the summation current transformers of the SIRAX series.

Required knowledge

A general knowledge in the field of electrical engineering is required. For assembly and installation of the device knowledge of applicable national safety regulations and installation standard is required.

2.2 Scope of supply

• Summation current transformer SIRAX CT6xx
• Safety instructions (german and english)
- Test report

2.3 Further documents

The following documents are provided electronically via www.camillebauer.com:

• Datasheet SIRAX summation current transformer
• Operating manual (german and english)
• Flyer current transformer program

3. Functional description

Summation current transformers are used to add secondary currents from several main inverters. They are designed to combine several synchronous alternating currents of equal phase relationship with each angle of the phase difference. So if the current measurement is carried out by two or more current transformers and the total consumption is to be recorded, the secondary signals of the individual current transformers can be summed up with the aid of summation current transformers. As a result, the total consumption can be recorded with only one measuring instrument. At the output of the summation current transformer, a normalized measuring signal is available.

4. Assembly and installation

Camille Bauer SIRAX CT610 - Assembly and installation - 1

Ensure a safe working environment during assembly, installation and maintenance work. Disconnect the power supply of the primary conductor and secure it against unintentional reconnection.

  • Any installation position is possible. The device can either be snapped onto a DIN rail DIN rail according to EN 50022 or screwed directly to the wall.
  • Now connect the connections according to the wiring diagram.

5. Electrical connections

Camille Bauer SIRAX CT610 - Electrical connections - 1

Ensure under all circumstances that the leads are free of potential when connecting them!
