How to use the body fat measurement function?

Press the ON/OFF key to enter BFC mode. Use the △ and ▽ keys to set your height, age, and gender, then confirm with ENTER. Step barefoot onto the scale and stand still. After about 10 seconds, weight and body fat percentage are displayed.

What to do if the screen displays 'Err2'?

The Err2 message indicates overload. Immediately remove any weight from the scale to avoid damage. Do not exceed the maximum capacity of 140 kg.

How to change the measurement unit (kg/lb)?

Use the slide switch located at the base of the device to choose between kg/m (metric system) and lb/in (imperial system). Do this before using the scale.

How to replace the battery?

When the 'LO' indication appears on the screen, replace the battery. Open compartment A on the back of the device, insert an alkaline 9V (6LR61 or equivalent) battery respecting polarities. Dispose of the used battery in an appropriate collection container.

Why doesn't the scale display anything when I step on it?

Make sure the battery is correctly installed and functional. If the device is new, lightly press the weighing surface to initialize it: the screen will display □□□□ then turn off. Afterwards, it will turn on automatically when you step on.

How to clean the scale?

Use a damp cloth to clean the surface. Never use chemicals or abrasives, and do not immerse the device in water. Avoid getting the battery contacts wet.

Can the scale be used by multiple people?

Yes, it can store data for up to 10 people. After taking a measurement in BFC mode, save it by pressing ENTER after selecting a memory number (0-9). To recall data, use the RECALL key.

What do the error messages 'Err0', 'Err1', 'Err3' and 'Err4' mean?

Err0: initialization error – restart the measurement. Err1: movement or incorrect use – remain still. Err3: body impedance out of limits – clean your feet with a damp cloth. Err4: body fat percentage out of range (5%-50%) – clean your feet and try again.

What is the ideal body fat percentage?

The recommended ranges are: Women: 20% to 29%, Men: 10% to 18%. Consult your doctor to determine your ideal percentage based on your constitution. Measure yourself at the same time each day (e.g., morning) for consistent results.

Can I use the scale during pregnancy or if I have a pacemaker?

No. The device is not recommended during pregnancy and for persons with a pacemaker or other electronic medical device. If in doubt, consult your doctor. Household use only.

USE OF THE APPLIANCE

This appliance must be used only for the use for which it is intended: as a bathroom scale and body fat measurement device. Any other use is incorrect and therefore hazardous. Polti S.p.A. shall not be held liable for any damage resulting from incorrect or erroneous use.

WARNINGS

Read the instructions carefully before using the appliance and keep them for future reference.

This appliance is intended exclusively for domestic use, and must not be used in hospitals or healthcare facilities.

Individuals with medical implants (cardiac electro-stimulators, etc.) should not use this device. If you have any doubts, ask your doctor for information.

Pregnant women should not use this device.

If the device is faulty or malfunctioning, do not attempt to dismantle it yourself, but contact an authorised Polti service centre.

If the appliance is dropped, have it inspected at an authorised service centre.

The appliance has no parts requiring maintenance other than the battery.

Wipe with a damp cloth after use. Do not use chemical products or submerge it in water.

Do not subject the appliance to excessive vibration or blows. Do not drop it onto the floor.

The appliance can measure using the metric system (kg/m) or the Imperial system (lb/in). Select the preferred scale using the sliding switch on the bottom of the appliance.

PREPARATION

Place a 9V alkaline battery (6LR61 or equivalent, not included) in the battery compartment (A), noting the + and - marks on the appliance and making sure it stays in the correct position. Select the desired unit of measurement (kilograms or pounds) using the sliding switch on the bottom of the appliance.

Place the scale on a flat, stable surface to ensure accurate weighing.

USE

Set the scale the first time you use it.

Gently press the scale's weighing surface. The display will show □□□□ and then the scale will automatically switch off. It is now ready for use.

Weighing

1. The scale comes on automatically; simply step onto the scale and wait briefly until your weight is displayed.
2. Your weight will appear on the liquid crystal display.
3. The scale will go off automatically after use.
4. Overload indicator. If the message "Err2" appears, IMMEDIATELY remove the weight from the scale or permanent damage may result.

1. Press the (ON/OFF) button to start BFM mode; the previous setting will appear. The height indicator will flash (Fig.1)

1. Press the (△) or (▽) keys to increase or decrease height.
2. Press (ENTER) to confirm the height setting. The age indicator will now flash.

2. Press (ENTER) to confirm the age entered. The sex indicator will now flash.

1. Press ( ) or ( ) to modify the sex setting using the corresponding symbol.
2. Press (ENTER) to confirm the values you have entered. You will hear a long "beep".

1. Step onto the scale with bare feet. Stand still while you are weighed. Your weight will be displayed for a few seconds (Fig. 3)

1. The scale will now start measuring body fat. While this procedure is underway the message "BFM measurement in progress" will appear on the display (Fig. 4).

1. When BFM measurement has been completed, a long "beep" will sound. The appliance will display fat percentage, weight, age and sex for a few seconds and then go off automatically (Fig. 5).

Body fat measurement using the memory function

The appliance can store data on ten different people in memory. It can store height, weight, age and sex data for frequent use.

To store data in memory:

Repeat the procedure described in the section on "MEASURING BODY FAT" up to point 8.

The memory symbol “”-“” will appear (Fig. 6).

Press ( ) & ( ) to select the memory position (0 – 9); the memory symbol will flash.

If the selected position in memory is full, the symbol “■” will appear under the memory symbol (Fig. 7).

Press (ENTER) to store the body fat measurement in the desired position in memory. A long “beep” will sound while memorisation is underway.

To recall information in memory

Press (ON/OFF) to start BFM mode. Then press (RECALL) to start up the memory recall function. The current setting will appear.

Press ( ) & ( ) to select the desired memory position (0 – 9). If the memory position is empty, no previous input will be displayed (Fig. 8).

If the memory position is occupied, the information previously stored in memory will be displayed (Fig. 7).

Press (ENTER) to accept the BFM settings stored in memory; a long “beep” will sound.

Step onto the scale with bare feet. Stand still while you are weighed. Your weight will be displayed for a few seconds (Fig. 3).

The scale will now start measuring body fat. While this procedure is underway the message “BFM measurement in progress” will appear on the display (Fig. 4).

When BFM measurement has been completed, a long “beep” will sound. The appliance will display fat percentage, weight, age and sex for a few seconds and then go off automatically (Fig. 5).

Error messages

Display Err0	Initialisation error. Try repeating the measurement.
Display Err1	Incorrect use or body movement. Repeat the measurement.
Display Err2	Overload indication. Remove the weight from the scale immediately or permanent damage may result.
Display Err3	Body impedance is beyond technical limits (300 ohm – 1 kohm). Wipe the soles of your feet with a damp cloth and repeat the measurement.
Display Err4	Body fat percentage falls outside the range (5% - 50%). Wipe the soles of your feet with a damp cloth and repeat the measurement.

1. Consult your doctor to determine your ideal body fat percentage.
2. Always measure body fat at the same time of day (for instance, between 6 and 7 in the morning).

MAINTENANCE

Replace the battery when the display indicates "LO".

Remove the battery if you will not be using the scale for a long time.

Clean the appliance with a soft damp cloth.

The appliance will switch off automatically if it is not used for a few seconds and BFM mode is selected.

• Do not dispose of protective packaging material with household waste, but take it to a collection facility.

To have work performed under this guarantee, consumers must contact an Authorised Polti Technical Assistance Centre. A list of these

centres and their addresses is attached. The consumer must present a valid receipt issued by the seller at the time of purchase as evidence of the date of purchase.

The guarantee does not cover defects due to incorrect use or use other than that identified in the instruction booklet, which is an integral part of the contract of sale for the product. The guarantee does not cover defects resulting from chance (fire, short circuit) or attributable to a third party (tampering with the product).

The guarantee does not cover parts that are damaged by wear or subject to normal wear (consumables such as filters, brushes, etc.).
