How do I descale the Emerio CME-109179?

Fill the reservoir with 400 ml of water and add a commercially available descaling agent according to its instructions. Let it sit for about 1 hour, then turn on the machine to let the solution pass through. Afterwards, brew two cycles of fresh water to rinse. Repeat every 3-4 months depending on water hardness.

Why is no water flowing through the coffee maker?

Ensure the filter holder handle is locked in the forward position. If the handle is not locked, the anti-drip function prevents water flow. Also check that the jug lid is closed.

What should I do before using the coffee maker for the first time?

Rinse all removable parts with warm water. Fill the reservoir to the maximum level with cold water and run two cycles without coffee powder. This cleans the internal system.

How many cups can I brew at once?

The machine can brew up to 18 small cups (about 85 ml each) or 14 large cups (about 125 ml each). Do not exceed the maximum water level.

Can I use ground coffee without a paper filter?

1. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.

OPERATION

Before first-time use:

• Before using this device for the first time please carefully rinse all detachable components with warm water.
  • Fill the reservoir with cold water to the maximum water level indication.
  • Afterwards brew water twice without coffee powder.

To percolate coffee:

1. Connect the mains plug to an appropriate wall outlet.
2. Fill the reservoir with cold water.
3. Open the lid of the reservoir and fill it to the desired water level indication. You can brew a maximum of 18 small cups and 14 big cups.
4. Place a paper filter in the filter reservoir. Use the measuring spoon to add the amount of coffee powder appropriate to the amount of cups you want to brew.

Note: There is a filter holder in the filter reservoir. Place the filter holder in position, fold down the handle to the front of the coffee maker to lock it in position. If the handle is not locked, the water will not flow down in the jug. When you take out the filter holder, you must first fold the handle up again.

1. Now place the jug on the tray of the appliance.
2. Close the lid of the reservoir and start brewing coffee by pressing the power ON/OFF switch. The lid of the jug needs to be closed in order to unlock the anti drip function.
3. If you leave the device switched on, the tray will keep the coffee warm after finishing brewing. The whole working process will last 40 minutes. After 40 minutes the unit will be automatically shut off and stop working. You can manually press the power switch again to switch on the appliance.

CAUTION! Do not put an empty jug back on the hot warming tray.

Descaling:

• Regularly descale the device. The intervals of descaling depend on the water hardness and frequency of operation. In case of average water hardness we suggest descaling every 3 or 4 months. Please use a commercially available decalcification agent.
• Fill 400 ml of water into the reservoir and add the necessary amount of decalcification agent in accordance with the dosing instructions.
• Let the decalcification agent sink in the device for about one hour. Switch on the unit after one hour and let the water pass through. After that you should brew water twice and rinse all detachable components, in order to clean off any residue.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Before cleaning remove the mains plug and let the device cool down.
• Never immerse the device in water. Please use a slightly damp cloth to clean the surfaces.
• Avoid using acrid or scrubbing cleaning agents.
• Keep the device in a dry place out of reach from children when cooled off and cleaned.
• Do not wrap the cord around the device.
