Frequently Asked Questions - IAN 273728 CRIVIT

How do I set up the tent?
Remove the tent from the bag, remove the rubber band, and throw the article into the air. It will pop up. Fix the four guy-ropes and eyelets using the tent pegs, and close the hook-and-loop fasteners around the crossing poles.
Is the tent waterproof?
The polyester material is water-resistant. The hydrostatic head is 2000mm for the roof and 1500mm for the side walls/floor. It may not be completely watertight on first use, but after initial rain the threads swell and become waterproof. Use seam spray for small leaks.
Why is there condensation inside the tent?
Condensation occurs due to temperature fluctuations. It is normal and not a sign of leakage. Good ventilation reduces condensation.
Can I use the tent in strong wind or snow?
No, the tent is designed for occasional summer camping in fine weather. Do not use in snow or storms. Dismantle before heavy snow or strong winds. Use storm pegs if needed.
How do I fold the tent back into its bag?
Remove pegs and guy-ropes. Grip the bottom pole, then upper poles one at a time, and finally the bottom pole. Hold the middle of the poles tight, then press the upper poles down and inward. Stack the poles neatly and wrap the rubber band around. Place in bag.
What should I do if there is a tear or broken pole?
For small tears, use a repair kit from a specialist shop. Replace broken tent poles immediately. Oil stiff zippers. Seam sealer can be used for seams.
How do I clean the tent?
Brush off dry dirt; if needed, treat with clean water only. Do not use chemical cleaning products. Periodically seal seams with commercial seam sealer.
What are the fire safety precautions?
Do not light fires inside the tent. Keep the tent away from heat sources. Do not block the exit. Familiarize yourself with local fire regulations. The tent has a sewn-in label with fire precautions.
How do I claim the warranty?
The tent has a 3-year warranty from the date of purchase. Retain your receipt. For complaints, contact the service hotline (GB: 0871 5000 720, IE: 1890 930 034) or email deltasport@lidl.co.uk / deltasport@lidl.ie.
Can I use insect spray inside the tent?
No, do not use insect spray in or on the tent as it may damage the material.

CRIVIT IAN 273728 - CAUTION! RISK OF INJURY! - 2

CAUTION! RISK OF INJURY!

Never assemble or dismantle the product in strong wind.

  • Choose the most stable, level surface possible as a location.
  • Sandy surfaces reduce stability. Ensure that you use a surface that offers a strong hold for the tent pegs.
  • Never hit the tent pegs into the ground with force! Lengthen the guy-ropes with the help of a loop and place the tent pegs at a different location.
  • Carry out regular checks on the integrity of the connection points and check the guy-ropes and that the tent pegs are secure.
  • An incorrect assembly sequence could cause damage to the tent. Any liability is excluded.

CRIVIT IAN 273728 - CAUTION! RISK OF INJURY! - 1

CAUTION! RISK OF POISONING

AND RISK OF DAMAGE TO PROPERTY!

Do not light fires inside the product and keep it away from heat sources.

- Precautionary measures against fire can be found on a sewn-in label inside the tent.

We recommend that you do not remove this label.

  • Please also familiarise yourself with the fire safety regulations on site (e.g. at the camp-site).
  • Keep the exit free! Do not block the exit with objects.

Precautionary measures against fire

The following common sense rules must be followed in order to camp safely:

  • Do not place any switched on electronic appliances near the walls, roof, or curtains.
  • Always follow the safety instructions for these appliances.
  • Never allow children to play close to the appliances while they are switched on.
  • Leave the passageways free. Do no block the exits with objects.
  • Inform yourself about fire safety facilities and provisions on the site.

Pay attention to the weather and its effects

- When choosing a location for the article, always consider local circumstances and how these could change. Is the location in a place that will flood if it rains? Please take any rising river levels or tides into account.

- Protect the product from strong wind and storms. Place the product in a place that is protected from the wind if possible.

- Exchange the normal tent pegs for special storm tent pegs in advance of strong winds. Get information on useful additional products at your specialist retailer.

- Dismantle the tent before heavy snow or storms.

- Remove snow from the product. Otherwise the product can collapse under the weight.

- Do not erect the tent too tightly as it will be unable to adapt to changing weather conditions and could be damaged.

- Zippers are wearing parts and are not included in the guarantee.

- The polyester material of the tent is made of water-resistant material.

  • It is possible that the tent is not completely watertight for the first rain. However the water will cause the threads in the tent to contract and the tent will then become waterproof after a short time.
  • In moisture and rain the tent fabric will expand at different rates and make it necessary to re-tighten the guy-ropes. When the material tightens again during drying the guy-ropes need to be loosened again in good time.
  • Do not use insect spray in or on the tent.
  • Small leaks on seams can be resolved with seam spray and waterproofing spray can be used for the awning.

Assembly

NOTE!

Perform a test assembly before the camping trip. In doing so, ensure that all the accessories are present.

Selecting a location for placing the tent

Choose a place that is as flat and clean as possible. Avoid dips in the ground. Remove stones, branches and other sharp objects in order to prevent damage to the tent floor. Use natural shade, such as hedges, rocks, etc. Use the appropriate pegs for sandy ground in order to prevent accidental loosening of the tension.

NOTE!

Insert the pegs into the ground at a slight angle to achieve good strength but without causing tension in the tent surface. The tent material and tension points should only be slightly taut, so that it can compensate for pressure from the wind. Ensure that there is not too much pressure on the tent. Check the tent tension according to weather condition.

NOTE!

Water condensation occurs basically in every tent, however particularly during strong fluctuations in temperature. After a night in the tent, there will be drops of condensation on the inner wall. Condensation is not evidence of leakiness. Good ventilation reduces condensation in the tent.

Caution: The frame is under tension when folded and will always return to the tent form. Make sure that this tensioning force does not cause you any injuries.

  1. Remove the article from the bag.
Caution: Hold the article tightly when removing the rubber band.
  2. Remove the rubber band and throw the article into the air.
  3. Fix the four guy-ropes and the four eyelets below the article using the tent pegs and close the hook-and-loop fasteners around the crossing tent poles (figure B).

Disassembly

NOTE!

Disassemble the tent, if possible, when clean and dry to prevent the formation of mould and mildew. After disassembling in rain, immediately dry the tent. Clean all the parts thoroughly before packing them away.

  1. Remove the tent pegs and the guy-ropes.
  2. Grip the back tent pole at the bottom (figure C).
  3. Now take the upper tent poles one at a time and finally the bottom tent pole with the opening (figure D).
  4. Hold the middle of the tent poles tightly in one hand.

Important: Hold the tent poles tightly and do not let them go. The tent poles are under tension and could injure you.

  1. Stand the article upright in front of you and keep holding the tent poles in the middle (figure E).

  2. Use your free hand to grip the upper tent poles in the middle and press them from above all the way down onto the tent poles at the bottom (figure F).

  3. Pull the tent poles inwards towards yourself (figure G).

  4. Put the tent poles that you are still holding over one another. Make sure that the tent poles with the rubber band are on top (figure H).

  5. Place them all tidily above one another and pull the rubber band around the article. Put the article, the tent peg sack with the tent pegs, and the guy-ropes in the bag, and close the bag (figure 1).

Maintenance

In the case of small tears and holes, use a repair kit from a specialist shop. Immediately replace broken tent poles. Oil the zips a little if they become stiff.

Care

Brush dirt off the dry tent surface; if necessary treat with clean water. Do not use a chemical cleaning product. Seal the tent seams from time to time. For this, use a commercial seam sealer.
