How do I connect the switch to my network?

Plug an RJ45 Ethernet cable from a router or another switch into one of the ports on the T1500-28PCT. Use straight-through cables to connect end devices such as computers.

How do I configure the switch IP address?

By default, the IP address is 192.168.0.1. Make sure your computer is on the same subnet (e.g., 192.168.0.x). Open a browser and go to http://192.168.0.1. Log in with the username and password admin.

Can I use this switch with non-PoE devices?

Yes, the PoE+ ports are backward compatible with non-PoE devices. The switch will not deliver power on those ports.

How do I mount the switch in a rack?

Attach the included mounting brackets to each side of the switch with the included screws. Use appropriate bolts (not included) to secure it to a 19-inch rack.

How do I access the command line interface (CLI)?

Connect a console cable (included) from the switch's console port to a serial or USB port on your computer. Use a terminal emulator (baud rate 115200) to connect. The default credentials are admin / admin.

What is the total PoE power available?

The switch can provide up to 250 W total across all PoE+ ports, with a maximum of 30 W per port.

What should I do if the switch does not power on?

Check that the power cable is properly connected to the power outlet and the switch. Try a different power outlet. If the problem persists, contact TP-Link customer service.

How do I reset the switch to factory settings?

Press and hold the Reset button (located on the front panel) for about 10 seconds, then release. The switch will restart with factory default settings.

Can I stack multiple T1500-28PCT switches?

This model does not support physical stacking. You can interconnect them via SFP or Ethernet ports and manage them individually.

What safety precautions should I follow?

Do not disassemble the device. Do not use it near water. Unplug the power cord to power off the switch. Only qualified personnel should perform repairs.

Desktop Installation

To install the device on the desktop, please follow the steps below:

1. Set the device on a flat surface strong enough to support the entire weight of the device with all fittings.
2. Remove the adhesive backing papers from the rubber feet.
3. Turn over the device and attach the supplied rubber feet to the recessed areas on the bottom at each corner of the device.

Rack Installation

To install the device in a rack, follow the instructions described below:

1. Check the grounding and stability of the rack.
2. Secure the supplied rack-mounting brackets to each side of the device with supplied screws.

1. After the brackets are attached to the device, use suitable screws (not provided) to secure the brackets to the rack.

Connection

- Ethernet Port

Connect an Ethernet port of the switch to the computer using an RJ45 cable, as shown in the following figure.

- SFP Port

For switches with SFP ports, you can connect an SFP port to an SFP module. If an SFP transceiver is installed in a slot and has a valid link on the port, the associated RJ45 port will be disabled and cannot be used.

- Console Port

For switches with a console port, you can connect the console port to your computer using the console cable. Then you can use the CLI to manage the switch.

- Power On

Plug the female connector of the provided power cord into the power socket of the device, and the male connector into a power outlet.

Configuration

- Configure the Switch Using the GUI

1. Set the IP address of your PC to be in the same subnet as the switch. The IP address is 192.168.0.x (where "x" is any number from 2 to 254); the Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0.
2. Open a web browser and type the default management address http://192.168.0.1 in the address field of the browser, then press the Enter key.
3. Enter admin for the default User Name and Password, both in lower case letters. Then click the Login button or press the Enter key.
4. After a successful login, you can configure the switch on the management page.

- Configure the Switch Using the CLI (Only for Smart Switches and Managed Switches)

You can log on to the switch and access the CLI to manage the switch. For detailed instructions, please refer to the CLI Guide.

- Configure the Switch Using the Utility (Only for Easy Smart Switches)
