How to use AUTO mode to take photos?
Place the mode dial to AUTO. The camera automatically selects optimal settings (exposure, focus, sensitivity). Press the shutter button halfway to focus, then press fully to take the photo.
How to change the lens?
Turn off the camera. Press the lens release button while turning the lens counterclockwise. Align the red dot on the new lens mount with the one on the camera body and turn clockwise until it clicks.
How to clean the CMOS sensor?
Use the Sensor Cleaning function in the Preferences menu to remove dust via ultrasound. If dirt persists, use a blower (never aerosol). For deep cleaning, contact PENTAX after-sales service.
Which batteries can I use?
You can use the rechargeable lithium-ion battery D‑LI109 (supplied) or the battery tray D‑BH109 with four AA batteries (alkaline, lithium, or Ni-MH rechargeable). The AA battery type must be set in the Preferences menu.
How to use the built-in flash?
Press the Flash pop-up button (▼). The flash pops up. In AUTO mode, it fires automatically if needed. You can select a flash mode (auto, forced, red-eye reduction, slow sync) using the ◀ direct key.
How to manually set the white balance?
In standby mode, press INFO to open the parameter setting screen. Select White Balance and choose a preset (daylight, tungsten, etc.) or Manual setting by photographing a neutral surface. You can also enter a color temperature in Kelvin.
How to manually focus?
Set the focus mode selector to MF. Rotate the focus ring on the lens until the image is sharp in the viewfinder or on the Live View screen. An indicator in the viewfinder confirms focus.
How to record a video?
Set the mode dial to (Video). Press the LV button to display Live View. Press the shutter button to start recording, press again to stop. You can adjust resolution and frame rate in the Video menu.
How to transfer photos to a computer?
Connect the camera to the computer using the supplied USB cable. Set the USB connection mode to MSC (mass storage) or PTP in the Preferences menu. The computer recognizes the camera as a removable drive; copy files to the hard disk.
How to reset all camera settings?
Go to the Preferences menu () and select Reset. Choose Reset to restore default settings. Date, time, and photographer information are not erased.
