How to activate the shake reduction function on the K100D Super?

Flip the shake reduction switch on top of the camera. When the shutter button is pressed halfway, the SR icon appears in the viewfinder indicating stabilization is active. Turn it off if using a tripod.

What types of batteries can I use with the K100D Super?

You can use 2 CR-V3 (non-rechargeable) batteries or 4 AA lithium, rechargeable Ni-MH, or alkaline batteries. Ni-MH batteries are recommended for heavy use. Do not use rechargeable CR-V3 batteries.

How to set the date and time on the camera?

Turn on the camera, press the MENU button, navigate to the Preferences tab, select Date setting. Use the arrow keys to set the format, date, and time. Confirm with OK.

What to do if the camera does not autofocus?

Check that the focus mode switch is set to AF. If the subject has low contrast (white wall), is very bright (backlit), or moves quickly, focusing may fail. Switch to manual focus (MF) by turning the lens ring.

How to use the built-in flash in forced mode?

Press the UP button (located near the flash) to manually raise the flash. The flash will fire for every shot, regardless of mode. To return to automatic, push the flash down.

What scene modes are available and how to select them?

Turn the mode dial to SCN, then press Fn and OK. Choose from: Night scene, Beach & Snow, Text, Sunset, Children, Pet, Candlelight, Museum. Confirm with OK.

How to clean the sensor of the K100D Super?

Go to the Preferences menu, select Sensor cleaning. The camera will vibrate the CCD to dislodge dust. If needed, use a blower after raising the mirror (see manual p.189). Avoid direct contact with the sensor.

Why are photos blurry even with stabilization enabled?

Stabilization compensates for camera shake, not subject movement. If the subject moves, increase shutter speed or use Moving object mode. In macro, stabilization is less effective; use a tripod.

How to print directly from the camera?

Connect the camera to a PictBridge compatible printer via USB cable. In playback mode, select the desired image, press MENU, then choose Print and follow instructions. You can print a single image or all.

What to do if the memory card is not recognized?

Check that the card is inserted correctly (label facing the LCD screen). If it is new or was used on another device, format it via Preferences > Format. Make sure the write-protect switch is unlocked.
