How do I charge the battery of my OPTIO L40?
Use the supplied D-BC63 charger. Connect the AC power cord to the charger, then insert the battery (PENTAX logo facing up). The red indicator lights up during charging and turns off when charging is complete (approx. 120 min). Recommended ambient temperature: 0-40°C.
How do I set the date and time?
Turn on the camera. If the initial setting screen does not appear, press MENU, go to the Settings tab (wrench icon), then select Date setting. Use the navigation keys to change the format, date, and time. Press OK to confirm.
Which memory card can I use?
The camera accepts SD and SDHC cards. Insert the card into the slot (label facing the lens) until it clicks. To remove, push it in again. Built-in memory (approx. 21.9 MB) is used if no card is inserted.
How do I use the zoom?
In shooting mode, press the zoom control (T side to enlarge, W side to widen). The optical zoom is 3x. Then, digital zoom (up to 4x) can be activated in the menu [Rec Mode] > Digital Zoom.
How do I delete a photo?
In playback mode, display the image to delete. Press the green (trash) button. Use the ▲▼ keys to select Delete, then press OK. To delete multiple images, use the 9-thumbnail display and the Select & delete function.
Can I record videos with this camera?
Yes. Select the Video mode from the shooting mode palette (press ▼). Press the shutter button to start recording, press again to stop. You can choose quality (640x480 or 320x240) and frame rate (30 or 15 fps) in the menu.
How do I print directly without a computer?
Connect the camera to a PictBridge-compatible printer via the USB cable. Make sure the USB connection mode is set to PictBridge (Settings menu). On the printer, follow the on-screen instructions to print one photo, all, or according to DPOF settings.
What should I do if the LCD monitor is damaged?
Watch out for glass fragments. Avoid any contact of the liquid crystal with skin, eyes, or mouth. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water and consult a doctor. Bring the camera to an authorized PENTAX service center.
How do I transfer my photos to a computer?
Set the USB connection mode to PC in the Settings menu. Connect the camera to the computer via the USB cable. The computer will recognize the camera as a removable drive. Copy the files (DCIM folder) to your hard drive. Use the supplied ACDSee software if desired.
What do the icons on the screen mean?
The screen displays information such as shooting mode (e.g., AUTO PICT), flash mode, battery status, number of remaining photos, date/time, etc. For more details, refer to the Screen Indications section of the manual (pages 16-18). You can also press OK/DISPLAY to change the display.
