How to charge the battery of the Optio 550?
Use the provided D-BC7 charger. Connect the AC power cord to the charger, then place the D-Li7 battery into the charger with the label facing up. The red indicator shows charging, green when finished (approx. 180 min).

Open the card/battery compartment cover. Insert the card with the symbol facing the lens and the connector toward the slot until it clicks. Close the cover. To remove, press the card to eject it.
How to take a photo in automatic mode?
Turn on the camera, set the mode dial to P (Program). Frame the subject on the LCD monitor, then press the shutter button halfway for focus, then fully to take the photo.
