Is the camera really waterproof? Can I take it underwater?

Yes, the Optio W10 complies with IP58 (JIS class 8 for water, class 5 for dust). You can use it underwater up to 1.5 meters depth for 30 minutes. Make sure the battery/card compartment is properly locked before immersion.

What types of battery can I use?

The camera uses exclusively the rechargeable lithium-ion battery D-LI8. Never use other batteries, they could explode or damage the camera. The included charger (D-BC8) fully charges the battery in about 100 minutes.

How do I maintain the waterproofing after a trip to the sea or beach?

After use in salty or sandy environments, turn off the camera, ensure the compartment is closed, then rinse it with running water or immerse it for a few minutes in a bowl of clean water. Wipe it with a soft cloth. Never use soap, detergent, or alcohol.

Can I use the camera without an SD memory card?

Yes, the camera has internal memory of approximately 10.5 MB. Photos and videos will be saved there automatically if no SD card is inserted. However, capacity is very limited (a few high-resolution images).

How do I record a video underwater?

Select the "Underwater Movie" mode in the shooting mode palette. This mode optimizes white balance and sensitivity for underwater results. Press the shutter button to start video recording, and press it again to stop.

What should I do if the screen displays "Battery exhausted"?

This message indicates the battery is depleted. Turn off the camera, open the compartment, remove the battery and recharge it with the D-BC8 charger. If the battery discharges very quickly after full charge, it is at the end of its life and should be replaced.

How do I transfer my photos to a computer?

Connect the camera to the computer using the supplied USB cable. Ensure the USB connection mode is set to "PC" (Settings menu > USB Connection). The computer will recognize the camera as a removable drive; you can then copy the files.

Can I print directly from the camera?

Yes, if your printer is PictBridge compatible. Connect the camera to the printer via USB cable, set the USB connection mode to "PictBridge", then select the images to print from the camera menu.

How can I recover a accidentally deleted photo?

The camera has an "Image Recovery" function. Go to the playback menu, open the playback mode palette, select the recovery icon, then choose the image to recover. Note: this function is only available if no new photo has been taken since deletion.

What are the recommended optional accessories?

Official accessories include: spare D-LI8 battery, K-AC8 AC adapter kit (for extended use), higher capacity SD memory card, and AV cable for TV viewing. The D-BC8 charger can be used abroad with a suitable plug adapter.
