How to insert batteries into the Optio S60?

Slide and lift the battery compartment cover. Insert two AA batteries or one CR-V3 battery, observing the indicated polarities (+/−). Close the cover and slide to lock. Make sure the camera is off before opening the compartment.

What memory card can I use?

The camera uses an SD memory card. Insert it into the slot, label facing the LCD screen, until it clicks. The built-in memory (11 MB) is used when no card is inserted.

How to take a photo in auto mode?

Set the mode dial to (Auto select). Frame your subject on the LCD screen, then press the shutter button halfway to focus. When the focus frame turns green, press fully to take the picture. The camera automatically selects the optimal settings.

How to use the zoom?

In capture mode, operate the zoom lever: toward T (telephoto) to enlarge the subject, toward W (wide-angle) to widen the field. The digital zoom activates automatically when you push beyond the optical zoom. You can disable digital zoom in the menu [Rec. Mode] > Digital Zoom.

How to change the flash mode?

In capture mode (except video), press the navigation button ◀ (left) repeatedly to cycle through flash modes: Auto, Flash off, Flash on, Auto+red-eye, Flash on+red-eye. The corresponding icon is displayed on the screen.

How to transfer photos to a computer?

Connect the camera to the computer using the supplied USB cable. Turn on the camera in playback mode. The USB setting must be set to 'Computer' (menu [Preferences] > USB Connection). The computer recognizes the camera as a removable drive; copy the files to your hard disk.

What should I do if the screen shows 'Batteries exhausted' even though the batteries are new?

This message may appear after purchase or if the batteries have been removed for a long time. Wait a few moments and then turn the camera back on. If the problem persists, check the polarity and cleanliness of the contacts. Note that the date and settings may be reset.

How to clean the lens or LCD screen?

Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly moistened (clean water) or a specific optical product. Never use thinners, alcohol, or gasoline. Wipe gently. For the LCD screen, avoid pressing hard.

How to reset all settings to default?

Press the MENU button, go to the [Preferences] tab (key icon), then select Reset. Confirm with OK. The date, language, and time settings return to factory defaults.

How to use the self-timer?

In capture mode, press the navigation button ▲ (up) to display the self-timer (10 s or 2 s) icon. Frame, then press the shutter button fully. The indicator blinks and the photo is taken after the delay. Use a tripod to avoid blur.
