How to charge the battery of the Optio S6?

Use the supplied D-BC8 charger. Connect the power cord, insert the battery with the PENTAX logo facing up. The red indicator shows charging; it turns green when the battery is full (approx. 100 minutes).

What types of memory cards are compatible?

The camera accepts SD memory cards. Insert with the label facing the LCD screen until it clicks. A write-protect switch allows locking the data.

How to transfer photos to a computer?

Set the USB mode to PC in the [USB Connection] menu. Connect the supplied USB cable to the camera and computer. The camera appears as a removable disk.

Can I use the Optio S6 without a memory card?

Yes, the camera has about 23 MB of built-in memory. However, for extensive use, an SD card is recommended.

How to take panoramic pictures?

Select Panorama assist mode in the palette. Choose the direction of stitching. Take the first photo, then align the semi-transparent edge to frame the next. Final stitching is done on a computer with the supplied software.

What to do if the LCD screen remains black?

Check that the camera is on. Press the OK/Display button to activate the screen. If the problem persists, the battery may be dead; recharge it.

How to avoid red eyes in photos?

Use Auto+Red-eye or Flash on+Red-eye flash mode. You can also correct red eyes after capture via Red-eye reduction in the edit menu.

What is the maximum video recording time?

It depends on the SD card and selected quality. With a 128 MB card in ★★★ (excellent) quality, about 5 minutes at 640x480 and 14 minutes at 320x240.

How to reset the camera settings?

Go to the [Capture settings] menu → [Reset] and confirm. This returns all settings (except date and time) to factory defaults.

Can I use the camera as a voice recorder?

Yes, select Voice recording mode via the palette. Press the shutter to start recording (max duration 2h13 with a 128 MB card). Files are in WAV format.
