Save them for future reference.
- Read all the instructions and warning labels on the log splitter before using it, to understand its application, limitations and potential risks.
- Never use the log splitter if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
- Keep the work area clean and well lit. Cluttered work areas increase the risk of accidents and injuries.
- Do not use the log splitter in damp or wet areas. Do not expose the log splitter to rain.
- Do not use the log splitter in explosive environments, such as in the vicinity of flammable liquids, gases or dust.
- Always check the log splitter before using it. Safety devices must be fitted correctly and function properly. Always check that Allan keys/spanners etc. have been removed from the log splitter before starting it. Replace any damaged, missing or broken parts prior to use.
- Do not wear loose-fitting clothes, jewellery, or watches etc. that can fasten in moving parts. They can get caught in moving parts.
• We recommend wearing safety gloves that are not electrically conductive and non-slip shoes. Wear a hair net if you have long hair.
- The log splitter can eject objects that can cause permanent eye injuries. Always wear safety glasses and/or a visor. Normal glasses only have shock-resistant lenses.
• They are not safety glasses.
- Do not use the log splitter with it placed on the floor or the ground. This will result in a difficult working position, where the user's face comes close to the log splitter – risk of being hit by splinters etc.
- The log splitter must only be used by one person at once. Keep onlookers at a safe distance when using the log splitter. Never allow anyone to help you release logs that have got stuck.
- Check that there are no nails or other foreign objects in the logs. The ends of the logs must be cut at right angles. Branches must be cut off flush with the log.
• The surface must not be slippery.
• Always maintain a firm footing and good balance.
- Never stand on the log splitter. You could be seriously injured if the log splitter tips over, or if you come into contact with sharp parts. Do not store anything above or near the log splitter, where someone could be tempted to stand on it to reach up.
• Pay attention to the movements the log splitter makes.
- Do not attempt to add or remove logs until the piston has stopped in its home position. Keep your hands away from all moving parts.
- Keep your hands at a safe distance from cracks that open up in the wood. These cracks can suddenly close, and crush or cut off your hands.
• Do not attempt to release a log that has got stuck with your hands.
- The log splitter will work better and more safely at the load for which it is intended. Do not attempt to split logs larger than as specified in the technical data. This could result in a risk of serious personal injury and/or material damage.
• Only use the log splitter for its intended purpose.
- Do not leave the log splitter until it has come to a complete standstill.
• Used oil must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
- Keep the log splitter clean for better and safer work.

PREPARATIONS
- Place the log splitter on a level, stable and horizontal surface.
• Familiarise yourself with the controls on the log splitter and how to use them.
Undo the vent screw.
NOTE:
- Compressed air will remain in the hydraulic system if the vent screw is not unscrewed. This will destroy the seals and permanently damage the log splitter.
-
Check that the vent screw is properly tightened before moving the log splitter, to avoid oil leaking out.
-
Undo the vent screw (Diagram 20) a few turns so that air can flow in and out of the oil tank. The flow of air through the vent hole should be noticeable when the log splitter is in use.

Control system
- The control system on the log splitter must be operated with one hand on each control lever (Diagram 24)

natural_image
Mechanical device with attached motors and wheels, no visible text or symbols- If you release one of the levers the log splitter will stop moving. The piston will only start moving back to it home position when you release both levers.
• The log splitter has a two-way valve to control the speed (Diagram 25).
— Press down the levers a little for quick forward movement.
- Press them down fully for lower speed during splitting.

natural_image
Close-up of mechanical components with numbered annotations (1, 2) and a page number 25 in the corner, no readable text or symbols beyond labels.1 = fast
2 = slow
NOTE:
• Never press the levers down for more than 5 seconds when trying to split hard logs.
- Pressing down the levers for longer can cause the hydraulic oil to overheat and damage the log splitter. If the log won't split, turn it 90^ and try again.
• If the log still does not split, discard it.
Starting the engine
NOTE: Allow the engine to warm up for at least 1 minute with no load after starting it.
- Check the oil level in the engine (Diagram 26). The oil tank holds approx. 0.6 litres of oil, SAE10W-30. The engine switches off automatically when the oil level is too low.

- Fill the petrol tank with unleaded 95 octane petrol.
- Open the fuel cock by moving the arm to the right (Diagram 27).
- Close the choke by moving the arm to the left. NOTE: You do not need to use the choke when the engine is hot.
- Move the throttle to the left (Diagram 28).

- Put the engine switch in the ON position.
- Pull the starter cord slowly until it catches, and then pull quickly. You may need to pull it 5 times before it starts.
- When the engine has started, move the choke arm to the half-open position. After 15 seconds, open the choke fully by moving the arm to the right. NOTE: The engine will stop if the choke is opened too soon.
- Use the throttle to adjust the speed.
Switching off
- Move the throttle to the left (idling mode).
- Put the engine switch in the OFF position.
- Close the fuel cock by moving the arm to the left.
Handling workpieces
• Always place logs firms on the workbench with the log support.
• Position the log so that it cannot twist, wobble or slide away during the splitting.
- Do not put the log on the top part of the blade, this can damage the blade and/or the log splitter.
- Logs must be split along the length of the grain. Never attempt to split a log across the direction of the grain with the log splitter: risk of personal injury and/or material damage.
- Never attempt to split two or more logs at the same time. One of them could be thrown out and cause personal injury and/or material damage.

natural_image
Technical line drawing of a mechanical device with intersecting diagonal lines (no text or symbols)Loosening jammed logs
NOTE: Never attempt to knock or tap a jammed log loose. This could damage the log splitter, or cause the log to suddenly come loose and cause personal injury.
- Release both levers. When the piston has gone back and stopped in the home position, place a wooden wedge under jammed log.
- Run the log splitter so that the wedge is pressed in under the jammed log. Repeat with thicker wedges until the log comes loose.

natural_image

Changing the hydraulic oil
The hydraulic oil in the log splitter should be changed after an interval of 150 working hours. Check at regular intervals that the oil level is between the two markings on the dipstick. Top up the hydraulic oil if the level is too low.
- Switch off the engine and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped.
- Place a container that holds at least 4 litres under the oil drain plug. Unscrew and remove the plug. Allow the oil to run out.
- Clean the oil drain plug and replace. Fill up with new hydraulic oil. The hydraulic oil tank holds 4 l. Check that no oil is leaking out.
- Remove and clean the oil tank cap and dipstick, and then replace in the tank. Remove the dipstick again and check that the oil level is between the two markings.

natural_image
