How to charge the battery of the Olympus E-P1?
Use the supplied BCS-1 charger. Plug the charger into a power outlet, insert the BLS-1 battery in the correct orientation. The orange light indicates charging, blue when finished (approx. 3h30).
How to insert an SD card into the camera?
Turn off the camera. Open the battery/card compartment cover. Insert the SD/SDHC card until it clicks, contacts facing forward. Close the cover. Never remove the card when the access lamp is blinking.
How to change the lens on the E-P1?
Turn off the camera. Press and hold the lens release button, then turn the lens in the direction of the arrow to remove it. To mount a new lens, align the red dots and turn until it clicks.
How to reset the camera settings?
Go to the [RESET] menu (Setup menu). This resets most parameters to factory defaults. Some settings like language or USB mode are not reset.
How to clean the sensor of the Olympus E-P1?
The SSWF (Super Sonic Wave Filter) system automatically activates ultrasonic vibrations at power-on to remove dust. For manual cleaning, use a suitable tool after removing the lens, or have it serviced by an authorized center.
How to use an external flash with the E-P1?
The camera does not have a built-in flash. Attach a compatible flash on the hot shoe. Set the flash mode via the menu (Auto, forced, slow sync, etc.). See chapter 5 of the manual.
How to record a video with the E-P1?
Turn the mode dial to Video (camera icon). Press the shutter button to start recording, press again to stop. You can use P or A modes, and add artistic effects.
How to adjust exposure manually?
In M (manual) mode, use the main dial to set shutter speed and the secondary dial for aperture. In A or S mode, turn the corresponding dial. Exposure compensation is done with the +/- button.
How to apply an art filter?
Set the mode dial to ART. Use the live view control or menu to select a filter: Pop Art, Soft Focus, Grainy Film, etc. The effect is visible in real time.
How to connect the E-P1 to a TV?
Use the supplied AV cable (multi-connector) or a mini HDMI cable (type C, optional). Connect to the TV, put the camera in playback mode. Images and videos display on the TV screen.
