Frequently Asked Questions - GL 2000 IMETEC

What are the three cooking positions of the Imetec GL 2000 grill?
The grill can be used in three positions: touching plates for searing and quick cooking, open plates at 180° for a larger surface, and parallel plates with a 5 cm gap for delicate foods like pizza or open sandwiches.
How do I clean the removable plates and drip trays?
The plates and drip trays can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher at a maximum temperature of 55°C. For stubborn residue, soak them in hot water with detergent before cleaning.
Can I use the grill without the plates?
No, never use the grill without the plates. The appliance is designed to operate only with the plates properly installed.
What does the green LED indicate?
The green ready-for-use LED lights up when the plates have reached the set temperature. It may cycle on and off during cooking to maintain the temperature.
How do I assemble the plates?
Slide the plates into the rear securing hooks, then lower them onto the front hooks until you hear a click. Ensure they are securely locked in place.
What foods can I cook with the parallel plate position?
The parallel position is ideal for delicate foods that should not be pressed, such as pizza, open toast, lasagne, and gratin dishes. The upper plate does not touch the food, allowing gentle heating.
Is the grill safe to use near water?
No, do not use the grill near a washbasin full of water or in damp conditions. Never submerge the appliance in water or place it under running water.
What should I do if the power cord is damaged?
If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an authorized technical service center to prevent any risk. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.
Can children use this appliance?
Children aged 8 and above can use the grill only if supervised or instructed on safe use. Children under 8 must be kept away from the appliance when in use or cooling down. Cleaning should be done by adults.
How do I store the excess power cord?
The manual does not specify cord storage, but ensure the cord is fully unwound during use and stored loosely when not in use to avoid damage.

ASSEMBLY

IMETEC GL 2000 - ASSEMBLY - 1

ATTENTION!

  • NOT touch the plates and the outer surfaces during operation. Pay particular attention when positioning the plates.
  • NEVER place the grill on paper/cardboard or plastic surfaces. Place the grill on a flat and regular surface.
  • Unwind the power cord completely before use.
  • When used the first time, the grill could emit some smoke or smell, due to possible manufacturing residue. Wait a few minutes before inserting the food.

  • Slide the plates (8) (9) into the rear securing hooks (12) [A].

  • Lower the plates (8) (9) on to the front securing hooks (11) until a click is heard [B].

OPERATION

The grill can be used in 3 different positions. The position depends on the type of food or context in which it is used.

Touching plates [C]

In this position, the food is cooked from the top and bottom simultaneously, in half the time. This method enhances the flavour of the meat (steaks, hamburgers, etc.), which remains tender and succulent. The initial high temperature (250°) forms a crust on the entire surface of the food that seals in the juices.

This position is also suitable for bread rolls and toasted sandwiches.

Open plates at 180° [D]

In this position, the cooking surface is doubled and therefore more food can be cooked, which will be ready simultaneously. Also ideal for cooking meat and vegetables together, however, this will require more time.

Parallel plates [E]

Particularly delicate food can be toasted/heated with the plates in this position, which cannot be touched or pressed by the upper plate (pizza, open toast, etc.). Also ideal to warm cooked food or food still in the pan (lasagne, etc): the upper part, which must not touch the plates, will be cooked au gratin.

The distance between the two plates is 5 cm.

Cooking times can vary according to the thickness, food temperature and personal taste: this table provides a few indicative cooking times.

IMETEC GL 2000 - Parallel plates [E] - 1

USEFUL ADVICE

• Always warm the plates before placing the food.
- Particularly thick meat must first be cooked at maximum temperature, then at a lower temperature, so as to allow the heat to also reach inside.
- Sausages tend to crackle while cooking. Prick them with a fork before cooking.
- A better result is achieved with fresh meat rather than defrosted or frozen meat.
- Vegetables can be brushed with oil before being grilled.
- Wrap food that is to be defrosted in aluminium foil and warm them slowly at the lowest temperature.
- All food (as long as they are not too fatty or full of liquid) can be cooked wrapped in greaseproof paper, so as not to dirty the plates.

USE

Proceed as follows after having assembled the appliance:

  • Insert the electric plug (14) in the socket.
  • Close the grill and insert the liquid drain tray (15).
  • Select the desired cooking temperature by turning the thermostat (4) [F].
  • Set the switch O / I (1) to position I: the mains connection red LED (5) lights up.
  • Wait for the ready-for-use green LED (6) to light up and proceed with the cooking according to the desired plate position:

Cooking with touching plates

  • Open the upper plate (8) completely [G].
  • Insert the food only on the lower plate (9).
  • Close the upper plate (8), placing it well on to the food, and make sure it remains parallel to the lower plate (9) [C].

Cooking with open plates at 180°

  • Open the upper plate (8) to 90^ (slightly before being opened completely) and lift it for the two upper pins to come out from the rear feet (7) [H].
  • Turn the upper plate (8) 180^ and insert the liquid drain tray (16) into the handle [I].
  • Insert the food on both plates and turn it over halfway through cooking, if necessary [D].

Cooking with parallel plates

  • Open the upper plate (8) completely [G].
  • Insert the food only on the lower plate (9).
  • Move the upper plate slightly forward (8) to 90^ (slightly before reaching the stroke end) and lift it for the two upper pins to come out from the rear feet (7) [H].
  • Pull and turn the upper plate forward (8) for the two pins to rest in the relative housing [L].

- The ready-for-use green LED (6) goes off every now and again during cooking to indicate that the plates are warming up, thereby guaranteeing the pre-set temperature.

- Pay attention not to scratch the non-stick coating when removing the food.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Turn the grill off by setting the switch O / I (1) to O.
  • Remove the electric plug (14) from the socket.
  • Let the grill cool down completely.
  • Remove the plates (8) (9) by opening the front securing hooks (11) and lifting them upwards.
  • Wash the removable components: the plates (8) (9) and the liquid drain containers (15) (16) by hand or in the dishwasher.
  • In the dishwasher, the maximum temperature of the water must not exceed 55^ .
  • In case of crusty residue on the plates (8) and (9), place them in hot water with detergent for a few minutes.
  • Clean the metal body (2) with a damp, well-wrung sponge.
  • Dry with a dry cloth.
