Safety
Intended use
The tea maker is exclusively designed to heat and keep warm quantities of water which are customary for domestic use.
This appliance is intended for use in the home or for similar applications such as:
– in kitchens for employees in stores, offices and other commercial operations;
– in agricultural operations;
– by customers in hotels, motels and other residential facilities;
– in bed and breakfasts.
Use the appliance exclusively as described in this user manual. Any other use is deemed improper and may result in damage to property or even personal injury. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use.

WARNING
Risks in handling household electrical appliances
Risk of electric shock! The appliance operates on 220–240 V\~/50-60 Hz mains voltage. Touching live parts may result in severe injury or death.
■ Only connect the appliance if the mains voltage at the socket corresponds to what is indicated on the name-plate.
■ The appliance corresponds to protection class I and may only be connected to a plug with a protective conductor that has
been properly installed. Do not connect to a multiple socket outlet, power strip, timer or to a separate remote-controlled system for distance monitoring and control.
■ Do not operate or continue to operate the appliance
■ if it has visible damage, e.g. the mains cable is defective.
■ if it starts smoking or there is a smell of burning.
■ it makes unfamiliar noises. In this case, you should pull the mains plug out of the socket and have the appliance repaired (see ‘Service’ on page 28).
■ If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
■ Changes and repairs to the appliance may be carried out only by authorised specialists, such as our Service team (see Seite 28). Unauthorised repairs to the appliance can cause prop-
erty damage and personal injury, and invalidate liability and warranty claims.
Never try to repair a defective or suspected defective appliance yourself.
■ Only parts corresponding to the original appliance specifications may be used for repairs.
This appliance contains electrical and mechanical parts which are essential for protection against potential sources of danger.
■ Only use the appliance with its original socket, plug and cord.
■ Always pull the mains plug out of the socket prior to cleaning and maintenance, when the appliance is not in use and if an error occurs.
■ Ensure that children do not place any objects into the appliance.
- Keep the appliance, the mains plug and the mains cable away from open flames and hot surfaces.
■ Ensure that the mains cable does not come into contact with hot parts.
■ Do not kink or clamp the mains cable. This can result in a break in the cable.
■ Never pull the mains plug out of the socket by the mains cable; always hold the mains plug itself.
■ Never use the mains cable as a carrying handle.
■ Never touch the mains plug with wet hands.
■ Never submerge the appliance and base in water.
■ Make sure that water is never spilled over the contact pin on the base.
■ Only use the appliance indoors. Do not use in wet rooms or in the rain.
■ Never store the appliance in such a way that it can fall into a bathtub or sink.
■ Never touch an electrical appliance if it has fallen into water. In such a case, immediately unplug the mains plug from the socket.
■ Do not immerse the appliance itself or the mains cable or mains plug or base (socket) in water or other liquids.
■ Thoroughly dry all parts after cleaning.
Risks associated with handling household appliances which heat up Fire hazard!
The appliance will become very hot during operation. Flammable objects placed close to the appliance may ignite easily.
■ Do not set up the appliance near fl ammable objects such as curtains.
■ Never place the appliance on or near hot surfaces such as hobs, ovens, etc.
■ Do not cover the appliance, e.g. with cloths or similar
Risks caused by hot liquids and steam
Risk of scalding! While using the kettle, hot steam will come out which can lead to scalding.
■ Avoid any contact with the hot steam during the heating process, when refi lling the water tank and when the lid is open. Keep your face away from it in particular.
■ Do not open the lid during operation.
■ Allow the hot appliance to cool for at least 5 minutes prior to filling with cold water.
If the water tank is overfi lled or the lid is open, hot water can spurt out during boiling. This can lead to scalding.
■ Do not fill the water tank past the MAX mark.
■ Ensure that the lid is closed during operation.
■ Leave the tea strainer in the water tank during operation.
If the appliance falls down, contact with hot water can lead to scalding.
■ Do not allow the mains cord to hang over the edge of the worktop on which the appliance is standing.
■ Do not place the water tank on the edge of the worktop.
Drinking water that is boiling hot can cause scalding.
■ Take care when drinking freshly heated water.
Health hazard
Health hazard!
Improper use of the appli- ance can lead to damage to health.
■ Always throw away the first batch of boiled water from a new kettle for hygiene reasons.
■ During first use, after de-calcification and after having not used the appliance for a prolonged period of time, fi ll the water tank completely, heat it up and throw the water away.
Risks to children
Risk of suffocation!
Children can become entangled in the packaging film and suffocate.
■ Do not allow children to play with the packaging film.

CAUTION
Risks for certain groups of people
Dangers for children and people with limited physical, sensory or mental capacity! Children often fail to recognise hazards or underestimate them.
■ This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and
user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
- Keep the appliance and its connection cables away from children aged eight years and under.
■ Do not leave the appliance unsupervised while in operation.
■ Do not allow the mains cord to hang over the edge of the worktop on which the appliance is standing.
■ Do not allow children to play with the packaging fi lm. Children could become caught in it and suffocate.
Risks when handling the appliance
Risk of burns!
The appliance will become very hot during operation and also remains hot for some time after switching it off. Touching the hot appliance can lead to burns.
■ The appliance will remain hot for some time after switching off.
■ Only touch the appliance by the handle.
■ Allow the appliance to cool completely prior to cleaning it.
! NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the appliance may result in damage.
■ Never expose the appliance to high temperatures (heating etc.) or weather (rain etc.).
■ Do not expose the appliance to temperatures below 0 °C for prolonged periods. Residual water that may have frozen could damage the appliance. If the appliance is used at temperatures of less than +5 °C and over +40 °C it may lead to faults in the electronics.
■ Only use the appliance if it is on a flat, stable and non-sensitive surface.
■ Never operate the appliance when empty.
■ Only fi ll it with fresh, cold drinking water; do not fi ll it with other liquids in the water tank.
■ Please keep in mind that furniture surface coatings sometimes contain chemical additives that may corrode the rubber feet of the appliance. This may cause residue to accumulate on the surface of the furniture. You must therefore place a heat- and water-resistant layer beneath the appliance.
■ Do not set up the appliance under kitchen cupboards. They could be damaged by the steam that is emitted.
■ Do not use sharp objects to unpack the appliance.
■ Never immerse the appliance in water to clean it.
■ Do not put the appliance or individual parts of the appliance in a dishwasher.
■ Do not use a steam cleaner to clean it. This can cause short-circuiting and could damage the appliance.
■ Do not use any solvent-based, abrasive or scouring cleaners (e.g. oven or grill spray) or cleaning utensils such as scouring pads or similar. These could scratch the surfaces.
■ Do not use any abrasive cleaners (scouring or thinning agents) to clean the appliance and accessories. They could damage the surface of the appliance.
Start-up
Unpacking the appliance

NOTICE
Risk of damage! Improper handling of the ap- pliance may result in damage.
■ Do not use sharp objects to unpack the appliance.
- Unpack the appliance.
- Carefully remove all parts of the packaging, plastic profiles, tape and foam padding.
Choose a suitable location
- Position the appliance on a solid, level, non-sensitive surface.
- Do not position the appliance under an overhead cupboard.
- Position the appliance in such a way that there is enough space above it to open the lid.
- Do not place the appliance directly on or next to a stove or any other heat source.
- Set up the appliance in such a way that it is out of the reach of children.
Setting up the appliance

WARNING
Health hazard! Improper use of the appli- ance can lead to damage to health.
■ Always throw away the first batch of boiled water from a new kettle for hygiene reasons.
■ During first use, after de-calcification and after having not used the appliance for a prolonged period of time, fi ll the water tank completely, heat it up and throw the water away.
- Clean the appliance as described in section see ‘Cleaning and maintenance’ on page 23.

- Wind the mains cable (27) around the bottom of the base (8) and thread the mains cable through the notch (26) in the socket.
- Insert the mains plug into a properly installed and easily accessible socket.
- Fill the water tank (11) with fresh tap water to the MAX fill level indicator (7) and heat it as described in section ‘Operation’ on page 15.
- Pour this first batch away after heating.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 two to three times.
Operation
Requirements for safe use
- You have read the chapter entitled ‘Safety’ from page 6.
- You have set up the appliance as described in chapter 'Start-up' on page 13.
Filling with water

- Turn the lid (1) in an anti-clock-wise direction until the marking on the lid displays and you hear a click.
- Remove the lid.
- Fill the water tank (11) with fresh, cold tap water. Pay attention to the fill level indicator (7) when filling with liquid.
Fill to a minimum of
- 0.5 litres and a maximum of 1.7 litres if using the appliance as a kettle.
- 0.5 litres and a maximum of 1.0 litres if you are preparing tea.

- Turn the lid in a clockwise direction until the marking shows 🔒 and it audibly clicks into place.

- Place the water tank (11) on the base (8).
Making tea

WARNING
Risk of scalding!
If the water tank is overfi lled or the lid is open, hot water may spurt out when boiling the liquid. This may cause scalding.
■ Do not fill the water tank past the MAX mark.
■ Ensure that the lid is closed during operation.
Risk of burns!
The appliance will become very hot during operation. Touching the hot appliance and the tea strainer may lead to burns.
■ Only touch the appliance by the handle.
■ Only touch the tea strainer after it has been allowed to cool.

NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the appliance may result in damage.
■ Never use the kettle without water.
■ Fill the water tank at least to the MIN mark and no further than the MAX mark.

After switching off, it takes 15–20 seconds before the kettle is ready for use again.
- Connect the mains plug to a properly installed and easily accessible socket.
- Fill the water tank (11) with fresh, cold tap water. Pay close attention to the fill level indicator (7).
Fill to a minimum of 0.5 litres and a maximum of 1.0 litres.

- Remove the lid (3) of the tea strainer.
- Place tea leaves in the tea strainer (4).
- Close the tea strainer with an audible click.
- Open the lid (1) of the water tank.

- Place the tea strainer on the pot column.
-
Twist the lid of the water tank closed until you hear it click into place. Use the markings to guide you.
-
Place the water tank on the base with contact pin. The display will show a brewing temperature of 100^ C and a brewing time of 0:00.
- Set the desired tea variety (see 'Setting the tea variety' on page 18).
- Set the desired tea strength (see 'Setting the tea strength' on page 19).
- Press the ⏻ button to start the heating process.
The ⏻ button will light up in blue.
The display shows the current water temperature.

As soon as the tea strainer is at the bottom of the water tank, the set brewing time will count down in the display.
As soon as the brewing time has elapsed, the tea strainer will automatically rise up to the upper edge of the water tank.
3 beeps will sound.
After approx. 20 seconds, the display will disappear and the appliance will switch to stand-by mode.

The tea strainer will be very hot after the tea has been brewed. Wait until the tea strainer has cooled down before you touch it.
Setting the tea variety
A brewing temperature is preset for the following 5 tea varieties:
- Green
- Black
- White
- Herbal
- Oolong
Using the ‘brewing temperature’ setting, you can select a brewing temperature of between 70^ C and 100^ C with the △ and ▽ buttons (21).
- Press the ‘Tea’ button (22) until the desired tea variety is displayed.
The display shows the brewing temperature.
Setting the tea strength
The desired tea strength will determine the brewing time of the tea.
The following tea strengths are pre-set:
- Strong
- Medium
- Mild
Using the ‘brewing time’ setting, you can select a brewing time of between 0 seconds and 10 minutes with the △ and ▽(18) buttons.
- Press the ‘Selection’ button (17) until the desired tea strength is set.
The display shows the brewing time for the selected tea strength.

If the brewing time is 0, the tea fi Iter will remain at the top.
Heating water

WARNING
Risk of scalding!
If the water tank is over-fi lled or if the lid is open, hot water can spurt out during boiling.
This can lead to scalding.
■ Do not fill the water tank past the MAX mark.
■ Ensure that the lid is closed during operation.
Risk of burns!
The appliance will become very hot during operation.
Touching the hot appliance can lead to burns.
■ Only touch the appliance by the handle.

NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the ap- pliance may result in damage.
■ Never use the kettle without water.
■ Fill the water tank at least to the MIN mark and no further than the MAX mark.

After switching it off, it takes 15–20 seconds until the kettle is once again ready for use.
- Connect the mains plug to a properly installed and easily accessible socket.
- Fill the water tank (11) with fresh, cold tap water. Pay close attention to the fill level indicator (7).
Fill to a minimum of 0.5 litres and a maximum of 1.7 litres. - Place the water tank on the base with contact pin. The display will show a brewing temperature of 100^ C and a brewing time of 0:00.
- Press the ‘Tea’ button (22) until the brewing temperature setting is displayed.
- Press the and buttons (21) to set the desired brewing temperature.
The brewing temperature can be set between 70^ C and 100^ C. - Press the ⏻ button to start the heating process.
The @button will light up in blue.
The display shows a water temperature of 25^ C initially,
and then always the current water temperature.
After the set brewing time has been reached, 3 beeps will sound, and after approx.
20 seconds, the notification in the display will disappear and the appliance will switch to standby mode.
- To stop the heating process, press the ⏻ button.
The notification in the display will disappear after 25 seconds and the appliance will switch to standby mode.
Autostart function
This function will allow you to switch the appliance automatically to the desired start time.
- Prepare the appliance accordingly:
- Fill to a minimum of 0.5 litres and a maximum of 1.7 litres to heat water p (see steps 1 to 5 in Chapter ‘Heating water’ on page 19).
- Fill to a minimum of 0.5 litres and a maximum of 1.0 litres and add tea leaves to the tea strainer to make tea (see steps 1 to 11 in Chapter ‘Making tea’ on page 16).
- Press and hold the 'AUTOSTART' button (24) for 3 seconds.
The 'AUTOSTART' button will light up in blue, and the @button will flash.
The display will show the current time ‘CURRENT TIME’ and the start time ‘START TIME’.

When setting the current time and start time, pay attention to the time information AM / PM in the display. The display is necessary because times are displayed in 12-hour format. Morning hours 0:00 to 11:59 are marked by AM. The afternoon hours 13:00 to 23:59 are shown in the form of 1:00 to 11:59 PM.

Press the and buttons (21) to set the current time.
-
Press the △ and ▽ buttons (18) to set the start time.
-
If the current time and the starting time have been set, press the @button to set the 'AUTOSTART' function.
The @button will be continuously lit up in blue.
As soon as the start time has been reached, the heating or brewing process will start.
3 beeps will sound as soon as the brewing process has ended. The notification in the display will disappear after approx. 20 seconds, and the appliance will switch to standby mode.
Keep warm function
This function will allow you to keep the heated water or the tea you have made at a temperature of at least 60^ C for up to 30 minutes.
- Press the ‘Keep warm’ button (23) during heating or after the water has been heated or the tea has been made.
The ‘Keep warm’ button will be continuously lit up in blue.
Once the brewing or heating process is completed, the appliance switches to the keep warm function for 30 minutes.
The display shows the current water temperature, and the time will count down.
After 30 minutes, the appliance will automatically switch to standby mode.
Overheat protection
The appliance has its own in- tegrated temperature regulator which protects the heating ele- ment from overheating in case you accidentally switch on the appliance without water or if the heating element has calcified.
If the temperature regulator of the appliance has switched off, you should allow the appliance to cool off for 15–20 minutes and decalcify it too before filling it with cold water and switching it on.
Pouring out water

-
Hold the water tank (11) by the handle (5) and remove it from the base (8).
-
With the lid closed (1), pour the heated water through the spout (12) and into your chosen container.
- If you want to heat more water, allow the appliance to cool off for 30 seconds. If you do not want to heat more water, pull the mains plug out of the socket.
i Empty the appliance after every use. Otherwise, the appliance will calcify more quickly, and the water or tea will spoil if not used for an extended period.
Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning the kettle

NOTICE

Improper cleaning can cause short-circuiting and damage the appliance.
■ Never immerse the appliance in water to clean it.
■ Do not put the appliance or individual parts of the appliance in a dishwasher.
■ Do not use a steam cleaner to clean it.
Improper use of cleaning products or cleaning utensils can scratch the surfaces or cause chemical damage.
■ Do not use any solvent-based, abrasive or scouring cleaners (e.g. oven or grill spray) or cleaning utensils such as scouring pads or similar.
■ Do not use abrasive cleansers (scouring agents or thinning agents) to clean the appliance.

Pull the mains plug out of the socket.
-
Allow the appliance and the tea strainer to cool off completely.
-
Wipe the appliance surface off with a lightly moistened cloth. Use a small amount of washing-up liquid for stubborn soiling. Ensure that the electrical contacts on the underside of the water tank and on the base do not become wet.
-
Wash the inside of the water tank with washing-up water and then rinse it out thoroughly with water.
- Thoroughly dry all parts after cleaning.
Cleaning the tea strainer and limescale filter
- Open the lid (1) of the water tank (11).

- Remove the limescale filter holder (2) from the water tank.

-
Remove the limescale filter (13) from the limescale filter holder.
-
Remove the tea strainer and remove the tea strainer lid.
- Clean the tea strainer, tea strainer lid, limescale filter holder and limescale filter with washing-up water.
- Then rinse all parts thoroughly under running warm water and then dry all of the parts thoroughly.

- Replace the limescale filter in the limescale filter holder.
- Replace the limescale filter holder with the limescale filter on the water tank.
Decalcification

WARNING
Health hazard!
Improper use of the appliance can lead to damage to health.
■ Heat and pour away at least one full batch of water after descaling.

NOTICE
■ Never immerse the appliance in water to clean it.
■ Do not put the appliance or individual parts of the appliance in a dishwasher.
■ Do not use a steam cleaner to clean it. This can cause short-circuiting and could damage the appliance.
■ Do not use any solvent-based, abrasive or scouring cleaners (e.g. oven or grill spray) or cleaning utensils such as scouring pads or similar. These could scratch the surfaces.
■ Do not use any abrasive cleaners (scouring or thinning agents) to clean the appliance and accessories. They could damage the surface of the appliance.
Depending on the degree of hardness of water, limescale deposits may form inside the water tank (11). You must decalcify the appliance if the inner walls or the hotplates on the base of the water tank show visible limescale deposits.
- Mix 12 a litre of water with 2 tablespoons of concentrated vinegar.
- Pour this mixture into the water tank.
- Allow the mixture to come to the boil.
- Allow the mixture to work for approx. 15 minutes.
- Bring the mixture back to the boil.
- Dispose of the mixture. Do not pour it into an enamel-covered sink.
- Rinse the water tank out thoroughly with cold water.
- Thoroughly dry all parts after cleaning.
- Heat one or two full batches of water, as described in section ‘Filling with water’ on page 15, and then pour the water away.
Storing
If you are not going to use the appliance for an extended period, store it with care.
Make sure that the appliance is disconnected from the mains supply and is completely dry.
Store the appliance in a cool, dry place.

Troubleshooting table
Malfunctions can occur in all electrical appliances. This does not necessarily mean there is a defect in the appliance. For this reason, check the tables to see if you can correct the malfunction.

Disposing of old electrical devices in an environmentally-friendly manner

Electrical appliances contain harmful sub- stances as well as valu- able resources.
Every consumer is therefore required by law to dispose of old electrical appliances at an authorised collection or return point. They will thus be made available for environmentally-sound, resource-saving recycling.
You can dispose of old electrical appliances free of charge at your local recycling centre.

Packaging tips

Our packaging is made from environmentally friendly, recyclable materials:
– Outer packaging made of cardboard
- Moulded parts made of foamed, CFC-free polystyrene (PS)
– Films and bags made of poly-ethylene (PE)
– Tension bands made of polypropylene (PP).
If you have sufficient space, we recommend keeping the packaging, at least during the warranty period. If the appliance has to be sent in for repair or brought to one of the repair service points, the appliance will only be adequately protected in the original packaging.
If you would like to dispose of the packaging, please dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way.
