The tea set is exclusively designed to heat and keep warm quantities of water which are customary for domestic use.
The appliance is intended solely for domestic use.
Use the appliance exclusively as described in this user manual. Any other use is deemed improper and may result in damage to property or even personal injury. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use.

Safety notices
In this chapter you will find general safety notices which you must always observe for your own protection and that of third parties. Please also observe the warning notices in the individual chapters on operation, cleaning, etc.

WARNING
Risks in handling household electrical appliances
Risk of electric shock! The appliance operates with 220–240 V\~, 50/60 Hz mains voltage. Touching live parts may result in severe injury or death.
■ Only connect the appliance if the mains voltage at the socket corresponds to what is indicated on the name-plate.
■ The appliance corresponds to protection class I and may only be connected to a plug with a protective conductor that has been installed properly.
■ Do not operate or continue to operate the appliance
■ if it has visible damage, e.g. the mains cable is defective.
■ if it starts smoking or there is a smell of burning.
■ it makes unfamiliar noises. In this case, you should pull the mains plug out of the socket and have the appliance repaired (see ‘Service’ on page EN-24).
■ If the mains cable of the appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, the customer service department or a similarly qualified person in order to prevent hazards.
■ Changes and repairs to the appliance may be carried out only by authorised specialists, such as our service team (see page EN-24). Unauthorised repairs to the appliance can cause property damage and personal injury, and invalidate liability and warranty claims. Never try to repair a defective or suspected defective appliance yourself.

■ Only use the kettle with the original base.
■ Always pull the mains plug out of the socket prior to cleaning and maintenance.
■ Ensure that children do not place any objects into the appliance.
- Keep the appliance, the mains plug and the mains cable away from open flames and hot surfaces.
■ Ensure that the mains cable does not come into contact with hot parts.
■ Do not kink or clamp the mains cable. This can result in a break in the cable.
■ Never pull the mains plug out of the socket by the mains cable, always hold the mains plug itself.
■ Never use the mains cable as a carrying handle.
■ Never touch the mains plug with wet hands.
■ Never submerge the device and base in water.
■ Make sure that water is never spilled over the contact pin on the base.
■ Only use the appliance indoors. Do not use in wet rooms or in the rain.
■ Never store the appliance in such a way that it can fall into a bathtub or sink.
■ Never touch an electrical appliance if it has fallen into water. In such a case, immediately unplug the mains plug from the socket.
■ Do not immerse the appliance itself, the mains cable, mains plug or base (base station) in water or other liquids.
■ Thoroughly dry all parts aftercleaning.
Risks associated with handling household appliances which heat up
Fire hazard!
The appliance will become very hot during operation.
Flammable objects placed close to the appliance may ignite easily.
■ Do not set up the appliance near fl ammable objects such as curtains.
■ Never place the appliance on or near hot surfaces such as hobs, ovens, etc.
■ Do not cover the appliance, e.g. with cloths or similar
■ Do not connect to a multiple socket outlet, power strip, timer or to a separate remote-controlled system for distance monitoring and control.
■ The vents at the base of the appliance must remain unobstructed and must not be covered.
Risks caused by hot liquids and steam
Risk of scalding!
While using the appliance, hot steam will be emitted which can lead to scalding.
■ Avoid any contact with the hot steam during the heating process, when refi lling the kettle and when the lid is open.
Particularly ensure that you keep your face away from it.
■ Do not open the cover during operation.
■ When the appliance is hot, allow it to cool for at least 15-20 seconds before filling with cold water.
If the kettle is over-fi lled or if the lid is open, hot water can spurt out during boiling.
This can lead to scalding.
■ Do not fill the kettle past the MAX fill indicator level.
■ Ensure that the lid is closed during operation.
If the appliance falls over, contact with hot water can lead to scalding.
■ Do not allow the mains cord to hang over the edge of the worktop on which the appliance is standing.
■ Do not position the appliance on the edge of the worktop.
Drinking water that is boiling hot can cause scalding.
■ Let the water cool down first. Take care when drinking freshly heated water.
The hotplate is hot and may cause burns.
■ Do not touch the hotplate.
Health hazard
Health hazard!
Improper use of the appli- ance can lead to damage to health.
■ For hygiene reasons, pour away the first three batches of boiled water from your new kettle.
■ During first use, after de-calcification and after having not used the appliance for a prolonged period of time, fi ll the water tank completely, heat it up and throw the water away.
Risk of injury!
Improper use of the teapot may lead to injuries.
■ The teapot is made of glass. Handle with care and do not allow it to fall in order to avoid glass breakage and cuts.
Risks to children
Risk of suffocation!
Children can become entangled in the packaging fi lm and suffocate.
■ Do not allow children to play with the packaging fi Im.

CAUTION
Risks for certain groups of people
Danger to children and people with impaired physical, sensory or mental abilities! Children often fail to recognise hazards or underestimate them.
■ This appliance can be used by children aged eight years and up if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and understand the risks associated with its use. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children unless they are at least eight years old and supervised. Keep the appliance and its connection cables away from children aged eight years and under.
■ This appliance may be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or those lacking experience and/or knowledge only if they are supervised or have been in-
structed in how to use the appliance safely and have understood the dangers as-sociated with operating it.
■ Children must not be allowed to play with the appliance.
■ Do not leave the appliance unsupervised while in operation.
■ Do not allow the mains cord to hang over the edge of the worktop on which the appliance is standing.
Risks associated with using kettles
Risk of burns!
The device will become very hot during operation and also remains hot for some time after switching it off.
Touching the hot appliance can lead to burns.
■ Only hold the kettle and teapot by the handle.
■ Allow the appliance to cool completely prior to cleaning it.
NOTICE
Risk of damage! Improper handling of the ap- pliance may result in damage.
■ Never expose the appliance to high temperatures (heating etc.) or weather (rain etc.).
■ Do not expose the appliance to temperatures below 0 °C for prolonged periods. Residual water that may have frozen could damage the appliance. If the appliance is used at temperatures of less than +5 °C and over +40 °C it may lead to faults in the electronics.
■ Only use the appliance if it is on a flat, stable and non-sensitive surface.
■ Never operate the kettle or teapot when empty.
■ Never leave an empty tea-pot standing on the hot-plate when hot.
■ Do not place any receptacles other than the teapot on the hotplate.
■ The teapot is made of glass. Handle with care in such a way that the glass does not break.
■ Only fi ll it with fresh, cold water; do not fi ll the water tank with other liquids.
■ Do not use sharp objects to unpack the appliance.
■ Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquids to clean it.
■ Do not put the appliance or individual parts of the appliance in a dishwasher.
■ Do not use a steam cleaner to clean it. This can cause short-circuiting and could damage the appliance.
■ Do not use any solvent-based, abrasive or scouring cleaners or cleaning utensils (e.g. oven spray or grill spray) or cleaning utensils such as scouring pads or similar. These could scratch the surfaces.
■ Do not use any abrasive cleaners (scouring or thinning agents) to clean the appliance and accessories. They could damage the surface of the appliance.
Risk of damage to nearby furniture!
■ Please keep in mind that furniture surface coatings sometimes contain chemical additives that may corrode the rubber feet of the appliance.
This may cause residue to accumulate on the surface of the furniture. You must therefore place a heat- and water-resistant layer be-neath the appliance.
■ Do not set up the appliance under kitchen cupboards. They could be damaged by the steam that is emitted.
Start-up
Unpacking the appliance

NOTICE
Risk of damage! Improper handling of the ap- pliance may result in damage.
■ Do not use sharp objects to unpack the appliance.
- Unpack the tea set.
- Carefully remove all parts of the packaging, plastic profiles, adhesive tape and foam padding.
Choose a suitable location
- Position the tea set on a solid, level, non-sensitive surface.
- Do not position the tea set under an overhead cupboard.
- Position the tea set in such a way that there is enough space above it to open the lid of the kettle and the teapot.
- Do not place the tea set directly on or next to a stove or any other heat source.
- Set up the tea set in such a way that it is out of the reach of children.
Setting up the appliance

WARNING
Health hazard!
Improper use of the appli- ance can lead to damage to health.
■ For hygiene reasons, pour away the first three batches of boiled water from your new kettle.
■ During first use, after de-calcification and after having not used the appliance for a prolonged period of time, fi ll the water tank completely, heat it up and throw the water away.
■ Wash the tea set and the fi Iter insert thoroughly with warm water prior to fi rst use, and if required use a little mild washing up liquid.
- Clean the tea set as described in section ‘Cleaning’ on page EN-21.
- Fill the kettle with fresh tap water to the MAX (6) fill level mark and heat it as described in section ‘Heating water’ on page EN-16.
- Pour this batch away after heating.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 two to three times.
- Wash the tea set and the filter insert thoroughly with warm water prior to first use, and if required use a little mild washing up liquid.
Operation
Requirements for safe use
- You have read the chapter entitled 'Safety' from page EN-5.
- You have set up the appliance as described in chapter 'Start-up' from page EN-13.
Filling with water

- Fill the kettle with fresh, cold tap water.
Pay attention to the fill level indicator when filling the kettle (6). Fill to a minimum of 0.5 litres and a maximum of 1.7 litres (1.7 litres on first use). - Push the lid closed until you hear it click into place.
Kettle button functions


Button for starting the heating process / canceling the heating process and the keep warm function.

Button for switching the keep warm function on and off.

Button for reducing the water temperature in 5°C increments.

Button for increasing the water temperature in 5°C increments.
Heating water

WARNING
Risk of scalding!
If the water tank is over-fi lled or if the lid is open, hot water can spurt out during boiling.
This can lead to scalding.
■ Do not fi ll the kettle past the MAX fi ll indicator level.
■ Ensure that the lid is closed during operation.
Risk of burns!
The appliance will become very hot during operation.
Touching the hot appliance can lead to burns.
■ Only touch the device by the handle.

NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the appliance may result in damage.
■ Never use the kettle without water.
■ Fill the kettle at least to the MIN mark and no further than the MAX mark.
- Insert the mains plug into a properly installed and easily accessible earthed socket.
- Place the kettle onto the base with the contact pin (7).
The kettle switches to standby mode and the display shows the actual water temperature. - To start the heating process, press the ⬇button.
At this time, the desired water temperature can be set by repeatedly pressing the ◀or ▶ button. The water temperature can be set from 40°C to 100°C.
The display shows the selected water temperature and the ⏻ button flashes while setting.
The ⏻ button will stop flashing after approx. 5 seconds and will light up permanently. The water begins to heat up.
Once the set temperature has been reached, the kettle automatically switches to standby mode and the ⏻ button lights off.
The heating process does not start until the actual water temperature is below the set water temperature. When the set water temperature is exceeded, the kettle automatically switches to standby mode.
- To stop the heating process, press the ⏻ button. The kettle switches to standby mode.
The kettle will enter standby mode after being switched off, and the display will show the actual water temperature until the mains plug is pulled from the socket.
The kettle's keep warm function
There are two ways of starting the keep warm function, which keeps the water at the set temperature. The keep warm temperature can be set from 40^ C to 95^ C.
Start the keep warm function during the heating process
- Press the 📋 button during the heating process.
At this time, the desired keep warm temperature can be set by repeatedly pressing the ◀ or ▶ button.
The display shows the selected keep warm temperature and the 🎨 button flashes while setting.
The 📄 button will stop flashing after approx. 5 seconds and the ⏻ and 🔊 buttons will light up permanently.
When the heating process is completed, the kettle switches to the keep warm function for 40 minutes. During this time the kettle heats up at regular intervals to the set keep warm temperature.
If after 40 minutes no adjustments have been made, the kettle switches automatically to standby mode.
- To switch off the keep warm function, press the ⏻ or ⏱ button.
The lights of the ⏻ and ⏱ buttons go out.
Starting the keep warm function when in standby mode
- Press the button when in standby mode.
- Set the desired keep warm temperature as described in the previous section.
If the actual water temperature is below the set value, the kettle will heat the water until the set value is reached. When the heating process is completed, the kettle switches to the keep warm function for 40 minutes. - To switch off the keep warm function, press the ⏻ or 📋 button.
Pouring the water
- Use the handle (5) to lift the kettle off the base (7).
- With the lid closed, pour the heated water through the spout (2) and into your chosen container.
- If you want to heat more water, allow the appliance to cool off for 30 seconds.
- If you do not want to heat any more water, pull the mains plug out of the socket.

Empty the kettle after each use. Otherwise, the kettle will calcify more quickly and the water will become murky if not used for an extended period.
Using the teapot

WARNING
Risk of burns!
The teapot is made of glass which becomes very hot when it contains hot water. Touching the hot teapot may lead to burns.
■ Only hold the teapot by its handle.
■ Do not touch the glass surface if the teapot contains hot water.

The teapot (13) is designed for preparing tea and keeping it warm.
- First, boil water to the desired temperature using the kettle and as described in the chapter "heating water" on page EN-16.
- Place the desired quantity of tea in the filter insert (1).
- Open the teapot cover (14) and place the filter insert in the teapot.
- Pour the hot water into the tea-pot and allow the tea to infuse according to your preference.
Using the hotplate

WARNING
Risk of burns!
The hotplate becomes very hot during operation and also retains residual heat after use. Touching the hot-plate when hot can lead to burns.
■ Do not touch the hotplate during operation.
■ Only touch the hotplate after operation once the appliance has been switched off and the residual heat has disappeared.

The hotplate (12) is intended to keep tea warm in the teapot (13).
- Brew tea as described in the chapter ‘Using the teapot’ on page EN-19.
- Place the filled teapot on the hotplate.
-
To switch on the hotplate, press the On/Off button (10). The blue LED will light up in the pre-heating phase. After approximately 20 seconds, the blue LED will go out. The red LED will illuminate to indicate the keep warm mode.

Set the desired keep warm temperature by pressing the temperature buttons (8) or (9) in. The temperature is shown on the display (11) (70 °C to 90 °C). The hotplate will retain the temperature which has been set. After 40 minutes, the hot-plate will automatically switch to standby mode.

To switch off the hotplate, press the On/Off button again. The red LED will go out and the display will show two flashing bars.

NOTICE

Improper cleaning can cause short-circuiting and damage the device.
■ Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquids to clean it.
■ Do not put the appliance or individual parts of the appliance in a dishwasher.
■ Do not use a steam cleaner to clean it.
Improper use of cleaning products or cleaning utensils can scratch the surfaces or cause chemical damage.
■ Do not use any solvent-based, abrasive or scouring cleaners (e.g. oven or grill spray) or cleaning utensils such as scouring pads or similar.
■ Do not use abrasive cleansers (scouring agents or thinning agents) to clean the appliance.
- Pull the mains plug out of the socket.
- Allow the kettle and teapot to cool down completely.
- Wipe the appliance surface off with a lightly moistened cloth. Use a small amount of washing-up liquid for stubborn soiling.

Wipe the underside of the kettle with a dry cloth.
-
Ensure that the electrical contacts on the underside of the kettle, on the base (7) and on the control panel (4) do not become wet.
- Rinse the inside of the kettle and/or the teapot with clear tap water.
- Thoroughly dry all parts after cleaning.
Decalcification

WARNING
Health hazard! Improper use of the appli- ance can lead to damage to health.
■ Heat and pour away at least one full batch of water after descaling.
Depending on water hardness, limescale may form inside the kettle. You must decalcify the appliance if the inner walls or the hotplates on the base of the kettle show visible lime deposits.
- Mix 12 a litre of water with 2 tablespoons of citric acid.
-
Allow the mixture to come to the boil.
-
Dispose of the mixture. Do not pour it into an enamel-covered sink.
- Rinse the water tank out thoroughly with cold water.
- Thoroughly dry all parts after cleaning.
- Heat a complete jugful and then tip the water away.
Storing
- If you are not going to use the appliance for an extended period, store it with care.
- Make sure that the appliance is disconnected from the mains supply and is completely dry.
- Store the appliance in a cool, dry place.
- Make sure that the appliance is out of the reach of children.
Troubleshooting table
Malfunctions can occur in all electrical appliances. This does not necessarily mean there is a defect in the appliance. For this reason, please check the tables to see if you can correct the malfunction.
