Frequently Asked Questions - CD 4011 AMICA

How do I make coffee using whole beans?
Fill the water tank with cold water up to the desired level. Add coffee beans to the bean canister (max 100g). Select the number of cups (2, 4, or 6) by turning the control knob right. Adjust grind size (5 levels) and brew strength (Weak/Strong). Press Start/Stop. The grinder will activate, then brewing begins.
Can I use pre-ground coffee?
Yes. Turn the control knob left to the Grind off setting. Add pre-ground coffee directly into the filter. Then select cup size and press Start/Stop.
How do I clean the coffee maker?
After each use, wash the funnel, filter, filter cover, and carafe in warm soapy water. Wipe the exterior and warming plate with a damp cloth. Never immerse the base in water. For descaling, mix water and descaler (4:1) or citric acid, run a brew cycle without coffee, then rinse with clean water at least 3 times.
Why is my coffee weak or strong?
Adjust the brew strength setting on the control knob (left to select Weak or Strong). Also ensure you are using the correct amount of coffee beans or powder and the grind size is appropriate. For stronger coffee, use a finer grind and more beans.
What should I do if the coffee maker stops working during brewing?
Unplug the appliance and check for blockages. Ensure the water tank is not overfilled and that the funnel support is properly locked. If the problem persists, contact authorized service.
How often should I descale the coffee maker?
Descale every 2-3 months or when you notice mineral buildup. Hard water may require more frequent descaling. Follow the descaling instructions in the manual.
Can I brew less than 2 cups?
The minimum selection is 2 cups. For a single cup, pour half the water for 2 cups, but the machine will still grind for 2 cups. Alternatively, use the Grind off setting and adjust coffee powder manually.
Is the jug heat-resistant?
Yes, the glass carafe is designed to withstand heat. However, do not place it on a hot burner or in a microwave. Use the warming plate only.
What does the 'Grind off' feature do?
The Grind off setting disables the built-in grinder, allowing you to use pre-ground coffee. Simply add ground coffee to the filter and the machine will brew without grinding.
Where can I find replacement parts?
Contact Amica customer service or an authorized service center. Parts such as the jug, filter, and bean canister may be available. Refer to the warranty card for details.

  • Store unused coffee grounds in a cool, dry place. After opening a package of coffee grounds, reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
    ● For an optimum coffee taste, buy whole coffee beans and finely grind them just before brewing.
  • Do not reuse coffee grounds since this will greatly reduce the coffee' flavor. Reheating coffee is not recommended as coffee is at its peak flavor immediately after brewing.
  • Wash the grain tank feeder with a damp cloth when over-extraction causes oiliness. Small oil droplets on the surface of brewed, black coffee are due to the extraction of oil from the coffee grounds.
  • Oiliness may occur more frequently if heavily roasted coffees are used.
