Frequently Asked Questions - 59G335 Graphite

How do I change the sanding disc on the Graphite 59G335 sander?
Unplug the sander. Press the spindle lock button to hold the sanding pad. Rotate the old disc counterclockwise to remove it. Align the new disc with the pad and rotate clockwise until secure. Release the spindle lock.
What is the recommended speed for sanding wood?
For wood sanding, set the speed between 6,000 and 8,000 rpm for coarse grit, and 10,000-12,000 rpm for fine grit. Always start with a lower speed for better control.
Can I use the sander without the dust bag?
Yes, but it is not recommended as it will create airborne dust. Always attach the dust bag or connect a vacuum extractor to the port for safety and cleanliness.
How do I clean the dust bag?
Remove the dust bag from the sander. Empty it over a trash bin. For thorough cleaning, wash the bag with mild soap and water, then let it air dry completely before reuse. Do not machine wash.
Why does the sander vibrate excessively?
Excessive vibration may be due to a worn or unbalanced sanding pad, or improper sandpaper attachment. Check that the pad is securely fastened and the sandpaper is centered. Replace the pad if damaged.
What type of sandpaper should I use?
Use 125 mm (5 in) hook-and-loop sanding discs. Choose grit based on the task: coarse (40-80) for heavy material removal, medium (100-150) for smoothing, fine (180-240) for finishing.
Is the Graphite 59G335 suitable for drywall sanding?
Yes, it can be used for drywall sanding, but ensure you connect a vacuum system to minimize dust. Use fine grit sandpaper (120-150) and keep the sander moving to avoid grooves.
How do I replace the carbon brushes?
Unplug the sander. Locate the carbon brush caps on the sides of the motor housing. Use a screwdriver to remove the caps, slip out the old brushes, and insert new ones. Ensure the brushes are seated properly and replace the caps. Run the sander for a few minutes to seat the new brushes.
What safety precautions should I take when using the sander?
Always wear safety goggles, a dust mask, and hearing protection. Keep the work area well-ventilated. Do not force the sander; let it reach full speed before applying to the workpiece. Unplug when changing accessories or cleaning.
The sander does not turn on. What should I check?
First, check the power cord and plug for damage. Ensure the outlet is working. Examine the carbon brushes – if worn down, replace them. Also, check the on/off switch for debris. If the problem persists, consult a qualified technician.
