Frequently Asked Questions - ND-183-D Cotech

How do I use only the flame effect without heat?
Set the [I/O] switch to I to turn on the flame effect. Do not press any power setting buttons (I or II). To turn off, set switch to 0.
How do I adjust the thermostat?
Turn the thermostat knob clockwise to increase temperature, anticlockwise to decrease. When the room reaches desired temperature, slowly turn knob back until it clicks; the heater will then cycle automatically.
What should I do if the heater stops working?
Check if the power switch is on (I), the mains lead is plugged in, and the wall socket is live. If the heater overheated, the overheating protection may have tripped: set switch to 0, unplug, wait 15 minutes, then plug back in.
Can I use an extension cord?
No. The manual explicitly states: 'Never connect the product to the electricity mains using an extension lead.' Plug directly into an earthed 230 V outlet.
Is the stove safe to use around children?
The product can become very hot. Children under 3 must be kept out of reach. Children aged 3–8 may only switch it on/off with supervision. Never leave children unattended near the stove.
How do I clean the stove?
First, switch off and unplug the stove and let it cool. Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth (damp if needed, no detergents). Regularly vacuum the air inlet and outlet to prevent dust buildup.
What happens if the stove tips over?
The built-in tip-over switch automatically turns off the stove if it tilts or falls. Once returned to an upright position, the switch resets and the stove can be used normally.
Can I replace the LED bulbs?
No. The LEDs are non-replaceable. They are designed to last the lifetime of the product. Do not attempt to open the housing.
What are the dimensions and weight of the stove?
The dimensions are 44 × 32 × 74 cm (width × depth × height) and it weighs approximately 12.5 kg.
Can I use the stove in a bathroom or near water?
No. The manual warns: 'Never use the product in the immediate vicinity of bathtubs, showers or swimming pools.' It is for indoor dry use only.

Instructions for use

Note

Bear in mind that factors such as the size of the room, the outside temperature and how well the building is insulated, all affect the ability of the heater to warm the room up. If the room is too large the ability of the heater to warm it up to the desired temperature may be insufficient.

  1. Place the electric stove on a firm, level floor surface.
  2. Plug the product into a wall socket.

Flame effect without fan heater function

  1. Set the [I/O] switch (E) to I to switch the stove on, the flame effect comes on.
  2. Set the [I/0] switch to 0 to switch the stove off, the flame effect will go out.

Flame effect plus fan heater function

  1. Set the [I/O] switch to I to switch the stove on, the flame effect comes on.
  2. Turn the thermostat knob (H) clockwise to the maximum setting.
  3. Press in [I] (F) to select 1000 W or press in both [I] and [II] (G) to select 2000 W.
  4. When the desired ambient temperature has been reached, slowly turn the thermostat knob back until it clicks and the fan heater switches off. Leave the thermostat knob in that position.

  5. The stove will maintain the set temperature by automatically switching on and off.

  6. The temperature can be adjusted by turning the thermostat knob:

  7. clockwise to raise the temperature

  8. anticlockwise to lower the temperature.

  9. Set the [I/O] switch to 0 to switch the stove off, the flame effect will go out.

Overheating protection

The electric stove is fitted with an overheating safety cut-off protection device which switches the appliance off if it overheats. To reset the overheating protection device:

  1. Set the [I/O] switch to 0.
  2. Unplug the stove from the wall socket and let it cool for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Then plug the heater back into a wall socket. The heater should now work normally.

Tip-over switch

The electric stove is fitted with a tip-over switch which switches the stove off if it tilts or falls over. The tip-over switch resets when the stove is returned to the upright position.

Care and maintenance

  • Switch the stove off, unplug it from the wall socket and let it cool before cleaning.
  • Clean the exterior of the stove using a soft cloth. Dampen the cloth with a little water if required, do not use detergent, solvent or corrosive chemicals.

  • Store the stove indoors when it is not in use.
  • The lights inside the electric stove are LEDs and cannot be replaced.
