Frequently Asked Questions - PDMS A1 PARKSIDE

How do I change the sanding paper on the Parkside PDMS A1?
Unplug the sander. Align the new sanding paper with the holes on the pad and press it firmly onto the hook-and-loop surface. Ensure the paper is centered.
How do I connect a vacuum cleaner for dust extraction?
Remove the dust bag from the rear outlet. Attach the vacuum hose adapter (if included) or directly connect a standard 35 mm hose. Secure with the clamp if provided.
What is the orbital diameter and why does it matter?
The PDMS A1 has a 5 mm orbit. A larger orbit removes material faster but leaves a coarser finish; 5 mm is a good balance for general sanding.
How do I adjust the speed on this sander?
The variable speed dial is located on the top of the sander. Turn it to select a speed between 6000 and 12000 rpm. Use lower speeds for delicate surfaces, higher for aggressive material removal.
What maintenance does the Parkside PDMS A1 require?
Regularly empty or replace the dust bag. Check carbon brushes every 50 operating hours; replace if shorter than 5 mm. Keep vents clean.
Can I use this sander for wet sanding?
No, the PDMS A1 is designed for dry sanding only. Water can damage the motor and electrical components.
What sanding sheets are compatible?
Use 125 mm hook-and-loop sanding sheets with dust extraction holes. Standard grits from 60 to 400 are recommended.
How to replace the carbon brushes?
Unplug the sander. Remove the brush caps on the sides with a screwdriver. Slide out worn brushes, insert new ones, and replace caps. Run the sander for a few minutes to seat brushes.
What safety precautions should I take?
Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask. Keep hands away from moving parts. Unplug when changing accessories. Ensure the workpiece is secured.
Why is my sander vibrating excessively?
Check if the sanding paper is uneven or torn. Ensure the pad is not worn. Also verify that the sander is firmly held and the workpiece is stable. Excessive vibration may indicate internal damage.

Initial operation

NOTE

The grinder may only be operated on cleaned, oil-atomised compressed air and may not exceed the maximum operating pressure of 6.3 bar at the appliance. The compressor must be fitted with a pressure reducer to regulate the working pressure.

▶ Wind the Tefl on tap supplied around all threaded connectors.

Connect the appliance to a suitable compressed air source.

First screw the 1/4" threaded nipple onto the mini compressed air oiler 9/4" threaded connector 8

Then fi ll the mini compressed air oil with 1-2 drops of special compressed air oil. To do this, undo the crosshead screw at the mini compressed air oiler 9 oil fi ller opening 11 and allow a few drops of oil to enter the oil fi ller opening with the help of the oil bottle 14 included in delivery.

NOTE

A mist oiler continuously and optimally lubricates the grinder as a preparation stage after the pressure reducer. A mist oiler adds fi ne drops of oil to air fl owing through the appliance and therefore guarantees regular lubrication.

Now screw the 1/4" threaded nippl onto the mini compressed air oiler 9/4" female threaded connector 10

Now press the quick connector on the compressed air hose (not included in delivery) onto the Compressed air connector plug 12 The connection locks automatically.

Now connect the other end of the compressed air hose to the (fi lter) pressure reducer on the compressor.

Tool-changing

Always disconnect the grinder from the compressed air supply before changing tools.

Only ever use tools which are ready for use. Furthermore, you must ensure that the minimum clamping length of the shaft in the chuck is not fallen below.

Using the spanners included in the accessories, hold the spindle and chuck 1 rmly and open or close the chuck 1 in the direction of the arrows (see Fig. 3).
