Safety cautions

To avoid damage or danger by improper use, the instruction for use should be followed and carefully kept. If you give the appliance to another person, also supply them with the instruction for use.

Intended use: This appliance is suited for toasting bread and reheating buns. Only use the appliance for domestic purpose - the appliance is not suited for commercial use. The safety cautions must be followed closely and the appliance has to be used in the way indicated in this instruction for use. Do not use this appliance outdoors. In case of damage and accidents caused by not following this instruction for use the manufacturer assumes no liability.

- Do not operate any appliance if:

- power cord is damaged

- In case of malfunction or if it has been dropped or damaged in any manner.

- Special tools are required to repair the appliance. In any case ask a (*) competent qualified electrician

• to check and repair it.

- Should the cord be damaged, it must be replaced by a competent qualified electrician (*) to avoid any danger caused by electric current.

(*) Competent qualified electrician: after sales department of the producer or importer or any person who is qualified, approved and competent to perform this kind of repairs in order to avoid all danger.

- Additional protection may be obtained by fitting an earth-leakage circuit-breaker (IF=30mA) into your home installation. Please consult a qualified electrician.

- Caution! An electric appliance is no toy! This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use.

- Explain to your children all risks which can be caused by electric current:

- Danger caused by hot parts of the appliance

- Danger by moving and / or sharp-edged parts

- Danger caused by electric current

- Keep the appliance at any time out of reach of children or persons who can not handle electric appliances properly.

- Do not leave packaging components (plastic bags, cardboard, polystyrene, etc.) within the reach of children, as it could be dangerous - danger of suffocation!

- Caution Danger of electric shock! Appliance, cord and plug should never get into contact with water or any other liquids to avoid the risk of electric shock:

- never immerse the appliance, the cord or the plug in water or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever

• the cord should never get wet or get in contact with humid things.
• never use the appliance near a sink, or bathtub to avoid danger of falling into water
• never touch the appliance with wet hands or standing on a wet ground
• never place the appliance on wet ground

• never use the appliance outdoors

• Ensure that your mains voltage corresponds to that stated on the rating plate of the appliance. Connect this appliance to a plug which is wired according to the regulations (230 V \~AC).

• Run the cable in a way that nobody can stumble over it or pull on it.
  • Take care that the cable never comes into contact with sharp edges and hot objects.
• Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it. From time to time check if the cord is damaged. In this case or if the appliance is damaged it must not be used any more.
• Only use the original attachments which are supplied with the unit.

• Unplug the appliance

- when the appliance is not in use

- before changing accessories or cleaning the appliance To unplug only pull the plug, never pull on the cord to avoid damage.

• Caution! Danger of electrical hazard! Never put hands or objects as knife or fork into the toaster while it is plugged!
• Caution! Danger of burning! The appliance gets very hot during operation. Do not touch the hot appliance or hot metal parts. Only touch the cool touch handle and the knobs.
• Make sure the appliance never comes into contact with inflammable materials, such as curtains, cloth, etc. when it is in use, as a fire might occur. It is advisable to place a heat resistant coating between your table and the appliance (this way you don't get burns on your table or table cloth).
• Never move the toaster while it is hot. Let the unit cool down before cleaning and storing.
• Caution! Fire danger! Always keep enough distance to the walls, furniture curtain or towels. Never use under curtains or other inflammable material. The appliance must not be placed next to easily inflammable objects. Ensure that the cord does not touch hot parts of the appliance like grill plate or housing.
• Never use or place the appliance near a hotplate or a hot oven.
• Caution! After each use for safety reason unplug.

First use

• Remove all packaging material such as carton, foil etc. Check also the inside of the toaster slots for packaging material and remove.
• Place the appliance on a dry, flat and heat resistant surface and keep appliance at least 10 cm away from any walls and curtain. Plug power cord into a nearby outlet.
• Before using for the first time heat up to burn up the residues from the manufacturing process. Little smell might occur, this is harmless and will stop after a while.

How to use the toaster

Caution! Danger of burning! The appliance gets very hot during operation. During operation of electrical caloric appliances, high temperatures – by hot parts or hot body - are generated, which may cause injuries. Only touch the cool touch handles! Never touch hot housing!

Caution heat development and danger of burning! Bread can burn! Always keep enough distance to heat or steam sensitive surface, walls, furniture. Never use under curtains or other inflammable material.

Ensure that the cord does not touch hot parts of the appliance.

Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use.

Caution! Danger of electrical hazard! Never put hands or objects as knife or fork into the toaster while it is plugged!

Caution danger of burning! Avoid jamming of bread slices. Jamming bread slices cause blocking of the automatic switch off (lift function). This can cause bread to scorch. Always take care not to put too big bread slices into the slot.

Caution danger of burning! Do not use slices of bread which are smaller than app. 9 x 9 cm.

When removing small slices of bread, there is danger of burning fingers.

Caution! Never try to loose jamming bread slices by using a fork or similar metallic objects. First unplug and let the appliance cool down enough before removing jamming slices of bread.

• Put one slice of bread into each slot. You may also use one slot for one slice only. Do not use thick slices of bread to avoid jamming.
• The variable browning control controls the toasting time. Begin at first with medium controlling and regulate it higher if required. Toasting time depends on the consistency, thickness and kind of bread you are using.
• Switch on the appliance by pushing the push down button.
• Toast will pop up automatically when the selected browning level has been reached - the heating stops and the toast will be lifted up.

Bun warmer

• Buns and baguette slices are too thick for the toast slots. Always use the bun warmer for buns and baguette slices. To avoid danger of overheating, never cover the slots completely.
• Press the button to release the bun warmer unit. Place the bun or baguette on top of the bun warmer. For buns and baguettes a longer toasting time is necessary.
• During roasting process turn the buns or baguettes, so that they get brown on each side. Take care not to touch the hot bun warmer.

Stop button

- You may stop the toasting process at any time by pressing the STOP button.

Caution danger of burning! For safety reason always unplug the appliance and let cool down after having finished the toasting process and before returning the bun warmer back to the original position.

Caution! Never use a fork or sharp-edged, metallic objects to get uptight pieces of bread free. This might damage the heating element and cause danger of electric shock!

Crumb tray

• To remove crumbs, pull out the crumb-tray of the appliance. We recommend to do it after each use.
• Ensure to insert the crumb tray before using the toaster again.
• Caution! After each use for safety reason unplug.

Cleaning and storing

Caution danger of electric shock! Never immerse the appliance, cord and plug into water. Always disconnect the appliance from power supply before cleaning to avoid risk of electrical shock.

Caution danger of burning! Always let the appliance cool down enough before cleaning and storing.

• To remove crumbs slide out the crumb tray and discard crumbs. Wipe clean and replace. Never operate the appliance without crumb tray in place. The crumb tray should be cleaned regularly.
• Do not allow breadcrumbs to accumulate in the bottom of the toaster. Empty the crumb tray after each use.
• To remove any pieces of bread remaining in the appliance, turn it upside down and shake gently. Never insert any hard or sharp instrument into the slot as this could damage the appliance and cause safety hazard. Never use metallic and sharp edged cleaning material or sharp cleaning solvents while cleaning.
• Clean the housing gently with a soft slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
• Never store the appliance near a heating element, the housing could melt. Store it in a dry place not reachable for children.

Disposal

Notice for environmental: If at any time in the future you should need to dispose of this product please note that waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. The symbol (on the right) on the packing is indicating it. Please recycle where facilities exist. Check with your local authority or retailer for recycling advice. (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive)

Warranty claims

For this appliance, we confirm a guarantee of 24 months. The guarantee starts from the date of purchase (cash receipt). In case of malfunction you can send the appliance with information about the malfunction and the original purchase receipt, which is obligatory for a repair free of charge to your dealer.

Within the guarantee period we repair defects of the appliance, which are based on material or manufacturing faults by our choice by means of repair or exchange. These obligations don't extend the period of guarantee. No claim on a new period of guarantee results from it.

An exact description of the complaint reduces the processing.

We apologise for any inconvenience that all claims of good-will are excluded:

• after expiry of the lifetime due to the construction and especially for batteries, accumulators, electric lamps etc.
• for consumption accessories and wear parts, as e.g. driving belts, motor coals, tooth brushes, grinding attachments, dough hooks, beaters, mixer attachments, round cutters etc.
• in the case of breakage, as e.g. glass, porcelain or plastic
• in the case of damages in transport, misuse, as well as
• in the case of lack of care, cleaning and maintenance and in the case of non observance of operation or mounting instructions
• in the case of chemical and/or electrochemical effects
• in the case of operation with wrong type of current respectively voltage and in the case of connection to unsuitable power sources
• in the case of abnormal environmental conditions and in the case of strange operation conditions
• as well as then, if repairs or illegal abortions are made by persons, who are not authorised by us or
• if our appliances are equipped with spare parts, supplementary parts or accessories, which are no original parts or
• if contact with unsuitable agents have caused the damage
