Note: In order to power and charge your connected laptop, its USB Type- C^TM port must support USB Power Delivery 2.0 or Thunderbolt 3^TM .
The USB Type- C^TM multi DockingStation is designed for extra connectivity demands. With this DockingStation you can extend a USB Type- C^TM host interface and DisplayPort ^TM Alt Mode supported computer to more displays and USB peripherals, Ethernet network, memory cards, speaker and microphone through one USB Type- C^TM cable. Adopting Power Delivery 2.0 charging technology, upstream charging function through the Type- C^TM interface, you can charge the connected notebook by using your existing Type- C^TM power supply at once.
Features
• Premium aluminium enclosure
• USB Type-C ^TM with Power Delivery (specification 2.0)
- Charge your notebook with up to 60 W via the USB Type-C™ interface
- Three additional video interfaces:
1x High Speed HDMI® Type-A (up to 3840x2160@30 Hz)
1x Mini DP++ interface (up to 3840x2160@30 Hz)
1x VGA interface up to 1920x1200@60 Hz
- Three USB 3.0 Type-A interfaces, data transfer rate up to 5 Gbit/s
• SD 3.0 (UHS-I) and microSD 3.0 (UHS-I) card reader for data transfer up to 100 MB/s
• Gigabit LAN RJ45 interface with wake-on-LAN function
• 3.5 mm stereo combo jack (headset)
Requirements
- Host notebook with an available USB Type- C^TM port (to ensure full dock functionality, the host USB Type- C^TM port must support USB Power Delivery 2.0 and DisplayPort ^TM Alt Mode or Thunderbolt ^TM 3).
Note: The docking station can still connect to a host laptop with a USB Type- C^TM port that doesn't support Power Delivery (must still support DisplayPort™ Alt Mode). In this configuration, the docking station will not provide power to your host laptop.
- DisplayPort™, HDMI® or VGA enabled display(s) with cables as needed (for additional external displays)
• A 4K-capable display is required to achieve 3840x2160@30 Hz resolution - Any of the following operating systems: Windows® 10, macOS® (no MST support for macOS® computer)
Manual IB-DK2102-C
USB Type-C™
Not all USB Type-CTM ports support the full functionality of the USB Type-CTM standard. Some ports might only provide data transfers, and might not support video or Power Delivery over USB. To use this dock to its full potential, ensure that the host USB Type-CTM port from your computer supports DisplayPortTM Alt Mode, as well as USB Power Delivery or Thunderbolt 3TM.
Note! The USB Type-CTM port on the DockingStation supports only Power Delivery 2.0.
Install and use the docking station
The dock will automatically install some of the required drivers once it is connected to your laptop's USB Type-C™ port. If you receive a prompt to automatically install the driver(s), follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Connect your devices to the appropriate ports on the dock. Connect your external display(s) to the dock's video port(s).
Note: Video output capabilities are dependent on the video card and hardware specifications of your connected host laptop. Certain video cards have limited MST support, while some monitors will also limit the available resolution.
Configure a display device
Please setup your display settings accordingly to your operating system and requirements. For detailed information, see the corresponding operation manual and description of your operating system. Your laptop hardware must support dual external displays (e.g.: MST). You can set up dual displays by using the video output ports (1x Mini DisplayPort™ and 1x HDMI® or 1x Mini DisplayPort™ and VGA).
Supported video resolutions
The docking station supports 4K HD resolution if the connected HDMI® or DisplayPort™ display supports it.
Number of displays Video output configuration Maximum resolution/monitor
2 mini DisplayPort™ and HDMI® 1920x1080@60Hz
2 mini DisplayPort™ and VGA 1920x1080p@60 Hz
- Mini DisplayPort™ and HDMI® can work simultaneously; Mini DisplayPort™ and VGA can work simultaneously, but HDMI® and VGA cannot work at the same time.
- When connecting Mini DisplayPort™ and HDMI® on macOS® based system, the computer can read only one EDID (Extended Display Interface Data). It is recommended using two monitors, which have the same highest resolution. If the resolutions are different for these two monitors, please adjust manually. On Windows® OS the computer can read two different EDID's at the same time.
- When connecting Mini DisplayPort™ and VGA on macOS®, the computer can read only one EDID. Please connect the Mini DisplayPort™ port before the VGA port; otherwise, there might be no sound from the device. Please adjust the resolution for both monitors manually. This issue will not happen on Windows® OS.
- When using macOS® on the dual monitor mode, the computer can read only one EDID. If you are using two monitors which do not using the same resolution, there won't be an image. Please properly reset the resolution and adjust it manually.
- When connecting the USB Type-C plug of the IB-DK2102-C to a Chromebook, the mouse to be connected to the USB 3.0 Type-A port will not work immediately; it will have seconds' delay. This problem also occurs in other similar Type-CTM adapter (including Apple original 3 in 1 adapter) when connected to Chromebook.
- When connecting the IB-DK2102-C to Chromebook, the VGA video signal may not appear on the screen of the VGA monitor under certain resolutions.
- Attention! When plugging in and out a PD 2.0 adapter to the Type- C^TM interface of the IB-DK2102-C, the connected USB devices will get disconnected flashily and then reconnect in a few seconds, so to prevent possible data loss or corruption, avoid (dis-)connecting the PD 2.0 adapter from AC power while transferring data.
