Frequently Asked Questions - P318S DELL

How do I adjust the projection image focus?
Rotate the focus ring on the lens until the image is clear. The projector focuses at distances from 1.3 m to 7.1 m (4.27 ft to 23.29 ft).
What should I do if no image appears on the screen?
Ensure the correct input source is selected in the OSD menu. Check that all cables are securely connected and the external graphics port is enabled. For Dell laptops, press Fn+F8. Verify the lamp is installed correctly and try using the test pattern in the OSD.
How do I replace the lamp?
Turn off the projector and disconnect power. Allow the projector to cool for at least 30 minutes. Loosen the lamp cover screw, then the lamp screw, and pull the lamp out by its metal handle. Insert a new Philips 195 W lamp, tighten screws, replace cover, and reset lamp hours in the OSD menu.
Why is the TEMP light solid amber?
The projector has overheated. The display will shut down automatically. Ensure air vents are not blocked and ambient temperature is below 40°C. Turn on again after cooling.
How to connect a laptop to the projector?
Connect the VGA cable from your laptop to the VGA input (blue D-sub) on the projector. Alternatively, use an HDMI cable. Select the corresponding input source using the Source button on the remote control or panel.
Can I use the projector with a 16:9 video source?
Yes. The projector automatically detects the input signal format. If the image is stretched, adjust the aspect ratio in the Display Settings of the OSD menu. Options include Original and 4:3.
How to reset the lamp usage time?
After replacing the lamp, go to the Advanced Settings menu, then Power Settings, and select Lamp Reset. Choose 'Yes' to reset the timer. The projector may also detect the new lamp automatically.
What is the maximum projection distance?
The maximum projection distance is 10 m (32.81 ft) for a screen size of up to 252.4 inches diagonal.
How to clean the lens?
Do not use alcohol. Use a soft, dry cloth or a lens cleaning tissue. Gently wipe the lens in a circular motion.
What to do if the remote control stops working?
Check the batteries; replace with two new AAA batteries if low. Ensure the remote is within the operating range (up to 7 m). Remove any obstacles between the remote and the projector.

DELL P318S - Replacing Remote Control Batteries - 8

NOTE: The lamp life rating for any projector is a measure of brightness degradation only, and is not a specification for the time it takes a lamp to fail and cease light output. Lamp life is defined as the time it takes for more than 50 percent of a lamp sample population to have brightness decrease by approximately 50 percent of the rated lumens for the specified lamp. The lamp life rating is not guaranteed in any way. The actual operating life span of a projector lamp will vary according to operating conditions and usage patterns. Usage of a projector in stressful conditions which may include dusty environments, under high temperatures, many hours per day, and abrupt powering-off will most likely result in a lamp's shortened operating life span or possible lamp failure.
