1 Safety information
Battery
Do not use any other rechargeable batteries, as these could possibly lead to a short circuit. When changing the battery, always use a new 9V alkaline block-type battery. Do not throw batteries into the fire or immerse in water. Do not dispose of old or faulty batteries with the normal household waste.
Connection information
The answering machine needs to be used with a TAE socket with F/N coding together with telephones, which have F-coding.
Location
Do not position the answering machine in the immediate vicinity of other electronic equipment such as microwave or hi-fi units as this can lead to mutual interference. The location has a deciding influence on the trouble-free operation of the answering machine. Stand the answering machine on a flat, non-slip surface. The feet do not normally leave any marks on the surface. However, on account of the multitude of varnishes and surface finishes used, surface marks caused by the feet of the unit cannot be ruled out. Do not use the answering machine in areas where there is the risk of an explosion. Excessive exposure to smoke, dust, vibrations, chemicals, moisture, heat or the direct rays of the sun must be avoided.
Disposal
If the useful life of the batteries or the complete equipment has expired, please dispose of these carefully in accordance with the statutory requirements and in a manner friendly to the environment.
Temperature and ambient conditions
The answering machine is designed for use in protected rooms with a temperature range of -10 °C to 50 °C. The answering machine must not be installed in damp rooms such as a bathroom or laundry room. Avoid proximity to sources of heat such as radiators and do not expose the unit to direct sunlight.
Cleaning and care
The surface of the case can be cleaned with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth. Never use cleaning agents, particularly aggressive solvents. Apart from occasional cleaning of the case, no other care is necessary. The rubber feet of the unit are not resistant to all cleaning agents. The manufacturer can therefore not be held responsible for possible damage to furniture or the like.

3.3 Fitting the battery (not included)
Before connecting your new answering machine to the telephone network, the battery should be fitted. Please always use a new 9V alkaline block-type battery. The battery is required for preventing loss of data if there should be a mains power failure. Before installing or changing the battery, make sure that the answering machine is not connected to the telephone network.

4 Operation
4.1 Recording, changing or deleting the greeting message
For your greeting message, you can either make use of the standard greeting recorded by a professional radio speaker or you can record your own message with a length of up to 60 seconds. If you do not record a message of your own, the standard greeting will be used automatically.
Example of a greeting message: "Hallo, this is 05432/1234. I am sorry but we are not available to take your call at the moment. However, you can leave a message if you wish. Please speak after the tone.
Wording of the standard greeting: "Hallo, I am sorry but we are unable to answer your call personally at the moment. Please leave your message and telephone number after the tone.
Before recording your greeting, you should write down the text that you want to record. The length of your own greeting must be at least 3 seconds and must not exceed 60 seconds. The longer your greeting lasts, the less recording time will be available for incoming messages. The maximum recording time is ca. 15 minutes. If your greeting lasts for 18 seconds, for example, then 14 minutes and 42 seconds remain for incoming messages.
Recording your own greeting
Press and hold the REC button until you hear a signal tone.
Start your greeting directly after the signal tone. The display will show rA during the recording. While recording, keep at a distance of ca. 15 cm from the answering machine so that you can speak easily into the microphone on the upper side.
Release the REC button after you have finished your greeting message.
The greeting will now be repeated automatically. The display will now show the message PA. The volume can be adjusted by repeatedly pressing the two arrow keys ▲ and ▼
You can play back your greeting at any time by briefly pressing the REO button.
- Operation -
4.2 Deleting your own greeting and reverting to the pre-recorded greeting
If you have recorded your own greeting, you can delete this and by doing so revert to the pre-recorded greeting.
Press and hold the REC button for 2 seconds until you hear a signal tone. Your own greeting will be deleted and you will hear the text of the pre-recorded greeting in confirmation.
4.3 Setting up the answering machine
On the rear of the answering machine you will find a slide switch with which you can set how many times the phone rings before incoming calls are answered.
2 The call will be answered after 2 rings.
6 The call will be answered after 6 rings.
TS In the "TS" position, the first call will be answered after 6 rings and all further calls will be answered after 2 rings. Furthermore, with the switch in this position, you can make use of the toll-free remote access facility. Details will be found in Chapter 5.2.
4.4 General operation
The answering machine can be switched off (standby) or on using the Button. If the answering machine is switched off, the display shows the message -- for standby and no messages will be recorded.
The maximum length for incoming messages is 60 seconds. If the caller speaks for longer, a signal tone sounds and the call will be cut off. If there is a pause of more than 7 seconds during recording, the call is automatically terminated with a signal tone. No more calls will be answered if the memory capacity for new messages is exhausted and the message Su will appear in the display.
Listening to incoming messages
The integral loudspeaker makes it possible to listen in to incoming calls without speaking to the caller. If you do not want to listen in to the incoming calls, set the volume right down by repeatedly pressing the ▼ arrow button.
Interrupting the answering machine
You can personally intervene at any time while the caller is dictating his message. Simply lift the receiver. The answering machine will stop and you can speak directly to the caller.

5.1 Remote access authorisation code
Your answering machine has personal access authorisation (Remote Code) so that only you can listen to incoming messages using the remote access facility. The authorisation code is a three-digit number and can be found on the underside of your unit (Remote Code).
5.2 Toll-free remote pre-access
Using the toll-free remote pre-access facility, you can find out whether there are any messages on your answering machine without incurring any charges.
Set the slide control to the "TS" position. If you now call your machine when you are away, the answering machine answers as follows:
A. If your call is answered after 2 rings, there are messages on your answering machine and you can continue as described under 5.3.
B. If no messages have been recorded, your call will not be answered after 2 rings. Put the receiver down directly after the third ring as your answering machine will switch on as normal after the sixth ring. In this way, you can save call charges.
5.3 Remote access facilities
Call your own telephone number and allow the greeting message to run through to the end. Wait until your answering machine is ready to record a message.
After the signal tone, enter your personal authorisation code by pressing the appropriate numbers on a telephone.
Two signal tones confirm that the right code has been entered. Now select one of the functions listed below by pressing the appropriate combination of keys. The pause between entering the individual functions must not exceed 12 seconds as, otherwise, the connection will be cut off automatically.

To re-record the greeting message, press the key combination 7 and #. Dictate your new greeting after the signal tone.
Complete the recording with the keys 7 and #. The new greeting will now be repeated automatically.
Finish the call by putting the receiver down.
- Remote access -
5.5 Switching on remotely
Imagine that you have left your office or your house and have forgotten to switch on your answering machine. Using the remote access facility, you can switch on the answering machine from another telephone.
Call your number and let it ring until your call is answered by your answering machine (ca. 10 times).
After the signal tone, enter your personal authorisation code. A signal tone confirms that the right code has been entered.
Press the keys 9 and # and your answering machine will be switched on.
Now put the receiver down or make use of further remote access functions.
5.6 Remote access with insufficient memory capacity
You can control your answering machine at any time using the remote access facility. If, however, there is no memory left for new messages, the answering machine will no longer accept calls. In this case, please proceed as follows:
Call your number.
Let it ring 10 times and your answering machine will respond with three short signal tones.
Now enter your authorisation code. You will hear two signal tones in confirmation and you now have the possibility of recreating more memory space by deleting messages. To do this, first listen to the messages and then delete individual messages or all messages. See also Item 5.3.
