Frequently Asked Questions - HCO701 BLAUPUNKT

How do I turn on the heater?
Connect the heater to a power source and switch on the main power switch (D). Then press the power button on the control panel. The heater will start in Eco mode with a target temperature of 23°C.
How do I set the timer?
To set a delayed switch-on, ensure the heater is in standby mode. Press the timer button, use + or - to select the delay (0-5 hours in 0.5-hour steps, 5-24 hours in 1-hour steps). After the set time, the heater turns on. For delayed switch-off, do the same while the heater is operating.
What are the operating modes?
The heater has four modes: Eco (adjusts power based on temperature difference), High (constant high power), Medium (constant medium power), and Low (constant low power). Press the mode button to cycle through.
How do I clean the heater?
Always unplug and let the heater cool down. Wipe the exterior with a damp, lint-free cloth. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from air slots. Do not use strong detergents or solvents.
What does the Eco mode do?
In Eco mode, the heater automatically adjusts its power based on the difference between the set temperature and the ambient temperature. The smaller the difference, the lower the power. If the difference is 1°C, it uses low power; if 3°C, it uses maximum power.
Is it safe to leave the heater unattended?
The heater has overheating protection that shuts it off automatically if it overheats. However, do not leave it unattended for long periods, especially with the timer function. Always follow safety instructions and keep flammable objects at least 50 cm away.
Can I use the heater in a bathroom?
No. The manual states: Do not use in areas with increased humidity, bathrooms, showers etc. The heater is not designed for damp environments.
How do I change the temperature?
Press the temperature-setting button, then use + or - to adjust the desired temperature (range 10-30°C, plus anti-freeze at 5°C). The display shows the set temperature, not the actual room temperature.
What does the overheating protection do?
If the heater intensely overheats, the overheating protection automatically switches it off. Disconnect from mains, wait 30 minutes to cool, check for obstructions, then restart. If it doesn't turn on, contact customer service.
How do I use the remote control?
The remote control has buttons that correspond to the control panel: power, mode, temperature, timer, +, -. Point it at the heater and press the desired button. The remote works the same as the panel.

USING THE APPLIANCE

Connect the radiator to the power source. Switch the appliance on with the main power switch (D). After that, two buttons on the control panel light up: the timer and the power switch. The appliance will then be in the standby mode.

Press the power switch to turn on the radiator.

The radiator switches on in the Eco mode, and the target temperature is set at 23°C.

Temperature changing: Press the temperature-setting button, then press the + or - buttons to change to the required temperature. After setting to the required temperature, the radiator will switch to the Eco mode. The temperature can be set within the range 10-30°C and in the anti-freeze mode at 5°C.

Note: the temperature value on the display shows the set required temperature. This is not an ambient-temperature measurement.

Changing the operating mode: To change the heating mode, press the operating-mode-selection button:

The eco mode -> High power -> Medium power -> Low power. In the eco mode, the radiator adjusts the power to the ambient temperature. When one of the constant-power modes is used, the appliance will only operate at the selected power level. When the selected target temperature (default 23°C) is reached, it will switch off. When the temperature drops, the appliance will start heating again.

The eco mode: To activate the eco mode, press the operating-mode button until the eco mode is selected.

In this mode, the radiator adjusts the heating power to the ambient temperature. The smaller the difference between the required temperature and the ambient temperature the lower the power used to heat the room. If there is only one degree of difference, the radiator will operate in the low-power mode. When the difference is 3 degrees, the radiator will use the maximum power.

The radiator's delayed-switch-on function: The radiator should be in the standby mode. Press the timer button. The hour symbol (H) and the time (0) will appear on the display. Use the + or - buttons to select the expected switch-on-delay time of the radiator. In the range 0 to 5 hours, the increase is 0.5 hours, while above 5 hours to 24 hours the increase is 1 hour. After the selected time has elapsed, the appliance will start heating.

After setting the timer, you can set the radiator operating parameters by using the temperature-setting button or the operating-mode-selection button.

CAUTION: It is worth remembering that when using the radiator's delayed-switch-on function, the appliance can switch on when left unattended. Always observe all the safety instructions for the product's use.

The radiator's delayed-switch-off function: When the radiator is operating in one of the operating modes, press the timer button. The hour symbol (H) and the time (0) will appear on the display. Use the + or - buttons to select the expected switch-off-delay time of the radiator. In the range 0 to 5 hours, the increase is 0.5 hours, while above 5 hours to 24 hours the increase is 1 hour. After the selected time has

elapsed, the appliance enters the standby mode.

Deactivating the audible signals when pressing the buttons: To deactivate the audible signals each time you press the control buttons, press and hold the + and - buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. To deactivate this function, press and hold the + and - buttons at the same time again for 3 seconds. Remote control: The buttons on the remote control correspond to the control panel's buttons, and perform the same functions.

OVERHEATING PROTECTION

The radiator is protected with overheating protection which automatically switches off the appliance if it intensely overheats. In that event, disconnect the appliance from the mains, wait approx. 30 minutes for the radiator to cool down, and rectify any possible cause of the overheating, e.g., something covering the radiator. Check the appliance, cable, and plug for damage. If no damage is observed, reconnect the appliance and switch it on, according to the manual. If the radiator does not switch on, contact the customer service for assistance.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

During use, clean the appliance regularly according to the following instructions.

  1. Disconnect the appliance from the power source, and let it cool down before cleaning.
  2. Gently clean the appliance's external surface and control panel with a damp and lint-free cloth.
  3. If there is dust in the appliance's slots, it is recommended to blow it out with a vacuum cleaner or blower.
  4. Do not use strong detergents, chemical cleaners, or solvents.
