The mower should be thoroughly cleaned after each use. In particular, the underside and the spindle. Keep protective devices, air vents and motor housings as free of dust and dirt as possible.
NOTE
Before tipping the product, empty the fuel tank completely using a petrol suction pump (not included in the scope of delivery).
The product must not be tilted more than 90 degrees.
- It is best to tilt the mower backwards. Make absolutely sure that the spark plug (6) is pointing upwards. If the spark plug (6) is pointing downwards, oil can leak out and cause major damage to the engine and carburettor.
- Alternatively, you can tilt the appliance on its side, but you must ensure that the air filter (8) is on the upper side.
- Clean the underside of the product with a spatula and hand brush. The spatula helps to remove coarse and larger plant residues from the cutting line area. Cleaning the underbody is easier and more thorough immediately after use. Then dirt and plant residues are still fresh and can be loosened more easily. Grass residues and dirt that have dried on can impair mowing.
- Rub the product clean with a clean cloth or blow it off with compressed air at low pressure.
- Clean the product at regular intervals using a damp cloth. Do not use any cleaning products or solvents; they could attack the plastic parts of the product. Make sure that no water can penetrate the interior of the product.

ATTENTION
Product damage!
If the product is operated without or with too little engine and gear oil, this can lead to engine damage.
- Fill with fuel and oil before commissioning. The product is supplied without engine and gearbox oil.
- Only use engine oil SAE 30, 10W-30 or 10W-40.
ATTENTION
Environmental damage!
Spilled oil can pollute the environment permanently. The liquid is highly toxic and can quickly lead to water pollution.
- Fill/empty oil only on level, paved surfaces.
- Use a filling nozzle or funnel.
- Collect drained oil in a suitable container.
- Wipe up spilled oil carefully immediately and dispose of the cloth according to local regulations.
-
Dispose of oil as per local regulations.
-
Turn the oil dipstick (17) anticlockwise to unscrew it and wipe it with a clean, lint-free cloth.
- Reinsert the oil dipstick (17) and check the oil level without screwing the oil dipstick (17) tight again.
- Pull the oil dipstick (17) out and read the oil level in the horizontal position. The oil level must be positioned between the max. and min. of the oil dipstick (17).
- Then screw the oil dipstick (17) in again.
15.4 Oil change
The engine oil should be changed annually before the start of the season.
must be carried out with the engine at operating temperature and switched off.
Only use engine oil (SAE30, 10W-30 or 10W-40).
- Unscrew the oil dipstick (17) by turning it anticlockwise.
- Suck out the engine oil through the filler neck using an oil pump (with hose).
- Fill up with fresh engine oil and check the oil level (see 15.3).
15.5 Drain fuel with a fuel suction pump (Fig. 21)

To do this, place a collecting container under the carburettor (22) and open the drain plug (23) using a 10 mm open-end spanner (Fig. 21).
15.6 Maintenance of the air filter (8) (Fig. 15)
DANGER
Risk of fire and explosion!
If not cleaned correctly, fuel may ignite and even explode. This can lead to severe burns or death.
- Clean the air filter only by knocking it out.
- Never clean the air filter with petrol or flammable solvents.
ATTENTION
Risk of damage!
Operating the engine without a filter element or with a damaged filter element can cause engine damage.
- Never run the engine without or with a damaged air filter element. This would allow dirt into the engine, which would result in severe damage to the engine.
Contaminated air filters (8) diminish the engine output due to reduced air supply to the carburettor. Regular inspection is therefore essential.
The air filter (8) should be checked every 25 operating hours and cleaned as required. The air filter (8) must be checked more often if the air is very dusty.
- Remove the air filter cover and remove the air filter (8).
- Clean the air filter (8) only by tapping it.
- Replace a faulty air filter (8) with a new one.
- Reinsert the air filter (8) and replace the air filter cover.
15.7 Spark plug maintenance (fig. 17)
Check the spark plug (6) for the first time after 10 operating hours for soiling and clean these with a copper wire brush if necessary. Then maintain the spark plug (6) every 50 operating hours.
- Remove the spark plug connector with a twist.
- Remove the spark plug (6) with a spark plug wrench.
- Use a feeler gauge to set the gap to 0.75 mm(0.030"). Refit the spark plug (6) and take care not to overtighten it.
15.8 Engine brake lever (2) (Fig. 1)
The engine is equipped with a mechanical brake which has to be checked regularly. When the motor brake lever (2) is released, the cutting line (11) must come to a standstill within 7 seconds.
A running cutting thread (11) produces clearly audible wind noises. The running of the cutting thread (11) is signalled by the wind noise generated and can thus be checked.
The cable pulls must be oiled more often and checked for ease of movement (Fig. 12).
NOTE
If you notice that the motor brake is not working correctly, please contact customer service or a specialist workshop.
Ensure that the product is in perfect condition throughout its service life. Improper maintenance may lead to life-threatening injuries.
