Before using the appliance, please read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by persons familiar with these instructions.
Connection to the mains supply
The appliance must only be connected to a properly installed power socket with an earth connection.
The mains voltage must correspond to the voltage specified on the type plate of the appliance.
This product complies with all binding CE labelling directives.

Important safety instructions
- In order to avoid hazards, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If
repairs are needed, please contact our customer service by phone or e-mail (see separate warranty statement).
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
• To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water. - Electric heating appliances become very hot during operation and can cause burns if touched. Only handle the appliance by the grip area.

Keep the hot straightener away from your scalp.
• Make sure you place the appliance on a heat-resistant, stable and level surface when using it. -
Risk of burns! The appliance must be kept out of reach of children under 8 years of age, especially during or after use.
- This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
• Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance.
• Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance
unless they are supervised.
WARNING! This symbol warns against using the appliance near bathtubs, shower trays, or other water-containing vessels.
- In the vicinity of any water source, there is a risk even when the appliance is switched off. Therefore, always remove the plug from the wall socket after use, especially if the appliance is being used in a bathroom.
• Additional protection is available by fitting an earth-leakage circuit-breaker with a rated tripping current not exceeding 30mA into your bathroom installation. Please consult a qualified electrician. - Never leave the appliance unattended when plugged
in or in use.
- Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – these are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
- Protect the appliance from moisture and splashing water and do not operate it with wet hands.
- Electric heating appliances operate at very high temperatures. Do not touch any part of the appliance except the grip. Otherwise there is a real risk of burning.
- Do not use the appliance on synthetic hairpieces or wigs, as the heat can damage the fibres.
- Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
- To avoid damaging the power cord, do not:
- do not bend or kink the cable, especially where it leaves the housing, - do not pull on the cord, - do not coil the power cord around the appliance.
- Always switch off and remove the plug from the wall socket after use, and also in the event of any malfunction.
- When unplugging the appliance, always pull the plug and not the cord.
- No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
- The appliance is not intended for commercial use.
Before the first use
Wipe the appliance and the heating plates with a slightly damp cloth.
The IONIC function
- The IONIC function enables gentle, effortless styling and helps reduce frizz and flyaway hair.
- The IONIC function activates automatically.
Lock function
- The appliance features a lock for space-saving storage or transport.
- Before use, release the lock on the back of the appliance (→).
- To re-engage the lock, close the appliance and slide the lock towards the position.
- Never engage the lock while the appliance is powered on.
Operation
Make sure the appliance is used on dry hair only.
Tip! For optimal protection when styling your hair, we recommend using a heat protection spray suitable for your hair type.
- Insert the plug into a wall socket.
- Unlock the appliance (→).
- Switch on the appliance by pressing the button.
- The display will initially flash 170.
- Adjust the desired temperature (130-230 °C) by pressing the button. Start with a maximum temperature of 180 °C, increasing it only if necessary.
- The selected temperature will flash while the appliance heats up.
- Once the desired temperature is reached, the temperature indicator will remain steadily lit.
- Place the heating plates at the roots of a strand of hair.
- Press the arms of the straightener together and glide slowly from roots to tips.
- Open the appliance.
- Check whether the desired result has been achieved.
- For a stronger effect, repeat the process, possibly at a higher temperature.
• Work through all hair strands systematically.
• After use, switch off the appliance by pressing and holding the button, then lock the appliance.
- Disconnect the power plug from the socket.
Automatic shutdown
If no button is pressed on the appliance for more than one hour, it will automatically power off.
General cleaning and care
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
- Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
- If necessary, wipe the appliance with a lightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Disposal

Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter.
