IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE
▲WARNING
Read all safety instructions before using the product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in fire, electrical shock, serious injury or death.
WARNING
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Use this cooktop only for its intended purpose as described in this Owner's Manual.
■ Be sure your cooktop is properly installed and grounded by a qualified installer in accordance with the provided installation instructions. - Do not attempt to repair or replace any part of your cooktop unless it is specifically recommended in this manual. All other servicing should be performed by a qualified technician.
■ Before performing any service, unplug the cooktop or disconnect the power supply at the household distribution panel by removing the fuse or switching off the circuit breaker.
■ Do not leave children alone—children should not be left alone or unattended in an area where the cooktop is in use. They should never be allowed to climb, sit or stand on any part of the cooktop.
Do not store items of interest to the cooktop—children climbing on the items could be seriously injured.
CAUTION
■ Use only dry pot holders—moist or damp pot holders on hot surfaces may result in burns from steam. Do not let pot holders touch hot surface units or heating elements. Do not use a towel or other bulky cloth in place of pot holders.
■ Never use your cooktop for warming or heating the room.
- Do not touch surface elements. These surfaces may be hot enough to burn even though they are dark in color. During and after use, do not touch, or let clothing or other flammable materials contact the surface elements or areas nearby the surface elements; allow sufficient time for cooling first.
■ Potentially hot surfaces include the cooktop and areas facing the cooktop.
■ Do not heat unopened food containers. Pressure could build up and the container could burst, causing an injury.
- Cook meat and poultry thoroughly—meat to at least an internal temperature of 160°F and poultry to at least an internal temperature of 180°F. Cooking to these temperatures usually protects against foodborne illness.
WARNING
KEEP FLAMMABLE MATERIALS AWAY FROM THE COOKTOP
Failure to do so may result in fire or personal injury.
■ Do not store or use flammable materials near the cooktop, including paper, plastic, pot holders, linens, wall coverings, curtains, drapes and gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids.
■ Never wear loose-fitting or hanging garments while using the cooktop. These garments may ignite if they contact hot surfaces causing severe burns.

WARNING
COOKTOP SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
In the event of a fire, do not use water or grease on fires. Never pick up a flaming pan. Turn the controls off. Smother a flaming pan on a surface unit by covering the pan completely with a well-fitted lid, cookie sheet or flat tray. Use a multi-purpose dry chemical or a foam-type fire extinguisher.
■ Never leave the surface units unattended at medium or high heat settings. Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may catch on fire.
■ Never leave oil unattended while frying. If allowed to heat beyond its smoking point, oil may ignite resulting in fire that may spread to surrounding cabinets. Use a deep fat thermometer whenever possible to monitor oil temperature.
■ To avoid spillover and fire, use a minimum amount of oil when shallow pan-frying and avoid cooking frozen foods with excessive amounts of ice.
■ Use the proper pan size - select cookware having flat bottoms large enough to cover the surface heating element. The use of undersized cookware will expose a portion of the surface unit to direct contact and may result in ignition of clothing. Proper relationship of cookware to surface unit will also improve efficiency.
■ To minimize the possibility of burns, ignition of flammable materials and spillage, the handle of a container should be turned toward the center of the range without extending over nearby surface units.
WARNING
INDUCTION COOKTOP SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
■ Use care when touching the cooktop. The glass surface of the cooktop will retain heat after the controls have been turned off.
- Do not cook on a broken cooktop. If the glass cooktop should break, cleaning solutions and spillovers may penetrate the broken cooktop and create a risk of electric shock. Contact a qualified technician immediately.
- Avoid scratching the glass cooktop. The cooktop can be scratched with items such as knives, sharp instruments, rings or other jewelry, and rivets on clothing.
- Do not place or store items that can melt or catch fire on the glass cooktop, even when it is not being used. If the cooktop is inadvertently turned on, they may ignite. Heat from the cooktop or oven vent after it is turned off may cause them to ignite also.
- Do not place metallic objects such as knives, forks, spoons, and lids on the cooktop surface since they can get hot.
■ Use a ceramic cooktop cleaner and non-scratch cleaning pad to clean the cooktop. Wait until the cooktop cools and the indicator light goes out before cleaning. A wet sponge or cloth on a hot surface can cause steam burns. Some cleaners can produce noxious fumes if applied to a hot surface. Read and follow all instructions and warnings on the cleaning cream label. NOTE: Sugary spills are an exception. They should be scraped off while still hot using an oven mitt and a scraper. See the Cleaning the glass cooktop section for detailed instructions.
CAUTION
Persons with a pacemaker or device should exercise caution when near an induction cooktop while it is the electromagnetic field may affect the pacemaker or similar medical able to consult your doctor or manufacturer about your particular

Using the Cooktop Surface Units
CAUTION
■ The cooking surface units may appear to be cool while turned ON and after they have been turned OFF. The surface may be HOT from residual heat transferred from the cookware and burns may occur. Wait until the cooktop is cool and the hot indicator light has turned off before touching or cleaning glass.
■ DO NOT TOUCH HOT COOKWARE directly with hands. Always use mitts or pot holders to protect hands from burns.
■ DO NOT SLIDE cookware across the cooktop surface. Doing so may permanently damage the appearance of the cooktop.
The surface units beneath the cooking surface produce a magnetic field that generates heat in ferrous metal cookware that are in close proximity. Ferrous metals are magnetic, such as iron or steel.
The cooking surface itself does not heat. Heat is produced in the cookware, and cannot be generated until magnetic, ferrous cookware is placed on the cooking surface.
When the surface unit is turned on it will heat the cookware which heats the food.
Use cookware that fit the surface unit size. The cookware bottom must be large enough for the surface unit to detect the cookware and be able to deliver full power. Using smaller cookware on a larger surface unit will generate less power at any given setting.
Reference the graphics information in this section for cookware bottom minimum sizes (in inches) for each surface unit. If you have trouble with cookware, try a smaller surface unit. Sometimes the magnetic portion of the cookware is smaller than the diameter of the cookware bottom.
Cookware without a solid bottom surface or with poor magnetic capabilities may not be detected or may not be able to deliver full power from the surface unit. Reference the Cookware for Induction Cooktops section for more details on cookware type and usage recommendations.
Do not allow the bottom of the cookware to touch the surrounding metal cooktop trim. The hot cookware can heat the cooktop metal trim.
Before using the cooktop for the first time, clean it with ceramic cooktop cleaner. This helps protect the top and makes cleanup easier.

Induction Cooktop
Selecting Surface Unit Setting
Each surface unit on your cooktop has its own power levels ranging from low to high. Power level settings necessary for cooking will vary depending on the cookware being used, the type and quantity of food, and the desired outcome.
Use higher settings for searing, frying and boiling.
Power Boost will operate at a boosted power level for 10 minutes and then will reduce the powerlevel to 9. Power Boost may be repeated after the initial 10 minute cycle by pressing the Power Boost pad again.
In general use lower settings for melting, holding and simmering. It is recommended that the smallest surface unit be used to melt.
When keeping foods warm, confirm that the selected setting is sufficient to maintain food temperature above 140^ F.

Power Sharing
A 30" cooktop has 2 cooking zones and a 36" cooktop has 3 cooking zones. Each cooking zone has a maximum power available.
If a surface unit is on power level Power Boost (P) in any zone and another surface unit in the same zone is activated on power level Power Boost (P), the initial
surface would reduce to a lower power. This is how power is shared between two surface units in the same zone. This change power adjustment will be shown on the control display. Additionally, for 36" cooktops, if all surface units are operating, the longest running 1 or 2 surface units may be reduced to a lower power level.

Induction Cooktop
Cookware for Induction Cooktop
The following information will help you choose cookware for an induction cooktop.
Recommended
Use quality cookware for better heat distribution and even cooking results. Choose heavier cookware made of magnetic stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, or enameled steel.
INCORRECT

Cookware is not centered on cooking element surface.

Curved or warped pan bottoms or sides.

Pan does not meet the recommended minimum size required for the cooking element used.

Pan bottom rests on cooktop trim or does not rest completely on the cooktop surface.

Heavy handle tilts pan.

Pan is partially magnetic on the bottom.
CORRECT

Cookware is centered correctly on cooking element surface.

Flat pan bottom.

Pan size meets or exceeds the recommended minimum size for the cooking element used.

Pan bottom rests completely on the cooktop surface.

Pan is properly balanced.

Pan is completely magnetic on the bottom.
Not Recommended
Induction Compatible Aluminum Cookware:
This cookware is primarily made of a non-ferrous material (Aluminum) with a magnetic disc attached to the bottom. It can satisfy the magnet test recommended to show induction compatibility, but will not allow the surface unit to deliver full power and can have issues with cookware detection.
Induction Interface Disks:
Use of these items may not allow the surface unit to deliver full power and may cause issues with cookware detection. If these items overheat, they can cause damage to the cooking surface.
Silicone Pads:
Using silicone pads spaces the cookware away from the surface unit. This may not allow the surface unit to deliver full power and can cause issues with cookware detection. If these items overheat from contact with hot cookware, they can cause damage to the cooking surface.
Cookware without Solid, Flat, Magnetic, Bottom Surface:
This cookware can satisfy the magnet test recommended to show induction compatibility, but will not allow the surface unit to deliver full power and can have issues with cookware detection.
For Best Result
■ Match the cookware bottom to the surface unit. Reference the Using the Cooktop Surface Units section for cookware bottom minimum sizes. If you have trouble with cookware, try a smaller surface unit. Sometimes the magnetic portion of the cookware is smaller than the diameter of the cookware bottom.
■ The cookware must make FULL contact with the cooking surface.
■ Round, flat bottom cookware will give best result.
■ Place only dry cookware on the surface units. Water between the cookware and surface unit will result in pan detection issues and can affect power delivery.
■ Do not use woks that have support rings. You must use a flat-bottomed, induction compatible wok. Reference the Using the Cooktop Surface Units section for cookware bottom minimum sizes.
■ Covering cookware with a lid will make it heat faster.

Induction Cooktop
Cookware "Noise"
Hums or buzzes can be expected when using an induction cooktop. This is normal. The material, temperature, size and flatness of the cookware can contribute to the sound volume.
Heavier cookware made of magnetic stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, or enameled steel are recommended. Induction compatible aluminum cookware without a solid, flat bottom surface will produce louder sounds.
A hum sound may be heard if the cookware is cold. As the material heats, the sound will decrease. If the power level is reduced, the sound level will go down.
Cookware that is close to the surface unit minimum size requirements can produce a clicking and zipping sound. If you experience cookware noise, try a smaller surface unit. Reference the Using the Cooking Surface Units for minimum pan size requirements for each surface unit.
When using adjacent surface units that are set at certain power level settings, magnetic fields may interact and produce a pulsing hum or click. These noises can be reduced by changing the power level settings of one or both of the surface units. Or use a different surface unit combination to separate the cookware. A brief sound may also be produced whenever the power levels are changed.
Cooktop Lockout
Lock
Touch Lock Controls pad for 3 seconds. "L" will be shown on all control displays while locked. All surface units must be off to lock cooktop.
Unlock
Touch Lock Control pad again for 3 seconds.

Metal Marks and Scratches
- Be careful not to slide pots and pans across your cooktop. It will leave metal markings on the cooktop surface.
These marks are removable using the ceramic cooktop cleaner with a non-scratch cleaning pad for ceramic cooktops.
- If pots with a thin overlay of aluminum or copper are allowed to boil dry, the overlay may leave black discoloration on the cooktop.
This should be removed immediately before heating again or the discoloration may be permanent.
NOTE: Carefully check the bottom of pans for roughness that would scratch the cooktop.
- Be careful not to place aluminum baking sheets or aluminum frozen entrée containers on a hot cooktop surface. It will leave shiny dots or markings on the cooktop surface. These markings are permanent and cannot be cleaned off.
Damage from Sugary Spills and Melted Plastic
Special care should be taken when removing hot substances to avoid permanent damage of the glass surface. Sugary spillovers (such as jellies, fudge, candy, syrups) or melted plastics can cause pitting of the surface of your cooktop (not covered by the warranty) unless the spill is removed while still hot. Special care should be taken when removing hot substances. Be sure to use a new, sharp razor scraper. Do not use a dull or nicked blade.
-
Turn off all surface units. Remove hot pans.
-
Wearing an oven mitt to protect your skin, use a single-edge razor blade scraper to move the spill to a cool area on the cooktop and remove the spill with paper towels.
-
Any remaining spillover should be left until the surface of the cooktop has cooled.
-
Don't use the surface units again until all of the residue has been completely removed.
NOTE: If pitting or indentation in the glass surface has already occurred, the cooktop glass will have to be replaced. In this case, service will be necessary.
