USE

Before any use, read this notice carefully and then retain it.

This product is a dynamic rope intended for use in climbing. It is used as a link in a safety chain designed to hold a fall.

During a climb it is necessary to take into account the effects of a dynamic fall by using or placing protection points to prevent hitting the ground.

For abseils or top roping from the pitch base check that the rope leads at least twice the pitch length. For enhanced abseil safety knot the ropes.

The various components of the safety chain should conform to UIAA

Standards. (These include the harness, karabiners, tape, slings, anchor, belaying devices, and descenders)

In case of use with a mechanical device, ensure that the diameter of rope and its other characteristics are compatible with the device.

Note: When a rope is new, the braking effectiveness of belay devices may be significantly reduced.

Do not use a karabiner for tying-in if there is the risk of a fall.

When using products that come into contact with the rope, ensure they are intended for this purpose and comply with applicable technical standards. Special attention should be paid to the selection of belaying elements, which must take into account the rope diameter.

When combining this rope with other components, the safety aspects may interfere with each other. This equipment should only be used in connection with parts of personal protective equipment (PPE) bearing the CE symbol to secure individuals against falls from heights. When the rope is used with other PPE systems (e.g., belaying equipment (EN 341), fall arrest systems (EN 363), adjustment equipment (EN 358, EN 353-2), etc.), it must be ensured that these systems are compatible with the rope. Follow instructions for proper use, especially regarding equipment markings indicating rope type and diameter.

● How to use this single rope?

1) Uncoiling for the first time

Silhouette of a person holding a red cable with flowing cables against a gray background.

During the initial use, spread open the rope coil and insert both arms through the rope coils in opposite directions.

After uncoiling the rope, manually run it through your hands meter by meter, repeat the process two or three times, and gently shake it to remove any kinks.

2) Taking in rope

Illustration of a red rope tied with a white loop, showing rope routing.

The rope which is taken in should be laid on the cliff side of the anchor point in order to avoid trapping the rope's end between the ring and rock face.

3) Rope management

Silhouette of a person climbing ropes with red tassels against a dark background.

In environments such as waterfalls, alpine climbs, and windy conditions, it's crucial to ensure that the rope coils do not hang down below the stance.

4) Control

Silhouette of a person playing a flute with red ribbons at the base.

After each use, you should carefully examine your rope. To do this, run the rope through your hands meter by meter and feel for bulges, hard spots, and other irregularities, and look for obvious damage to the sheath. If there are significant physical irregularities, thin or open areas on the sheath, or any other signs of damage, the rope should be replaced.

The rope should not be exposed to liquids, solids, gases, mists, or substances such as acids, bases, and solvents that can deteriorate the rope.

PRECAUTIONS

Before first use, it is essential to unwind the rope to avoid twists and kinking.

The rope must be protected against sharp edges, stone fall, ice axes, crampons, or anything which could cut the internal or external fibers of the rope.

Rubbing together of two ropes through karabiners or maillons induces friction which could result in rupture.

Avoid over-rapid abseiling or lowering which could burn the rope and accelerate sheath wear. The melting temperature of polyamide is 230°C. This temperature may be attained during very rapid descents.

Check karabiners and descenders for burrs or snags that could damage the rope.

It's advisable not to interchange the roles of karabiners. Reserve some exclusively for running the rope through, and use different ones for climbing anchors.

The latter use may score the karabiner, leading to deterioration of any rope running through it.

When affected by water or ice, the rope becomes much more sensitive to abrasion and loses strength. Therefore, extra precautions should be taken in wet or icy conditions.

The temperature in which the rope is used must never exceed 80°C. Finally, always consider the possibility of rescue before and during use in case of difficulties.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

A rope must not be allowed contact with chemical agents, particularly acids, which may destroy the fibers without visible evidence.

Avoid unnecessary exposure to UV, store the rope in a cool, shaded place away from dampness and direct heat.

It is preferable to use a rope sack for transporting and for laying the rope out at the base of the cliff to protect against dirt and reduce twisting. If the rope is dirty, it may be washed in clear cold water, if necessary with a washing agent designed for delicate textiles, using a brush made with synthetic bristles. Disinfect only using materials that have no effect on synthetic materials used.

If the rope becomes wet, whether due to use or washing, it should dry in a cool, shaded area.

Before and after each use, inspect the rope visually and manually along its entire length.

This product must be inspected periodically and meticulously. If used frequently, it should be inspected every three months. For occasional use, an annual inspection is sufficient.

The rope is personal equipment. During any use away from you, it is subjected to grave damage, which may not be visible.

If the rope is cut into multiple lengths, ensure to repeat and affix the markings to each new end.

CLEANING

Frequently wash the product with lukewarm (max. 40°C) drinking-water where necessary. You can also add some gentle detergent (neutral soap). Rinse and leave to dry naturally away from direct sources of heat. Dry only using materials that have no effect on the synthetic materials used. The rope must not be allowed contact with chemical agents, particularly acids, which may destroy the fibers without visible evidence.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORT

Products should ideally be stored loosely without packaging in a dry and cool environment. Products must be protected from direct sunlight, chemical elements, heat, and mechanical damage. It is preferable to use a rope sack for transporting and for laying the rope out at the base of the climb to protect against dirt and reduce twisting.

RESPONSIBILITY

The company VEVOR INC., or the distributor, will not accept any responsibility for damage, injury, or death resulting from misuse of or modifications to any VEVOR branded product. It is the user's responsibility at all times to ensure that he/she understands the correct and safe use of any equipment supplied by or from VEVOR INC., that he/she uses it for the purposes for which it is designed, and that he/she practices proper safety procedures.

SERVICE LIFE AND DISCARDING

The maximum service life for ropes (unused and stored in optimum conditions) is 10 years. The service life of the product is dependent on the frequency and intensity of use. If all general instructions for the safe use of dynamic ropes are adhered to, the following tentative lifespan data may be recommended:

  • Intensive use: 3 months to 1 year.
  • Average use: 2 to 3 years.
  • Occasional use: 4 to 5 years.
  • Rare use: 10 years (maximum duration of use).

Ropes must be discarded immediately under the following circumstances

  1. If it has experienced a serious fall.
  2. If inspection reveals or even indicates damage to the core.
  3. If the sheath is very worn.
  4. In the event of extreme sheath slippage.
  5. If it has been in contact with any active or dangerous chemicals.
  6. If there is the slightest doubt about its security.
