How to properly attach the lens to the camera?

Align the lens mounting index with the camera mount index, then turn the lens clockwise until it clicks into place. Consult the camera manual for details. Never force the rotation.

What is the best way to clean the lenses?

First use a blower to remove dust and lint. For stains, use a soft, clean cloth slightly moistened with ethanol or lens cleaner, wiping from the center outward in circular motions. Avoid touching the glass with fingers. Never use organic solvents like thinner or benzene.

Can I use a lens hood from another Fujifilm lens?

Lens hoods are dedicated to the lenses they are supplied with. Using a non-fitting hood can cause vignetting (darkening of the image corners). Use only the hood supplied with the XF 35mm f/1.4 R.

What is the minimum focusing distance?

The minimum focusing distance is 28 cm from the sensor. This allows photographing relatively close subjects with a maximum magnification of 0.17x.

Is this lens compatible with mount adapters?

The XF 35mm f/1.4 R is designed for Fujifilm's X mount. Adapters exist for other mounts, but compatibility is not guaranteed and some features (like autofocus) may be limited. For best results, use it on a Fujifilm X body.

How to store the lens when not in use?

Put the front and rear caps back on. Store the lens in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid storing it with naphthalene or mothballs. For long-term storage, a humidity-free environment is recommended to prevent mold.

What to do if mold appears on the lens?

If you notice mold, do not attempt to clean it yourself inside the lens. Contact a FUJIFILM authorized service provider or dealer for professional cleaning. Improper storage can promote mold.

Can I use filters on this lens?

Yes, the filter diameter is 52 mm. You can screw on UV, polarizing, neutral density filters, etc., as long as they are this size.

Does the lens have image stabilization?

No, the Fujifilm XF 35mm f/1.4 R does not have optical image stabilization. Stabilization must be provided by the camera body or by stable shooting technique.

What are the available apertures?

The maximum aperture is f/1.4 and the minimum aperture is f/16. The 7-blade circular diaphragm provides pleasing bokeh. Increments are in 1/3 EV steps (22 positions).

Product Care

• When using a lens hood, do not pick up or hold the camera using only the hood.
• Keep the lens signal contacts clean.
• Use a blower to remove dust and lint from the lens surfaces. To remove smudges and fingerprints, apply a small amount of ethanol or lens cleaner to a soft, clean cotton cloth or lens-cleaning tissue and clean from the center outwards using a circular motion, taking care not to leave smears or touch the glass with your fingers.
• Never use organic solvents such as paint thinner or benzene to clean the lens.
• Attach the front and rear caps when the lens is not in use.
• If the lens will not be used for an extended period, store it in a cool, dry location to prevent mold and rust. Do not store in direct sunlight or with naphtha or camphor moth balls.
• Keep the lens dry. Rusting of the internal mechanism can cause irreparable damage.
• Leaving the lens in extremely hot locations could cause damage or warping.
