Frequently Asked Questions - BP 7.000 Garden Kärcher

How to install the BP 7.000 Garden pump?

Before commissioning, remove the plug, screw the connection adapter onto the suction inlet and connect a vacuum-resistant suction hose. Fill the pump with water until it overflows via the filling port. Plug in the power plug and start with the ON/OFF switch.

What to do if the pump does not start or stops suddenly?

Check the power supply: fuses and connections. Ensure the plug is properly connected. If the problem persists, contact authorized customer service.

Why does my pump run but not move water?

This may be due to air in the pump. Check the startup (water filling). Clean the suction area if particles are blocking. Ensure the suction hose and adapter are properly screwed in with seals.

How to bleed the pump?

Fill the pump completely with water before starting. To reduce suction time, lift the delivery hose about 1 meter until water flows steadily.

What is the maximum suction height?

The maximum suction height is 8 meters. Beyond that, the pump may not work properly.

Can I use the pump for drinking water?

No, it is forbidden to drink the water conveyed by the pump. The pump is designed for watering and non-potable water. Do not use it with water intended for consumption.

How to maintain the pump after use?

After pumping water containing additives, rinse the pump with clear water. Unplug the device before any maintenance. The pump requires no other maintenance.

What to do if the flow rate decreases?

Clean the suction area and the pre-filter. Check that the delivery head does not exceed 50 m. Ensure that the valves on the delivery side are fully open and the hose is not kinked.

How to store the pump in winter?

Empty the pump by opening the water port on the pressure side, remove the hoses, then empty the pump via the purge valve. Store the device in a frost-protected place.

Intended use

Please observe the requirements of EN 1717 when connecting this product to the drinking water network and contact your sanitation specialists if you have any questions.

This device has been developed for private use and is not intended for the load imposed by commercial use.

The device is primarily intended for use in the garden and provides constant pressure for garden watering. When connecting sprinklers, a maximum of the following areas can be irrigated:

• BP 4.500 Garden: 400 m² • BP 5.000 Garden: 550 m² • BP 6.000 Garden: 900 m² • BP 7.000 Garden: 1000 m²

Startup

We recommend using only original Kärcher suction hoses, filter components and hose connections. Using components from other manufacturers can lead to malfunctions when sucking the feed fluid, especially when using bayonet connection systems.

Before initial startup

Preparation

• Remove the sealing plug.
• Screw the connection adapter into the suction connection of the pump (inlet). Manually tighten.
• Connect a vacuum-tight suction hose Illustration B

Note

If the water is dirty, we recommend fitting a pre-filter (see Special accessories) between the check valve and the suction hose.

To shorten the re-suction time, use a suction hose with backflow stop. This prevents the suction hose from emptying after use (see Special accessories).

Operation

1. Plug the mains plug into a mains socket.
2. Switch the device on with the ON/OFF switch.
3. To shorten the suction time, raise the pressure hose approx. 1 m.
4. Wait until the pump simultaneously sucks and delivers.

Ending operation

1. Switch off the device at the ON/OFF switch.
2. Pull the mains plug out of the socket.

Care and maintenance

Rinse

Note

Rinse the pump with clear water after each use when pumping water with additives.

Transport

1. Depressurise the device by opening the water removal connected to the pressure side (e.g. opening the garden sprayer).
2. Empty the hoses.
3. Remove suction line and pressure line.

Troubleshooting guide

Malfunctions often have simple causes that you can remedy yourself using the following overview. When in doubt, or in the case of malfunctions not mentioned here, please contact your authorised Customer Service.

Pump is running, but not delivering	Air is in the pump. 1. Check for correct start	startup (see chapterPreparation and Operation).
	Dirt particles block the suction area. 1. Pull the mains plug out of the socket.2. Clean the suction area.
	The suction hose or the connection adapter is not correctly screwed in.	1. Check that the seals are fitted correctly.2. Manually tighten the suction hose and connection adapter.
	The pre-filter is clogged. 1. Clean the pre-filter.
The pump does not start up, or stops suddenly during operation	The power supply is disconnected. 1. Check the fuses and the electrical connections.
The pump capacity drops or is too low	The suction area is clogged. 1. Pull the mains plug out of the socket.2. Clean the suction area.
	The delivery rate of the pump depends on the delivery head and the connected periphery.	1. Observe the max. delivery head (see chapter Specifications), select a different hose diameter or a different hose length if necessary.
	The cross-section on the pressure side is narrowed, e.g. due to the valve/ball tap not being fully open.	1. Open the valve/ball tap completely.
	The hose is kinked on the pressure side.	1. Eliminate the kink points in the hose.
	The pre-filter is clogged. 1. Clean the pre-filter.
