▶ Do not set or lay any items on the device.

2.4 Ratingplate
The rating plate with the connection and performance data can be founded beneath the device.
3 Operation and Handling
This chapter provides you with important information and notes on the operation and basic settings of the appliance.
ATTENTION
Do not leave the device unattended while in use.
Caution, the grill plates are heated directly after switching on. The device's surfaces will also become hot; there is a danger of burns! After starting the appliance, only touch the handle, the glass surface, the height adjustment slider, the hinge release and the controls
▶ Warning: If the grill plate is cracked, switch off the appliance to avoid a possible electric shock.
3.1 Before first use
- Place the appliance on a stable surface.
- Set the height adjustment slider (4) to the "OPEN" position. Only then can the appliance be opened.
- For more information on cleaning, see the chapter „Cleaning and care“.
PLEASE NOTE
IMPORTANT: When you use your waffle maker for the first time there may be a slight smell and some smoke. To begin with, operate the appliance for at least 20 minutes without food, at the highest temperature (220 °C). Then allow the appliance to cool down in the open position.
3.2 3 different uses
Set the height adjustment slider (4) to the "Lock" position during transport or for storage. For use or cleaning, always set the slider to the „Open" position first.
3.2.1 Use with the lid closed (contact grilling)
Use this position to warm up the grill plates and to grill solid food. You can use the height adjustment slider (4) to adjust the position of the lid to the thickness of the food to be grilled (position 1 approx. 2 cm to position 5 approx. 5 cm). Carefully press the lid on the glass surface to swivel the grill plates parallel to each other, so the food is cooked from above and below at the same time without being crushed.
Typical use: hamburger patties, steaks, fi sh, vegetables, paninis or sandwiches.
3.2.2 Use with open lid
Use this position for food that is only to be heated from one side. After heating up, carefully open the appliance until it is stable in the open position. Place the food on the lower grill plate and leave the lid in the upright position.
Typical use: shashlik, vegetable skewers or items with liquid sauces
3.2.3 Use with the lid fully folded down
Use this position if you want to place food on both grilling surfaces. To do this, hold the lid by the handle with your left hand and press the hinge release (5) while carefully placing the lid backwards onto the work surface. The lid will fold back completely by 180°. This provides you with two ribbed grilling surfaces.
Typical use: for grilling larger quantities, simultaneous grilling of dishes of different thicknesses or whose fl avours should remain separate, e.g. fi sh and meat.
3.3 Operation
Prepare your food by removing all non-edible parts, such as seeds and stalks from vegetables or bones from meat. Cut the food into pieces of the desired size and thickness. Allow frozen food to defrost before preparing it.
PLEASE NOTE
▶ Never use hard or sharp-edged objects such as knives or forks on the appliance. After cooking, remove the food using wooden or heat-resistant plastic tongs, for example. Do not use any objects that melt, char, deform or develop harmful substances when exposed to heat.
Do not place cloths or napkins over or under the appliance.
▶ Fat and cooking juices will spray out of the food. Do not stand too close to the appliance.
Before assembling the appliance, check that the grill plates are absolutely clean and dry.
The appliance may only be put into operation if both grill plates are inserted correctly.
-
Prepare the appliance as described in the chapter "Before first use".
-
Make sure that the grill plates are inserted correctly and that the drip tray is on the left-hand side of the appliance.
-
Drip a little cooking oil onto kitchen paper and rub it into the grill plates.
-
Close the lid of the appliance.
-
Plug the power plug into the outlet.
-
The appliance is in standby mode.
-
Turn the 'Time control dial' (13) to 'ON' (15) or a desired timer duration to switch on the appliance.
-
Set the desired temperature by turning the 'Temp. control dial' (11).
-
The crown indicator light on the 'Temp. control dial' lights up red.
-
As soon as the grill plates have reached the desired temperature, the indicator light on the 'Temp. control dial' lights up green. The heating phase of a high temperature takes longer than from a low temperature.
-
Carefully open the lid and place your food on the grill plate.
-
Close the lid or, if necessary, adjust the lid to the right height for your food. To do this, hold the lid at the right height for your food and use the height adjustment slider (4) to set the height for your food. You can tilt the grill plate to the desired angle by pressing lightly on the glass surface. Caution! The housing of the appliance is very hot! Only touch the appliance by the handle, the height adjustment slider, the Glass surface, the hinge release and the controls.
-
Cook your food to the desired consistency and check the cooking process as required. Do not scratch or cut the grill plate with sharp-edged objects. Remove your food from the grill plate to cut it.
-
When the food has reached the desired doneness, carefully lift the lid until it remains in the open position.
-
Remove the food with a spatula or grill tongs (heat-resistant plastic or wood) and place new food on the grill plate if necessary.
-
Readjust the temperature of the appliance if necessary or switch off the appliance by turning the two control dials to the 'OFF' position and allow it to cool down completely when open.
3.4 Setting the grill timer
You can set the appliance to switch off automatically after the desired time. The grill timer can be set to a maximum of 30 minutes.
- Turn the 'Timer dial' to the desired time.
- When the time has elapsed, an acoustic signal sounds and the appliance automatically switches to standby mode.
3.5 Tips for preparation
- Small and thin foods require a lower temperature than larger foods.
• High temperatures are particularly suitable for meat. - A meat thickness of 1-3 cm is recommended. Recommended cuts of meat are Beef: roast beef, rump steak, fi llet Pork: neck steaks, fi llet, goulash Lamb: rump steak, fi llet, loin, chop, goulash
- Avoid grilling pieces of meat with thick bones (e.g. T-bone steaks). Remove the bone before grilling.
- It is best to use grill tongs for meat and a spatula for fish, as cooked fish disintegrates easily.
Recommended table for temperature settings
