Intended Use

  • The device may only be used to heat up water, not for heating up milk or other liquids.

CAUTION: hot surfaces!

The kettle will become very hot during use. Do not come into contact with heated parts while or after using the kettle! Only ever touch the handle when the kettle is in operation or contains hot water.

  • The base station must always be disconnected from the mains power when left unattended and before cleaning it.
  • Never immerse the kettle, base station or the mains connecting cable in water or other liquids and ensure that they cannot fall into water. There is a danger of electric shock from water.

  • Never exceed the maximum fill level. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water could escape from the pouring spout and the base station and mains connecting cable could become wet.

  • Use the kettle only with the base station provided. Do not use the base station with other devices.
  • Do not make any modifications to the device. Also do not replace the mains connecting cable yourself. If the kettle, the base station or the mains connecting cable are damaged, they must be replaced by the manufacturer, customer service department or a specialist workshop in order to avoid any hazards.
  • The device is not designed to be operated with an external timer or a separate remote control system.
    Note the cleaning instructions in the “Cleaning and Care” chapter!

  • Use and store the device only in closed rooms. Do not operate the device in rooms with high humidity.
  • Should the base station fall into water, switch off the power supply immediately. Do not attempt to pull it out of the water while it is still connected to the mains power! Have the base station and the kettle checked in a specialist workshop before using it again.
  • Never touch the base station and the mains connecting cable with wet hands when these components are connected to the mains power.
    Take the kettle off the base station to fill it, pour water or clean it. Make sure that no water gets into the contacts on the bottom of the kettle.

WARNING – Danger of Scalding

  • Avoid coming into contact with the steam rising up from the pouring spout. Do not open the lid during the boiling process. Allow the device to cool down before filling it again! Otherwise there could be a blast of steam.
    ■ Pour out boiling water slowly and carefully without tipping the device too quickly.
  • Do not move the device during the boiling process.
  • The mains connecting cable must not hang down from the surface on which the device is placed in order to prevent the device from being pulled down.
  • Do not use the device if it is cracked or its handle is loose or damaged. The kettle could shatter and the hot water could cause scalding.

NOTICE – Risk of Damage to Material and Property

The base station should only be connected to a properly installed plug socket with safety contacts. The socket must be readily accessible so that the connection to the mains can quickly be isolated. The mains voltage must be the same as that stated in the technical data for the base station.
■ Remove the mains plug if a fault occurs during operation or before a thunderstorm.
- Protect the device from other heat sources, naked flames, sub-zero temperatures, direct sunlight and collisions. Also protect the base station from persistent moisture and wet conditions.
- Allow the kettle to cool down before it is filled with cold water to prevent material damage.
■ Make sure that the mains connecting cable is not squashed, bent or laid over sharp edges and does not come into contact with hot surfaces (e. g. of the device).
- When the mains plug is removed from the plug socket, always pull on the mains plug and never the mains connecting cable. Do not pull or carry the base station by the mains connecting cable.
- Never place heavy objects on the base station or the mains connecting cable.
- Do not use the device if it has malfunctioned, fallen or been dropped in water. Have it checked in a specialist workshop before using it again.
- Only use original accessories from the manufacturer so as not to impair the functioning of the device and to prevent possible damage.

Before Initial Use

  1. Remove any protective films and transport restraints that may be present from the device. Never remove the rating plate and any possible warnings!
  2. To remove any possible production residues, fill the kettle (6) up to the top marking on the water level indicator (3) with drinking water before you first use it and let it boil up (see chapter "Use"). Pour away this water, do not drink it! Repeat this process twice.
  3. Clean the kettle in the manner described in the "Cleaning and Care" chapter.

The kettle is now ready for operation!

PLEASE NOTE!

  • Be careful when pouring out hot water. There is a danger of scalding.
    The device should only be used out of the reach of small children and animals. The mains connecting cable must also be kept out of the reach of children. Otherwise they might use the cable to pull the device down on themselves. There is a danger of scalding.
    ■ The device may only be operated in an upright position, never tilted.
  • Do not operate the device without water. If this does happen, the device switches off automatically. In this case, allow the device to cool down before cold water is poured in and the device is switched on.

  • Wind up or unwind the mains connecting cable on the bottom of the base station (4) to the length you want and then place it in the slot which is provided for it on the edge of the base station.

  • Insert the mains plug into a easily accessible socket.

  • Place the base station on a dry, even, firm, water and heat-resistant surface. Do not place the device below kitchen wall units or similar cupboards. The rising steam could cause damage to them!

  • Push the button for opening the lid (9) on the side marked PUSH with your thumb to unlock the lid (8) and open it by pulling the lid with your index finger.
  • Fill the kettle (6) with at least 0.5 litres and max. 1.7 litres of water. Insufficient water will cause the device to switch off prematurely. If the top marking is exceeded, water could splash out during the boiling process.
  • Close the lid. It must engage.
  • Place the kettle on the base station.
  • Push down the On / Off switch (1) on the side marked I. The device will turn on and the LED lighting (5) will illuminate. You can interrupt the boiling process at any time by pushing down the On / Off switch on the side marked O.
  • The device automatically deactivates once the water has boiled. The On / Off switch sets automatically to Off position and the LED lighting switches off.
  • Take the kettle off the base station and carefully pour the water into a vessel. Keep the lid closed when pouring out the water.

Cleaning and Care

PLEASE NOTE!

■ Regularly descale the device.
■ The device is not dishwasher-safe.

- Do not use any toxic, corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents or scouring sponges to clean the device. These can damage the surface.

  • If necessary, wipe down the kettle (6) and the base station (5) with a clean, damp cloth.
  • Keep the device ready to operate. Remove limescale deposits with a descaling agent. Follow the instructions on how to use the descaling agent.
  • If the interior of the kettle is dirty, it can be rinsed carefully with detergent and clear water. Make sure that no water gets into the contacts on the bottom of the kettle! Do not immerse the kettle in water! This could cause a short circuit.
  • If not in use, the kettle may be stored on the base station. However, be sure to pull the mains plug out of the socket.

Troubleshooting

If the device does not work properly, check whether you are able to rectify the problem yourself. If the problem cannot be solved with the steps that are listed, contact the customer service department.
