Before using the device for the first time, please read the instructions through carefully and keep them for future reference. If the device is given to someone else, these instructions should also be handed over with it. The manufacturer and importer do not accept any liability if the information in these instructions is not complied with.

Intended Use

• This device is intended to be used for making popcorn.
• This device is for personal use only and is not intended for commercial applications.
• Use the device only as described in the instructions. Any other use is deemed to be improper.
• The following are excluded from the warranty: all defects caused by improper handling, damage or unauthorised attempts at repair. This also applies to normal wear and tear.

Safety Instructions

This device may be used by children aged 8 and over and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or a lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or have received instruction on how to use the device safely and have understood the dangers resulting from failure to comply with the relevant safety precautions. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children, unless they are older than 8 years of age and are supervised.
■ Children younger than 8 years of age and animals must be kept away from the device and the connecting cable.
- The device is not designed to be operated with an external timer or a separate remote control system.

Warning of hot surfaces! The device will become very hot during use. Make absolutely sure that you do not come into contact with any heated parts during and after use of the device. Only touch the On/Off switch while the device is in operation or immediately after it has been switched off. Only transport or store away the device after it has cooled down completely. Use suitable oven gloves when handling the device.

• The device must always be disconnected from the mains power when it is left unattended and before assembling, disassembling or cleaning the device.
• Do not make any changes to the device. Also do not replace the mains cable yourself. If the device, the mains cable or the plug of the device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or customer service department or a similarly qualified person (e.g. specialist workshop) in order to avoid any hazards.
  ■ CAUTION: Note the cleaning instructions in the “Cleaning and Storage” chapter!

Dangers of Injury

- Keep the device and packaging material away from children and animals! There is a risk of injury and suffocation.

The device should only be used and stored out of the reach of small children and animals. The mains cable must also be kept out of their reach. Otherwise they might use the cable to pull the device down on themselves.
■ Make sure that the connected mains cable does not present a trip hazard. The cable must not hang down from the surface on which the device is placed in order to prevent the device from being pulled down.

Danger of Electric Shock and Fire

■ Use the device only in closed rooms.

■ Always set up the device with a sufficient amount of clear space on all sides and clear space above it in order to prevent any build-up of heat.
The device should only be connected to a properly installed plug socket with safety contacts. The plug socket must also be readily accessible after connection so that the connection to the mains can quickly be isolated. The mains voltage must match the technical data of the device. Only use suitable extension cables whose technical data is the same as that of the device.
- Never immerse the basic device, mains cable or plug in water or other liquids and ensure that they cannot fall into water or become wet.
- Should the basic device fall into water, switch off the power supply immediately. Do not attempt to pull it out of the water while it is still connected to the mains power!
- Do not use the device if it has malfunctioned or been dropped in water. Have it checked in a specialist workshop before using it again.
- Never touch the device, mains cable or plug with wet hands when these components are connected to the mains power.
- Switch off the device and pull the mains plug out of the plug socket if an error occurs during operation or before a thunderstorm.
■ Always pull the plug and never the mains cable.
- Do not operate the device in a very damp environment or in the vicinity of combustible material.
- Do not place any combustible materials, such as cardboard, plastic, paper or candles, on or in the device.
The device works with hot air. Never pour additives such as butter, oil, water, sugar, salt or herbs into the device.
- Do not place corn that is still wrapped in film or bags into the device.
■ Always check the device for damage before putting it into operation. Only use it if the device, mains cable and plug have no signs of damage!

Avoiding Damage to Material, Property and the Device

■ Always place the device on a dry, flat and firm surface that is not sensitive to heat.
- Maintain sufficient clearance from other sources of heat such as hotplates or stoves in order to avoid damage to the device.
- Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, strong temperature fluctuations, direct sunlight or moisture.

• Do not drop the device or allow it to be knocked violently.
• Do not pull or carry the device by the mains cable.

■ Make sure that the mains cable is not squashed, bent or laid over sharp edges and does not come into contact with hot surfaces.
- Only use the device when it is fully and correctly assembled and in good working order.
- Do not move the device during use.

The device has an overload protection function. If the motor gets too hot during use, the device switches off automatically. If this happens, pull the mains plug out of the socket and allow the device to cool down completely before you use it again.
■ Only ever use suitable (dried) corn kernels to make popcorn. Do not use pickled corn from a tin!
- Only the accessory parts supplied by the manufacturer should be used. If accessory parts which are not authorised by the manufacturer are used, all warranty and guarantee claims are void.
■ Always allow the device to cool sufficiently before you clean it / put it away.
- Do not use any caustic or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the device. These can damage the surface.

Notes on Hygiene

There may still be some production residues on the device. To avoid harmful effects to your health, clean it thoroughly before you first use it (see the “Cleaning and Storage” chapter).
- Clean the device immediately after each use to prevent germ formation (see the “Cleaning and Storage” chapter).

Before Initial Use

CAUTION!

• Keep children and animals away from the packaging material. There is a danger of suffocation!
  Please note: You may notice a strange smell the first time you use the device. We therefore recommend that you initially operate the device for a few minutes WITHOUT any contents in order to burn off any production residues that may remain. During this time, make sure the room is well ventilated, e.g. with wide-open windows!
  There may still be some production residues on the device. To avoid harmful effects to your health, thoroughly clean the device before you use it for the first time.

• Take the device out of the packaging and remove all film and stickers that may be present. Inspect the device for transport damage. If you notice any damage, do not use the device(!), but contact our customer service department.

• Clean the device and the accessories thoroughly before using them for the first time (see the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter).
• Place the popcorn container onto the base unit. Your popcorn machine is now ready for operation.

Use

CAUTION!

• Danger of burns! The device becomes very hot during operation. Do not touch it when it is switched on or immediately after it has been switched off! Only ever touch the ON/Off switch or use potholders or oven gloves.
• Only dry corn kernels may be poured into the device. Never pour additives such as butter, oil, water, sugar, salt or herbs into the device. Only season the popcorn once it is cooked.

• Do not pour any old popcorn into the device as it may burn on and produce smoke.
  ■ Never overfill the corn pot! This may result in burning of burst popcorn and smoke being produced as broken kernels cannot get out of the corn pot.

• Place the base on a dry, even, and firm surface. Make sure you follow the notes on set-up and connection in the "Safety Instructions" chapter.

1. Make sure that the popcorn container is correctly placed on the base unit. The popcorn outlet must be located on the sloping end of the bottom of the popcorn container.

2. Remove the lid, which also serves as a measuring cup, and fill it up to the top with popcorn corn. If the cup is heaped, skim off excess kernels with your finger. CAUTION: Never pour too little or too much corn into the corn pot! If there is too little corn, only a few corn kernels may break open and too many kernels may stay hard. Overfilling the corn pot may result in the popcorn burning.

1. Pour the contents of the lid/measuring cup (approx. 60 g) into the opening in the upper housing and place the lid on it.
2. Place a bowl under the popcorn outlet.
3. Connect the device to a properly installed and easily accessible plug socket.

4. Switch on the device by moving the On/Off switch to position I.

5. The corn pot heats up and causes the corn kernels to break open. After just a few minutes, you will hear the typical sound of popcorn popping. The cooked popcorn then slides into the bowl which has been provided for it. If you can hardly hear the popping noise, switch off the device (switch position 0) and tilt it towards the bowl in order to remove all of the popcorn from the device.

6. Allow the device to cool down for at least 10 minutes before you pour in any more corn kernels or clean / store away the device. Clean the device after each use (see the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter).

Enjoy the popcorn as it is or with a flavour of your choice. Below we have compiled a few recipe ideas for you.

Recipe Ideas

Once the popcorn is ready, you can refine your popcorn as you wish. Below you will find a few ideas.

Kettle Corn

1. Coat freshly popped popcorn in margarine or spray it with vegetable spray.
2. Mix together 4 tablespoons of sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon.

Garlic/Herb Popcorn

Ingredients:

approx. 1 ½ l of freshly popped popcorn

1 tablespoon of melted margarine
2 teaspoons each of dried oregano, basil and thyme
1 teaspoon of garlic and onion powder

Preparation:

1. Prepare the garlic-herb sprinkle mixture and set it aside.
2. Make fresh popcorn and pour it into a bowl.
3. Add the margarine and thoroughly mix together all ingredients.
4. Toss with the herb mixture.

Pour freshly made popcorn into a clean paper bag, add melted margarine and herbs, then shake and enjoy. Also works with vegetable spray oil.

Easy Caramel Popcorn

Ingredients:

approx. 1 12 I freshly popped popcorn

1 pack (approx. 400 g) of unwrapped caramel sweets
2 tablespoons of water
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine

Preparation:

1. Pour the freshly made popcorn into a large bowl.
2. In the microwave (600 W), heat the sweets, the water and the butter for 2 to 2 12 minutes in a suitable vessel.
3. The sweets must be fully melted. Stir them frequently.
4. Pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn and toss to coat well.
5. Allow it to cool down for 5 minutes.

Traditional Caramel Popcorn

Ingredients:

approx. 1 ½ l of freshly popped popcorn

50 g of butter or margarine

100 g of brown sugar

50 ml of corn syrup or sugar syrup

14 teaspoon of baking soda

12 teaspoon of vanilla sugar

Preparation:

1. Allow the butter or margarine to melt in a suitable vessel in the microwave.
2. Stir in the brown sugar and the corn or sugar syrup.
3. Place the mixture in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes (600 W) until it boils. Do not stir the mixture while it is heating.
4. Remove it from the microwave. Use potholders! Add the baking soda, the vanilla sugar and the freshly made popcorn. Stir them well.
5. Place the popcorn mixture in the microwave at 300 W for 1 minute and then stir.
6. Microwave again at 300 W for another minute and then stir until the popcorn is well coated with caramel.
7. Spread the mixture out on a baking tray and allow it to completely cool.
8. Break the caramel popcorn apart and store it in a tightly sealed container or, if it is still warm but safe to handle, grease your hands and shape it into balls.

You can also add peanuts, candy-coated chocolate, chow mein noodles, raisins, sweets, pretzel sticks, gummy bears or peanut butter candy pieces or make up your own combinations.

Cleaning and Storage

CAUTION!

Before cleaning the device, always remove the mains plug and allow the device to cool down.
- Clean the device after every use to prevent the formation of germs.

- Do not spray cleaning agents directly onto the device.

■ NEVER immerse the basic device, the cable or the mains plug in water or other liquids. There is the risk of an electric shock.
- Do not use corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents, rough sponges or knives to clean the device. These can damage the surface.

1. Make sure that the corn pot has completely cooled down and the mains plug has been pulled out!
2. Rinse the popcorn container and the lid with a soft sponge, mild detergent and clear water. Wipe the corn pot and the bottom of the popcorn container (and if necessary the base unit too) with a soft, damp cloth/sponge. Then dry the device with a soft tea towel.
3. Keep the device out of the reach of children and animals in a dry, frost-free place that is protected from the sun.

Troubleshooting

If the device stops working properly, first check whether you are able to correct the problem yourself.

Do not carry out any repairs yourself to the device, the connecting cable or the mains plug!

Problem Possible cause/solution
