Intended Use
- The device may only be used to heat up water, not for heating up milk or other liquids.
- The device is for personal domestic use only and is not intended for commercial applications.
- The device should only be used as described in the operating instructions. Any other use is deemed to be improper.
- The warranty does not cover faults caused by incorrect handling, damage, calcification or repair attempts. This also applies to normal wear and tear.
Safety Instructions

WARNING: Read all safety notices, instructions, illustrations and technical data provided with this device. Failure to follow the safety notices and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and / or injuries.
This device may be used by children aged 8 and over and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or a lack of experience and / or knowledge if they are supervised or have received instruction on how to use the device safely and have understood the dangers resulting from failure to comply with the relevant safety precautions.
■ Children must not play with the device.
- Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children, unless they are older than 8 years of age and are supervised.
Children younger than 8 years of age and animals must be kept away from the device and the mains connecting cable.

CAUTION: hot surfaces!
The kettle will become very hot during use. Do not come into contact with heated parts while or after using the kettle! Only ever touch the handle when the kettle is in operation or contains hot water.
- The base station must always be disconnected from the mains power when left unattended and before cleaning it.

Never immerse the kettle, base station or the mains connecting cable in water or other liquids and ensure that they cannot fall into water.

Use the kettle only with the base station provided. Do not use the base station with other devices.
- Never exceed the maximum fill level (note the MAX marking on the water level indicator!). If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water could escape from the pouring spout.
- Do not make any modifications to the device. Also do not replace the mains cable yourself. If the kettle, the base station or the mains connecting cable are damaged, they must be replaced by the manufacturer, customer service department or a specialist workshop in order to avoid any hazards.
- The device is not designed to be operated with an external timer or a separate remote control system.
Note the cleaning instructions in the “Cleaning and Care” chapter!

DANGER – Risk of Electric Shock
- Use and store the device only in closed rooms. Do not operate the device in rooms with high humidity.
- Should the base station fall into water, switch off the power supply immediately. Do not attempt to pull it out of the water while it is still connected to the mains power! Have the base station and the kettle checked in a specialist workshop before using it again.
- Never touch the base station and the mains connecting cable with wet hands when these components are connected to the mains power.
Take the kettle off the base station to fill it, pour water or clean it. Make sure that no water gets into the contacts on the bottom of the kettle.

WARNING – Danger of Fire
- Do not use the device in rooms containing easily ignitable or explosive substances.
- Do not operate the device in the vicinity of combustible material. Do not place any combustible materials (e.g. cardboard, paper or plastic) on or in the device.
- Do not connect the device along with other consumers (with a high wattage) to a multiple socket in order to prevent overloading and a possible short circuit (fire).
- Do not cover the device during operation in order to prevent it from catching fire.
In the event of a fire: Do not extinguish with water! Smother the flames with a fire blanket or a suitable fire extinguisher.

WARNING – Danger of Injury
- Danger of suffocation! Keep children and animals away from the packaging material.
- Danger of strangulation! Make sure that the mains cable is always kept out of the reach of small children and animals.
■ Danger of scalding!
- Avoid coming into contact with the steam rising up from the pouring spout. Do not open the lid during the boiling process. Allow the device to cool down before filling it again!
- Pour out boiling water slowly and carefully without tipping the device too quickly.
- Do not move the device during the boiling process.
- The mains cable must not hang down from the surface on which the device is placed in order to prevent the device from being pulled down.
- Danger of tripping! Make sure that the connected mains cable does not present a trip hazard.
NOTICE – Risk of Damage to Material and Property
The base station should only be connected to a properly installed plug socket with safety contacts. The socket must be readily accessible so that the connection to the mains can quickly be isolated. The mains voltage must be the same as that stated in the technical data for the base station.
- Only use suitable extension cables whose technical data is the same as that of the base station.
■ Remove the mains plug if a fault occurs during operation or before a thunderstorm.
- Protect the device from other heat sources, naked flames, sub-zero temperatures, direct sunlight, persistent moisture and collisions.
Do not operate the device without water or with less water than is required to reach the MIN marking. If this does happen, the device switches off automatically. In this case, allow the device to cool down before cold water is poured in and the device is switched on.
- Allow the kettle to cool down before it is filled with cold water to prevent glass breakage.
■ Make sure that the mains cable is not squashed, bent or laid over sharp edges and does not come into contact with hot surfaces (e. g. of the device).
- When the mains plug is removed from the plug socket, always pull on the mains plug and never the mains cable. Do not pull or carry the base station by the mains cable.
■ Never place heavy objects on the base station or the mains cable.
■ Use only original spare parts from the manufacturer. If accessory parts which are not authorised by the manufacturer are used, all warranty and guarantee claims are void.

Before Initial Use

PLEASE NOTE!
■ Never remove the rating plate and any possible warnings!
- Remove any protective films and transport restraints that may be present from the device.
- To remove any possible production residues, fill the kettle (5) up to the MAX marking with drinking water before you first use it and let it boil up (see chapter "Use"). Pour away this water, do not drink it! Repeat this process twice.
Do not pour any cold water into the hot kettle to prevent material damage! Allow the kettle to cool down before filling it. - Clean the kettle in the manner described in the "Cleaning and Care" chapter.
The kettle is now ready for operation!
Use

PLEASE NOTE!
■ CAUTION – Danger of scalding from hot steam! Be careful when pouring out hot water.
■ CAUTION – Danger of scalding! The device should only be used out of the reach of small children and animals. The mains cable must also be kept out of the reach of children. Otherwise they might use the cable to pull the device down on themselves.
The surfaces of furniture may possibly contain elements which can attack and soften the adjustable feet of the base station. If necessary, place a suitable pad below the adjustable feet.

If the kettle has accidentally been operated without any water in it, it switches itself off automatically. Allow it to cool down before using it again.
- Wind up or unwind the mains connecting cable on the bottom of the base station (3) to the length you want and then place it in the slot which is provided for it on the edge of the base station.
- Insert the mains plug into a properly installed socket that is easily accessible.
- Place the base station on a dry, even, firm, water and heat-resistant surface. Do not place the device below kitchen wall units or similar cupboards. The rising steam could cause damage to them!
- Pull the lid's (8) latch towards the handle (2) und simultaneously open the lid.
- Fill the kettle (5) with at least 0.5 litres (MIN marking) and max. 1.7 litres (MAX marking) of water. Insufficient water will cause the device to switch off prematurely. If the MAX marking (6) is exceeded, water could splash out during the boiling process.
- Pull the latch towards the handle and close the lid.
- Place the kettle on the base station.
- Set the On / Off switch (1) to position I (ON). The device will turn on and the LED lighting (4) is lit constantly blue. You can interrupt the boiling process at any time by setting the On / Off switch to position 0 (OFF).
- The device automatically deactivates once the water has boiled. The On / Off switch sets automatically to position 0 (OFF) and the LED lighting switches off.
- Take the kettle off the base station and carefully pour the water into a vessel. Keep the lid closed when pouring out the water.
Cleaning and Care

PLEASE NOTE!
■ CAUTION – Danger of burns! The surface of the kettle also becomes hot from the heated contents. Allow it to cool down before cleaning it.
■ Regularly descale the device.
■ The device is not dishwasher-safe.
- Do not use any toxic, corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents or scouring sponges to clean the device. These can damage the surface.
- Completely empty the kettle (5).
- Rinse out the kettle with a little mild detergent and clear water. Make sure that no water gets into the contacts on the bottom of the kettle! Do not immerse the kettle in water! This could cause a short circuit.
- Dry the kettle thoroughly.
- If necessary, wipe down the base station (3) with a dry cloth.
- Keep the device ready to operate. Remove limescale deposits with a descaling agent. Follow the instructions on how to use the descaling agent.
- The kettle can be stored on the base station when it is not being used. In this case, pull the mains plug from the plug socket as the kettle is in stand-by mode while it is connected to the mains power.
Troubleshooting
If the device does not work properly, check whether you are able to rectify the problem yourself. If the problem cannot be solved with the steps that are listed, contact the customer service department.

Do not attempt to repair a defective electrical device yourself!
