Safety Instructions

- Danger of suffocation! Keep children and animals away from the packaging material.
Danger of scalding from hot water and hot glass surface!
- The coffee maker jug becomes hot as soon as it is filled with hot water. Only ever touch the handle and the knob.
- Carefully insert the plunger to prevent hot water from splashing out.

- Check the product regularly for any scratches or cracks. If it has any damage, do not use it.
- The product should only be used if it has been correctly assembled! Check prior to each use whether the lid and the plunger are fitted correctly.
- Protect the product from heat sources (e.g. a stove), naked flames, sub-zero temperatures and impacts. In addition, protect the bamboo lid from excessive wetness and the bamboo lid and plunger from persistent moisture.
- Use only original spare parts from the manufacturer in order to guarantee that there is no interference that may prevent the product from working and to avoid possible damage

Check the items supplied for completeness and transport damage. If the glass jug or one of its accessories should be damaged, please do not use them (!), but instead contact our customer service department.
Remove all packaging materials and any possible protective films used for protection during transportation.
Making Coffee

Before you first enjoy coffee, you should clean the glass jug and the accessories to remove any possible production residues. To do this, follow the instructions in the "Cleaning and Care" chapter.
I. Pour the amount of coffee you want into the glass jug. You will find a few tips on the correct dose and preparation in our "Tips for the Perfect Coffee from your Coffee Press".
2. Boil up some water and wait until it has reached a temperature of approx. 95^ . Pour roughly twice the quantity of water as coffee into the glass jug.
3. Stir the coffee around so that the coffee powder is distributed evenly in the water. This guarantees that the coffee aromas can be optimally released.
4. Allow the coffee to brew for approx. 30 seconds and then fi ll the glass jug with water up to its top edge (max. 350ml
5. Place the lid with the plunger carefully on the glass jug and press the plunger down gently so that the coffee powder on the surface is pressed into the water.
6. Allow the coffee to brew for approx. 3 - 5 minutes.
7. If you wish, you can now stir the coffee around again and skim it off (see the following chapter).
8. Press the plunger down slowly and evenly. It should be possible to press it down gently.
9. You can now pour the coffee directly from the glass jug into your favourite cup.

Tips for the Perfect Coffee from your Coffee Press
The Coffee Press is a relatively old preparation method which was developed in France in the 19th century. When you prepare coffee with the Coffee Press coffee maker jug you do not require any fiiter paper or other consumables.
In the Coffee Press, the coffee powder is constantly in contact with the water. The fact that the coffee is only filtered by the plunger means that coffee oils and residues transfer to the coffee more easily, which gives it a much more complex and richer flavour.
To produce the perfect coffee from your new Coffee Press coffee maker jug, important factors include the infusion time and a few basic actions as well as the fineness of the coffee, the type of coffee and the temperature of the water. We have summarised the most important points for you below.
Type of Coffee
- The most important ingredient for any good coffee is of course the coffee bean itself. The taste differs according to the type of coffee, the soil on which the coffee was grown, the growing region and climate, and the roasting process to which the coffee beans were subjected.
- Quality beats quantity! In particular because you can enjoy the coffee prepared with this method pure, without milk or sugar, it is worthwhile spending a little more when choosing your coffee beans. We recommend gently roasted, light varieties, as they contain few bitter substances and their own taste is particularly well preserved.
Grinding Fineness
- Coffee loses its aroma quickly after grinding. To get the best out of the coffee beans, we recommend that you grind them just before brewing - preferably by hand. The advantage of manual coffee mills is that the grinding fineness can usually be adjusted infinitely and therefore more precisely. In addition, the coffee mills can be cleaned more easily, making it possible to switch between different types of coffee.
- The grinding fineness is one of the decisive factors. If it is too fine, the coffee is over-extracted and becomes bitter. In addition, the coffee powder is compressed so much that it is very difficult to push down the plunger.
With the Coffee Press method, a medium to coarse grinding fineness is recommended. The grain size of grit can act as a guide. If you want to be on the safe side, let a barista that you trust grind a small portion of the beans and use this as a comparison when grinding at home.
Dosing
- To obtain a successful result, you should keep a very close eye on the ratio of coffee powder to water. If the water content predominates, the coffee loses its taste. If you use too much coffee powder, the coffee becomes too strong. We recommend that you start off with 20g of coffee for your coffee maker jug (350 ml).
Of course, tastes vary from person to person, so you need to get to know your own ideal ratio.
- The measuring spoon that is also supplied holds (heaped) roughly 7g of coffee beans and 5g of coffee powder.

The kitchen scales not only make dosing easier for beginners, but are also used by experienced baristas. With the help of these you can weigh the quantities of coffee powder and water very precisely and so also ensure the ideal ratio between the two ingredients.
Is one cup not enough? Do you sometimes just fancy a bit more coffee or do your guests also want to enjoy a proper coffee? Water
- Coffee is largely made up of water, and you should therefore make sure that the quality of the water you use for brewing your coffee is good. Since tap water is often too hard, we recommend that you use filtered water. For a particularly fine flavour, you can also use still mineral water. Here, too, you should experiment, because not every mineral water tastes the same.
- In addition to the water quality, the water temperature is also decisive for the taste of your coffee. For the best results, pour water at a temperature of approx. 95^ C over the freshly ground coffee. Always avoid brewing the coffee with boiling water! If the water is too hot, valuable ingredients in the coffee powder can burn, which makes the coffee bitter.

Infusion Time
- With the infusion time, you can experiment depending on the coffee and your taste preference. Anything from 2 to 6 minutes is allowed. Less than 2 minutes and not enough flavours will be released and the coffee will taste too thin and watery. More than 6 minutes and too many bitter substances will be released from the coffee powder and the coffee will become bitter. We recommend starting with an infusion time of approx. 4 minutes.
- After the end of the infusion time, you should pour the coffee into a cup as quickly as possible and not leave it in the Coffee Press coffee maker jug for very long because the coffee powder at the bottom will continue to extract, so giving off aromas and bitter substances.
Skimming Off
- For all those who find the coffee from the Coffee Press too strong, skimming off is a good alternative. The body of the coffee is a bit less, but this allows floral aromas to evolve better. In addition, the acid level of the coffee changes, which is a good option particularly for very acidic coffee types to ensure that the coffee does not easily become over-acidic.
- The skimming off takes place after the infusion time and before pressing down the plunger. To do this, stir the coffee around again and immediately skim off the top layer of froth and ground material with the spoon.
Further Tips
- Use a plastic or wooden spoon for stirring as a metal spoon can change the flavour and damage the glass jug.
- Make sure that the plunger is always firmly screwed together and does not wobble because otherwise coffee powder can float past it.
- Always fill the jug up to the rim (350 ml) so that the quantity ratio is right.
- Preheat the glass jug and in particular your coffee cup with hot water so that your coffee does not cool down too quickly.
- You can seal up coffee bags particularly reliably using the coffee clip on the handle of the measuring spoon. This allows you not only to preserve the aroma of the coffee powder for longer, but you also always have the measuring spoon to hand at the right moment.
Cleaning and Care

Do not use any toxic, corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents or sponges to clean the product. These can damage the surface.

If any coffee is left over, pour it away once everything has cooled down.
- Take the lid with the plunger off the glass jug.
- Remove the coffee grounds from the glass jug and clean it either with warm water and a mild detergent or place it in the dishwasher. To allow you to enjoy your glass jug for a very long time, we recommend cleaning it by hand as repeated cleaning in the dishwasher will attack the glass over time.
- Wipe down the lid of the glass jug with a damp cloth.
- Rinse off the plunger and the plunger holder with warm water. If they are very dirty, use a little mild detergent and then rinse again with clear water.

For thorough cleaning, you can take the plunger and the holder off the lid. To do this, hold the rod securely with one hand, twist the knob anticlockwise and pull the rod out of the lid.
After cleaning, insert the dry rod back into the lid and screw the knob clockwise until it is hand-tight.
- All parts must be dry before you reassemble them and / or store them away.
Storage
Thoroughly clean the glass jug again (see the "Cleaning and Care" chapter) to avoid possible mould formation. Mould can cause spots and damage that can no longer be removed / repaired.
Allow the glass jug and its accessories to dry completely and store them in a dry, clean, frost-free place that is protected from direct sunlight and cannot be accessed by children or animals.
Warranty and Limitations of Liability
The warranty does not cover faults caused by incorrect handling, damage or attempted repairs. The same applies to normal wear and tear.
We do not accept any liability for damage or consequential damage resulting from:
- Failure to follow the operating instructions
Non-designated use - Improper or unsuitable handling
- Repairs which are not carried out properly
- Unauthorised modifications
- Use of outside parts or spare parts
- Use of unsuitable additional parts or accessories

Keep the original packaging during the warranty period of the product so that the product can be properly repacked if it needs to be returned. The warranty claim will lapse if any damage is caused during transport.
