natural_image
Icon of a person reading a document inside a gray circle (no text or symbols)Warning! The fireplace must not be used inside confined or inhabited spaces, such as houses, tents, camper vans, caravans or boats. Doing so may cause carbon monoxide poisoning, which can be fatal.
NB: These Installation and Operating Instructions should be kept for the entire service life of the product.
Follow the installation instructions as illustrated in Figure 1-11.
- Do not over-tighten the screws.
Safety precautions
The process of installing the product must be in compliance with all local ordinances, including those that refer to national and European standards. The fi replace must always be installed in compliance with national laws and regulations.
Position
- There must be a minimum distance of 1.5m from the sides of the fi replace to any combustible surfaces and materials. (15 ft minimum required in the USA).
- The fi replace must be placed on a non-combustible surface, such as bricks, concrete, rock or stone.
- The fireplace must not be placed inside confined spaces, tents, camper vans, caravans, boats or indoors.
- The fi replace must not be placed beneath a roof overhang or low branches on trees.
- The fireplace should be placed on a flat, solid, stable surface. It might also be a good idea to check with neighbours about the position of the fi replace to ensure that smoke and smells do not cause a nuisance.
Using the fi replace
- Never leave the fi replace unattended when it is lit. We recommend you have a bucket of water close by.
- The fi replace should ONLY be used with dry, untreated logs/charcoal.
- Warning! Never use petrol, paraffin, methylated spirit or similar liquids to light the fi re. You could injure yourself and damage the product. We recommend using Jøtul Firestarters to get the fi re going. Any other material may damage the fi replace and shorten its service life.
- The fireplace must not be filled with too much wood. Doing so causes it to become hotter than it is designed for.
- Never move or touch the fireplace when it is lit. After use, let it cool for some time before touching it.
- Make sure at all times that children and animals do not get too close to the fi replace.
- Let the logs burn out and the fi replace cool down.
- Remove the remains of logs or charcoal, as logs can spontaneously ignite after use. Clean the fi replace with a rag/cloth.
Weather conditions:
Keep a careful eye on the fi replace in windy weather. The fi ames could burn in an uncontrolled way. If conditions are not ideal, we recommend waiting for the weather to improve before lighting the fi replace.
After using the fi replace
We recommend storing the fi replace somewhere dry when not being used.
Maintenance
The fi replace is made of 2 mm Corten steel, which develops a "rough" rusted surface after a short time. This rusty layer protects the metal fireplace from the elements, which means it can be left outdoors all year round. Corten steel is also used on building façades to achieve a rusted look.
NB: Rust can run down onto the surface and cause stains that are difficult to remove. The surface should therefore be covered to protect it.
NB: The fi replace must not be surface treated.
Technical data:
Height: 168 cm
Width: 57 cm
Depth: 57 cm
Weight: 40 kg
Warranty
2 years from the date of purchase.
NB: The heat may cause the fireplace to marginally change shape (straight surfaces may become slightly rounded). This is a natural occurrence when the fi replace is used and does not constitute a reason for any claim for compensation.

Outdoor fireplaces are very popular in backyards throughout North America. Although their use is typically allowed under state or provincial fire codes, there may be restrictions with which residents must comply. Adhering to these requirements and safety tips will assure a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience.
CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL CODE OFFICIAL REGARDING SPECIFIC OUTDOOR BURNING ORDINANCES.
- Only seasoned firewood should be used as fuel for outdoor fires.
- Outdoor fires should be located away from any adjoining property lines and 15 feet from any combustible structure or materials. Combustible structures include dwellings, garages, sheds, decks and fences.
General Safety Practices:
- Do not use the fireplace during high wind conditions.
- Jøtul highly recommends use of our optional Spark Arrest Screen to provide additional safety. Check with your local building and fire code jurisdiction as a spark arrest screen may be required on wood-burning outdoor fireplaces in your area.
- The fireplace should be located on a firm, non-combustible surface such as a brick, stone, or concrete patio.
• DO NOT burn leaves, trash or yard debris. - The fire must be attended to at all times. If the fire is to be left unattended, it should first be extinguished.
- Never use a flammable liquid to start the fire.
- Prior to removing ashes, allow them to cool for at least twenty-four (24) hours. Keep the ashes in a metal waste can with a tight-fitting metal lid and AWAY FROM BUILDINGS AND COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS.
- Keep your neighbors in mind while burning outdoors. Smoke and other products of combustion can have an impact on surrounding yards and be drawn into neighboring houses.
