Ice cream
As soon as the ice cream program is finished the display will show „00:00If the ice cream is not taken out within 10 minutes after preparation time is up and no other button is pressed, the ice cream machine will automatically go into cooling mode every ten minutes for 1 hour. After 10 minutes, an acoustic signal will sound and the device switches to standby mode. You can manually extend the after-cool function for up to one hour by selecting the “COOLING ONLY” function and setting the desired time.
Yogurt
As soon as the yogurt program is finished the display will show „00:00“. The device will start the after-cooling function and the display will show “COOL”. The yogurt will be cooled for 15 minutes. Afterwards, the ventilator and compressor will switch off automatically. A sensor will monitor the temperature of the yogurt. If the temperature exceeds 9 °C, the ventilator and compressor switch on for 4 minutes to cool the yogurt down below 9 °C. If you do not switch off the device, the cooling program stays activated.
Motor protection function
As the ice cream mixture grows firmer, it is possible for the motor to jam. To prevent damage to the motor, the motor protection function ensures that the stirring motor automatically stops once a firm ice-cream consistency is reached.
Tips for perfect ice cream
- Homemade ice cream tastes best when it's fresh. It doesn't contain any preservatives, which is why it should ideally be eaten immediately.
• Make sure that you always use very fresh eggs for your ice cream. - For fruit flavours, always use fully ripe fruit and add it through the lid opening at the end of the preparation time.
• Instead of sugar, you can also use honey or syrup as a sweetener.
- You can use cream and milk interchangeably as desired. The more cream you add, the creamier your ice cream will be.
- The colder the ice cream mixture is before you start preparing the ice cream, the shorter your preparation time will be.
- Do not store the mixture in the appliance's ice cream container. Instead, transfer the ice cream to a suitable container with a lid. It can be stored in the freezer. You can prevent the formation of ice crystals by ensuring your container contains as little air as possible, or by storing it upside down – this way, the crystals will form on the lid, not on the ice cream.
- Use up the ice cream within one week, and never refreeze melted or thawed ice cream.
- You can achieve optimal results by filling at least 1/3 of the ice cream container. However, only fill the container up to a maximum of 2/3 to prevent overflowing. The ice cream expands during the freezing process.
- Please note: The ice cream mixture always tastes too sweet before freezing. It will only taste perfect once it's frozen.
Cleaning and care
Erika should be cleaned and dried after each use. Lack of or improper care of the appliance can impair the functionality of the ice cream maker.
- Never clean the appliance using running water or other liquids. Especially the motor and the compressor may not come into contact with water.
-
Refrain from using scratching or abrasive cleaning agents.
-
All removable parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
- Wipe off the compressor housing with a damp cloth.
- Dry off all parts well with a soft cloth before assembling your appliance. Before using the ice cream maker again, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned and dry.
- The ice cream scoop should be washed by hand.

Error codes
| Error Code | Problem Solution | |

| E 5 | The temperature sensor has a fault. | Disconnect the mains plug and plug it back in.Should the problem continue, please contact Customer Service. |
Issues with the appliance
| Problem Solution | |
| The ice cream doesn't freeze. | Make sure that the compressor is working properly. Contact our customer services for repairs. |
| The ice cream is completely frozen on the outside and liquid on the inside. | While the programme was running, the ice cream mixture became so hard that the motor protection function was activated. As a result, the stirring arm stopped rotating. Remove the ice cream and stir it well. Reduce the programme duration the next time you use it. |
| The ice cream container freezes and sticks to the machine, so it cannot be removed. | Liquid (e.g. condensation or ice cream mixture) has made its way into the area between the container and the machine and has frozen. Switch off the machine and wait until the container can be removed. |
| The stirring rod freezes. | The motor protection function has been activated. Remove the container, transfer your ice cream to another container, and let the machine stand for at least 30 minutes. |
| The 2nd batch of ice cream freezes unevenly and the motor protection function is activated; the stirring rod stops rotating. | Let the machine stand for at least 30 minutes before filling it with the next batch of ice cream. |
| The ice cream is too hard when I take it out of the freezer. | If your ice cream has already been stored in the freezer for a while, you should let it thaw in the fridge or at room temperature for about 10-30 minutes. |
| The ice cream is too liquid. | In general, post-cooling is recommended for fruit ice cream or sorbet. To do so, put the ice cream into a suitable airtight container and let it chill in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. |
| Make sure that your ice cream mixture is no warmer than room temperature when pouring it. In no case should hot ice cream mixture be poured into the appliance. You will receive optimal results at a temperature of about 6-8 °C. |
Should the ice cream maker Erika have any other defects, please contact a professional repair service. Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself.
