6 Technical description

The refrigeration container can cool and deep-freeze goods at a constant temperature of +4 °C and -18 °C (TL200, TL300, TL450, FO650) or cool at +4 °C (FO200NC, FO450NC, FO800NC, FO850NC, FO1000NC). A maintenance-free refrigerant circuit with compressor provides the cooling.

Depending on the model, the refrigeration container can operate on an AC or DC power supply.

The refrigeration container has a lock on the lid (not FO800NC, FO1000NC) and a holder for the fastening strap.

Additional modules (optional)

Additional modules must be fitted on the container at the factory:

- The DT-23 automatic heating and cooling function is designed to operate the container at a constant, individual temperature (according to customer requirements). The possible range is from +4 °C to +20 °C. The storage room is automatically cooled or heated to the set temperature.

DOMETIC FO 650 - Additional modules (optional) - 1

NOTE Heating with DT-23

If the outside temperature is below the temperature set on the device, the heating function is automatically switched on. The heating function is only available with DC power supply.

  • The lead gel battery module DT-24 is a mobile power supply for refrigeration containers if an external power source is not available. The lead gel battery provides DC power (12 V). Only the MCA1235 charger supplied may be used to charge the lead gel battery.
  • The wheel set DT-25 (not for FO 650, FO 850NC) is installed under the container in place of stands.
  • The metal pallet DT-31 for FO 850NC, FO 1000NC is mounted under the container to allow an easier transport with a forklift (fig. 3, page 5).
  • The 24 V DC module DT-32 is designed for operating on a DC (24 V---) and AC power supply.

The refrigeration container has a battery monitor which protects the vehicle battery from excessive discharging:

Secure the refrigeration containers in the vehicle in such a way that they cannot move under any circumstances (e.g. sudden brake, accident).

  • Only for TL200, TL300, TL450: Use the fastening tabs on the refrigeration containers for lashing the load in the vehicle.
  • Only for wheel set DT-25: Use the parking brakes on the wheels to secure the refrigeration containers.

DOMETIC FO 650 - WARNING! Health hazard! - 1

WARNING! Fire hazard!

  • When positioning the device, ensure the supply cord is not trapped or damaged.
  • Do not locate multiple portable socket-outlets or portable power supplies at the rear of the device.

  • Observe the minimum clearances for the place of installation (fig. 6, page 6).

  • Place the refrigeration container on a stable and even floor.

7.1 Operation with AC power

  1. Plug the AC connection cable into the AC power supply connection (fig. 4 2, page 5).
  2. Connect the refrigeration container to the AC power supply.

7.2 Operation with DC power

DOMETIC FO 650 - Operation with DC power - 1

NOTICE! Risk of damage to the device!

Disconnect the refrigeration container and other electric consumers from the battery before you connect the battery to a quick charging device.

Overvoltage can damage the electronics of the device.

For safety reasons, the refrigeration container is equipped with an electronic system to prevent the polarity being reversed. This protects it against reversed polarity when connecting to a battery and against short circuiting.

DOMETIC FO 650 - NOTICE! Risk of damage to the device! - 1

NOTICE! Risk of damage to the device!

To avoid voltage drops and loss of performance, keep the cable as short as possible and avoid joins.

Therefore avoid additional switches, plugs or power strips.

▶ Determine the required cross section of the cable in relation to the cable length as follows:

DOMETIC FO 650 - V (with additional module DT-32) - 1

NOTICE! Risk of damage to the device!

Make sure that the polarity is correct.

  1. Before starting up the device for the first time, check whether the operating voltage and the battery voltage match (see type plate).
  2. Make sure that the cable at the positive battery terminal (fig. 7 1, page 7) is protected with a 25 A fuse (fig. 7 3, page 7).
  3. Plug the DC connection cable into the DC socket of the refrigeration container (fig. 4 1, page 5).
  4. Connect the red cable (fig. 7 rd, page 7) to the positive battery terminal (fig. 7 1, page 7).
  5. Connect the black cable (fig. 7 bk, page 7) to the negative battery terminal (fig. 7 2, page 7).

Notes on the battery monitor

The product is equipped with a battery monitor that protects your vehicle battery against excessive discharging when the device is connected to the on-board supply.

If the refrigeration container is operated when the vehicle ignition is switched off, it switches off automatically as soon as the supply voltage falls below a settable level. The refrigeration container will switch back on once the battery has been recharged to the switch-on voltage level.

DOMETIC FO 650 - Notes on the battery monitor - 1

CAUTION! Health hazard!

If the refrigeration container switches itself off, the food contained inside it will not be cooled.

DOMETIC FO 650 - CAUTION! Health hazard! - 1

NOTICE! Risk of damage!

When the refrigeration container is switched off by the battery monitor, the battery will no longer be fully charged. Avoid starting repeatedly or operating power consumers without longer charging phases. Make sure that the battery recharges.

8 Operating the refrigeration container

DOMETIC FO 650 - Operating the refrigeration container - 1

CAUTION! Health hazard!

Food may only be stored in its original packaging or in suitable containers.

DOMETIC FO 650 - CAUTION! Health hazard! - 1

NOTE

  • The key in the key switch for temperature selection can be removed in any position. The container continues to refrigerate.
  • Before starting your refrigeration container for the first time, you should clean it inside and outside with a damp cloth for hygienic reasons (see also chapter "Cleaning and maintenance" on page 26).

8.1 Storing food items

DOMETIC FO 650 - Storing food items - 1

NOTE

At a temperature setting of -18^ : Only put food in the refrigeration container that is already frozen at -18^ . The refrigeration container is not suitable for deep-freezing food.

8.2 Saving energy

  • Choose a well ventilated location which is protected from direct sunlight.
  • Allow warm food to cool down first before placing it in the refrigeration container to deep-freeze.
  • Do not open the refrigeration container more often than necessary.
  • Do not leave the refrigeration container open for longer than necessary.
  • If the refrigeration container has a basket: For optimal energy consumption, position the basket according to its position on delivery.
  • Defrost the refrigeration container once a layer of ice forms.
  • On a regularly basis, make sure the lid seal still fits properly.

8.3 Selecting the temperature (only TL200, TL300, TL450, FO650 or with additional module DT-23)

To avoid food waste, note the following:

- Keep temperature fluctuation as low as possible. Only open the refrigeration container as often and for as long as necessary. Store the foodstuff in such a way that the air can still circulate well.

  • If the temperature can be adjusted: Adjust the temperature to the quantity and type of the foodstuff.
  • Foodstuff can easily absorb or release odor or taste. Always store foodstuff covered or in closed containers/bottles.

  • Turn the key switch to the required position (fig. 5, page 6).

  • Remove the key and store in a safe place.

8.4 Switching on the refrigeration container

DOMETIC FO 650 - Switching on the refrigeration container - 1

NOTICE! Risk of damage!

  • Only put food items in the refrigeration container which may be kept at the selected temperature.
  • Ensure that your refrigeration container is well ventilated so that any heat created can dissipate. Otherwise proper functioning cannot be ensured. The air vents may not be covered up.

  • Set the on/off switch (fig. 4 3, page 5) to the "l" position.

  • Insert the key into the key switch.
  • Turn the key to the required temperature.
√ The compressor switches on and the refrigeration container starts to cool.

8.5 Operating the lead gel battery (DT-24)

DOMETIC FO 650 - Operating the lead gel battery (DT-24) - 1

WARNING!
