How to assemble the Brentwood MC-109R mini chopper?

Place the base on a flat surface. Align the tabs on the bowl with the indentations on the base, then turn the bowl clockwise until it locks. Insert the blade assembly onto the bowl's column, then place the lid aligning the arrows. Turn the lid clockwise to lock. The appliance only works if the lid is properly locked.

What to do if the appliance does not turn on?

Check that the lid is properly locked: the arrow on the lid must be aligned with the 'On' position. If the lid is not engaged, the appliance will not turn on. Also ensure the appliance is plugged into a 110-120 V outlet. The safety lock prevents operation if the lid is not correctly positioned.

Can I chop meat or cheese with this appliance?

No, it is not recommended to chop meat, cheese, coffee beans or chocolate to avoid damaging the motor or blades. This appliance is designed for vegetables, fruits, herbs and other soft or moderately hard foods (cut into small pieces).

How to safely clean the blades?

The blades are extremely sharp. After use, remove the blade assembly carefully and wash it separately in warm soapy water. Do not let the blade soak in soapy water to avoid cuts. Rinse and dry immediately. The bowl and lid can go in the dishwasher (top rack).

Can I use an extension cord with this appliance?

The use of an extension cord is not recommended. If necessary, use an extension cord with a power rating at least equal to that of the appliance (not specified, but generally 200 W). Position the extension cord to avoid any tripping hazard.

What is the maximum capacity of the bowl?

The maximum capacity is 1½ cups for solids (approx. 355 ml) and ¾ cup for liquids (approx. 177 ml). Do not overfill the bowl to avoid spillage and damage.

Why is there an odor or smoke during first use?

This is normal. The first use may produce a slight odor or smoke due to the chemical reaction of the heating element (if present) or manufacturing residues. This disappears quickly. Make sure to use the appliance in a well-ventilated area.

Can I immerse the base in water to clean it?

No, never immerse the base, cord or plug in water or any other liquid. Clean the outside of the base with a soft damp cloth. The bowl, lid and blade assembly are the only parts washable with water.

How to store the appliance after use?

Make sure the appliance is unplugged, cleaned and completely dry. Store it in a cool, dry place out of reach of children and pets. Keep the blades in a safe place to avoid injury.

Can I use the appliance to blend hot soups?

Yes, but do not pour very hot liquids directly into the plastic bowl to avoid damaging it. Let it cool slightly before blending. Use gloves to remove the lid if the contents are hot.

Operating and Safety Instructions

When using this or any other electrical appliance, always follow these basic safety precautions, especially when children are present.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE

WARNING - To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, serious personal injury, and property damage please note the following:

- This product is not intended for use by children. Keep the product out of the reach of children and pets. Extra caution is necessary when using this appliance near children.

- Always ensure the product is unplugged from the electrical outlet and allowed to cool before assembling, disassembling, relocating, or cleaning it.

- Do not leave the product unattended while it is in use. Always unplug the product from the electrical outlet when not in use.

- Do not immerse the Base, Power Cord, or Plug of this product in or expose the Power Cord or Plug to water or other liquids.

- Do not touch hot surfaces. Take proper precautions to prevent burns, fire, or personal or property damage. Use protective oven mitts or gloves when removing the Lid or handling hot containers.

- Do not use attachments not recommended or sold by the product manufacturer.

- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, in a heated oven, or on other heated surfaces.

- Use extreme caution when moving an appliance containing hot food, water, or other liquids.

- Use the product in a well-ventilated area. Keep at least 4-6 inches of space on all sides of the product to allow adequate air circulation.

- Use the appliance on a table or flat surface. Keep the product away from curtains, wall coverings, clothing, dishtowels, or other flammable materials.

- Do not plug or unplug the product from the electrical outlet with wet hands.

- This product is intended solely for non-commercial, non-industrial, household use in cooking food for human consumption; do not use the product outdoors or for any other purpose.

- Do not operate the product empty.

- Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter where it may be tripped over or pulled. Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces.

- Do not operate the product if it has a damaged or cut power cord or plug, if wires are exposed, if it malfunctions, if it is dropped or damaged, or if the motor housing is dropped in or exposed to water.

- This product has no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to examine or repair this product yourself. Please review the Warranty Policy on Page 7.

- Do not put any stress on the power cord where it connects to the product, as the power cord could fray and break.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. An extension cord is not recommended for use with this product, but if one must be used:

• The marked electrical rating must be at least as great as that of the product.
• Arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be tripped over or pulled.

WARNING: This product is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other blade) to reduce the risk of electrical shock. This is a safety feature. The plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If you are unable to insert the plug into the electrical outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use the plug with an extension cord unless you can fully insert the plug into the extension cord. Do not alter the plug. Do not attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

Before First Use

IMPORTANT: Please check all packaging material carefully before discarding as there may be accessory parts contained within the packaging material.

To Assemble

Attention: First use may cause a slight odor or small smoking upon heating, it is normal. This is a result of the heating element chemical reaction. It quickly goes away.

CAUTION: Handle the Blades with care, as they are extremely sharp.

1. Before using the product for the first time, thoroughly wash the Cover, Bowl, and Blade Assembly in hot, soapy water and dry thoroughly.
2. Make sure it is unplugged from the outlet and place the Base on a flat, level, stable surface.
3. Place the Bowl over the Shaft in the Base, aligning the tabs in the bottom edges of the Bowl with the indentations in the edges of the Base.
4. Turn the Bowl clockwise until the tabs on the Bowl slide under the tabs on the Base.
5. While holding the Blade Assembly by the top, place it onto the column in the Bowl and turn the Assembly until it rests about one half inch above the bottom of the Bowl.
6. Place the Cover onto the Bowl, ensuring that the peg in the Cover is correctly inserted. If it is not locked into place, the appliance will not turn on.
7. To lock the Cover, turn the Cover clockwise until you see the arrow on the right facing the 'Off' and 'On' lettering on the Top of Base. The second arrow will be facing left, away from the Top of the Base.
8. Your Mini Food Chopper is now ready for use.
9. To start your Mini Food Chopper, gently turn clockwise so the arrow on the Cover will go from facing the 'Off' lettering on the Top of the Base to facing the 'On' lettering. This movement will engage the power, and the blades will begin move.
10. When you have reached your desired results, turn the Cover counterclockwise to release the cover. Once the cover is removed, carefully remove the blade assembly and place in sink, away from children and pets. You may use the bowl as a dipping bowl or pour contents of your mix to a glass bowl.

CAUTION: Never place the Blade Assembly in the Bowl with soapy water. Wash it separately and immediately to avoid cuts. Blades are extremely sharp.

1. Once empty, rinse Bowl, Blade Assembly, and Cover and let air dry or dry with clean dry cloth. Being mindful of the sharp blades when drying. Then store in a dry cabinet away from the reach of children and pets.

Using Your Mini Food Chopper:

WARNING: Avoid contact with moving parts.

WARNING: Always assemble the product completely before plugging it into an outlet.

WARNING: To avoid damage to the product, do not chop ingredients such as meat, cheese, coffee beans, or chocolate.

1. Cut solid ingredients into small pieces, as needed. NOTE: Hard vegetables, such as raw carrots, may require splitting and/or quartering for proper product operation.
2. Turn the Cover counterclockwise and remove it from the Bowl. Place up to 1½ cups of solid or ¾ cup of liquid ingredients into the Bowl.

CAUTION: To prevent product/property damage, do not overfill the Bowl.

1. Reattach the Cover securely onto the Bowl by aligning the arrow on the Cover with the arrow on the Top of the Base. NOTE: The product will not operate until the Cover is securely locked into place.
2. Plug the product into a standard 110-120 volt AC electrical outlet, and turn the lid clockwise to the 'ON' lettering to start the chopping process. Release the pulsing by releasing the lid.
3. When the contents are at the desired consistency, release the pulse pressure and allow the Blades to stop completely.
4. UNPLUG the product from the electrical outlet and remove the Cover.
5. Turn the Bowl counterclockwise to release the tabs on the edges of the Bowl from the tabs on the Base.

CAUTION: Carefully remove the Blade Assembly before pouring contents from the Bowl.

WARNING: Always unplug the product when it is not in use or is left unattended.

Cleaning Your Mini Food Chopper:

WARNING: Always unplug the product and allow it to cool before cleaning or storing it.

CAUTION: Use caution when attaching or detaching the Blade Assembly, as the Blades are extremely sharp.

- Clean the product after each use. Wash the Cover, Bowl, and Blade Assembly in hot, soapy water and dry thoroughly. Clean the exterior of the Base by wiping it with a soft, damp cloth.

CAUTION: Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads to clean any part of the product.

- Store the product in a cool, dry place.

WARNING: Do not immerse the Base in water or other liquids.
