Frequently Asked Questions - DART Busch + Müller

How to mount the DART rear light on my luggage rack?
The rear light mounts on the luggage rack using the two bolts and supplied mounting hardware. It is designed for a hole spacing of 50 mm or 80 mm. Align it perpendicular to the ground and parallel to the track. Tighten the screws enough so it does not slide. Do not mount the light upside down.
What is the required supply voltage?
This rear light requires a DC voltage of 6-50 V DC. It must be connected to an e-bike battery. Do not use with an AC voltage source (e.g., dynamo).
How to connect the power cable?
Strip the wires about 5 mm. Open the cable clamp, insert the stripped wires, then fold them around the cable clamp to secure. Ensure correct polarity. Insert the cable clamp into the rear light so that the wires touch the plug-in contacts. For cables with spade connectors, attach the connectors directly to the contacts.
How does the brake light work?
When speed is significantly reduced, the brightness of the rear light increases considerably, signaling braking. In case of emergency braking, a highly visible flashing of the light warns other road users. Proper alignment of the light is essential for this function.
What to do if the rear light does not turn on?
First check that the power supply is properly connected and the bike battery is charged. Ensure polarity is correct and cables are making good contact. If the problem persists, contact customer service (service@bumm.de). Do not open the housing, as this will void the warranty.
Can I use this light on a non-electric bike?
No, this rear light is designed exclusively for electric bikes (E-Bikes) equipped with a battery providing DC voltage of 6 to 50 V. It is not compatible with dynamos or standard batteries.
Is the rear light waterproof?
No, the rear light is not waterproof. It must be protected from moisture. When cleaning with a water jet, in rain, or during car transport, cover it with a plastic bag to prevent water ingress.
How to maintain the rear light?
Clean it with a damp cloth (not wet). Avoid using high-pressure cleaners. Protect it from excessive moisture. Once a year, check that the mounting screws are tight and the electrical contacts are not oxidized.
What to do in case of malfunction?
In case of a problem, do not open or disassemble the rear light. Contact Busch + Müller customer service by phone (+49 2354 915-6000) or email (service@bumm.de). The warranty is void if the device is opened.
Where can I find the complete manual?
The complete manual is available free of charge on notice-facile.com in PDF format. You can also request it in another language by sending your email via the product page. The manufacturer also provides manuals in several languages on its website www.bumm.de.

Attach the rear light to the rack using the two fastening bolts on the rear and the enclosed fastening material. The rear light is designed for a 50 mm or 80 mm assembly dimension. 8. Operation

The rear light is switched on and off via the vehicle display or via the headlight. If the speed is reduced significantly, the rear light illuminates much brighter to signalise the following traffic to slow down (stoplight).

In the event of an extreme reduction in speed (emergency braking), a very noticeable flashing of the stoplight warns the traffic behind of an abrupt braking manoeuvre (emergency stoplight function). This increases protection against rear-end collisions and can prevent accidents when cycling in convoys and with children!

Correct alignment of the rear light is a prerequisite for the proper functioning of the brake and emergency stoplight function (see: 6. Assembly).

9. Further remarks

If the bike is splashed with water, parked upside down in the rain or transported on a car in the rain, seal the rear light (e. g. with plastic bags) to prevent moisture from entering the rear light.

Disposal: Rear lights with electronic components must not be handled as household waste but are to be disposed of as hazardous waste.

10. Liability

In addition to the above-mentioned exclusions of warranty, we do not assume liability for any and all other damage caused by improper handling (e.g. dropping the headlight, inadequate safety of mounting and its consequences, submersion in water or other liquids etc.). Neither do we assume any liability if the rear light is opened or dismantled.

Have fun and enjoy safe cycling with your new rear light.
