Frequently Asked Questions - RDM2go Chauvet

How to recharge the RDM2go?

Use the included USB-A to Micro USB-B cable. Insert the Micro USB end into the port on the top of the device and the other end into a USB port (charger, computer, etc.). The lithium-ion battery recharges automatically.

How to connect DMX devices to the RDM2go?

Use the 5-pin DMX connectors on the base of the device. The included adapters allow conversion to 3-pin if needed. Connect the DMX output of the RDM2go to the input of the first device, then daisy chain the rest.

What does the 'No Fixtures Found' display in the RDM menu mean?

It indicates that no RDM-compatible devices are connected or detected on the DMX line. Check the connections and ensure the devices support the RDM protocol.

How to store a DMX scene with the RDM2go?

Go to the Store Scene menu (under Receive DMX or DMXSequence). Set the DMX channels to the desired values, then select a scene number (1 to 32) and confirm with ENTER.

How to test a DMX cable?

Use the Cable Test function in the menu. Connect the cable to be tested between the DMX IN and OUT ports on the RDM2go. The display shows the status of each pin. If a pin is shorted or broken, it will be indicated.

What is the Illumicode function?

Illumicode allows the RDM2go to address and control Illuminarc devices via DMX. Select Illumicode mode in the menu, then configure the DMX address and number of channels according to the device type.

How to adjust static color?

Go to the STATIC menu (under Illumicode). You can adjust the levels of red, green, blue, cold white, warm white, and amber from 000 to 255. Also use the STRB options for strobe.

Can I use the RDM2go outdoors?

No, the device is rated IP20, meaning it is only protected against solid objects larger than 12 mm. It must be used indoors, away from excessive dust, water, and moisture.

How to factory reset?

In the SETTINGS menu, select RESET then YES to confirm. This erases all custom configurations and restores default values.

What is the battery life?

The RDM2go is equipped with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Battery life depends on usage (display, active functions). To extend its lifespan, unplug the device if not used for extended periods and recharge it regularly.

DC Power

This product operates on a rechargeable lithium ion battery. To recharge the product, plug the included cable into any USB-A female outlet. Plug the Micro USB-B male end into the female socket located on top of the product. See the User Manual for more information on the charging indicators.

DMX Linking

The RDM2go will work as a DMX controller using the 5-pin DMX serial connection located at the bottom of the product. The RDM2go comes with 2 adaptors, which will convert the 5-pin DMX serial connections to 3-pin connections. DMX Connection

The RDM2go uses a 5-pin DMX data connection to control other products using DMX-512A protocol. This product can send, receive, and record DMX. See the User Manual for more information about connecting and configuring the product for DMX operation.

RDM (Remote Device Management)

Remote Device Management, or RDM, is a standard for allowing DMX-enabled devices to communicate bi-directionally along existing DMX cabling. The RDM2go supports RDM protocol that allows feedback to monitor and change menu map options on products that support this feature Download the User Manual from www.chauvetprofessional.com for more details.

Illumicode

The RDM2go will work as an Ilumicode addresser using the 5-pin DMX serial connection located at the bottom of the product and using the various adaptors included with this product and your Iluminarc product.
