How to set the DMX address of the Ovation GR-1 Adapter?

Access the DMX Address menu via the control panel. Use the up/down buttons to select a value between 001 and 512, then press Enter to confirm.

How to use master/slave mode?

Set one device to Master mode via the menu (DMX Mode) and the others to Slave mode. The master controls the slaves without a DMX console.

How to configure gobo rotation?

Use the Gobo Rotator menu to set the speed (000-255) or index. DMX channel 1 also allows controlling the rotation in DMX mode.

What is RDM and how to use it?

RDM (Remote Device Management) allows bidirectional communication via the DMX cable. It allows monitoring and modifying parameters remotely. Refer to the full manual for more details.

What type of power cable is provided?

AC Power

This product has an auto-ranging power supply that can work with an input voltage range of 100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz.

Cable

The Ovation GR-1 Adapter comes with a Neutrik® powerCON® power linking cable. If another type of plug is needed, use the table below.

DMX Linking

The Ovation GR-1 Adapter will work with a DMX controller using a 5-pin DMX serial connection. A DMX Primer is available from www.chauvetprofessional.com.

Master/Slave Connection

The Ovation GR-1 Adapter uses the DMX data connection for its master/slave mode. The Master/Slave mode allows an Ovation GR-1 Adapter (the master) to control one or more Ovation GR-1 Adapter products (the slaves) without a DMX controller. One Ovation GR-1 Adapter becomes the master when running Gobo Rotator mode. You must configure each slave's control panel to operate in Slave mode. During Master/Slave operation, the slaves will operate in unison with the master.

RDM (Remote Device Management)

Remote Device Management, or RDM, is a standard for allowing DMX-enabled devices to communicate bi-directionally along existing DMX cabling. Check the DMX controller's User Manual or with the manufacturer as not all DMX controllers have this capability. The Ovation GR-1 Adapter supports RDM protocol that allows feedback to make changes to menu map options.
